Not sure how to react. At this rate everything Type Moon related except the original source material, all the extra art booklets and interviews, and doujins will make it over here.

Edit: oh, licensed by Sentai Filmworks. That important info.

It's actually decent for people who have at least watched the FSN anime.

The actual licensing wut I still don't get is how I3uster points out that UBW is released in Germany, but the anime is not.

They did license it, and release it here in America. You can still buy the complete set from Funimation I believe.

For exact details, yeah, but I've had friends who only know the anime watch it and get it. They just don't quite get certain specific details like why Shinji turns into a blob monster or why Caster likes to dress up her women.

Edit: Actually, I think the biggest confusion comes from how DEEN decided to drop the "Shirou uses a command spell to stop Saber, it's super effective!" moment at the beginning to keep her from hurting Rin and Archer, so they're like "Why didn't Archer do all this in the original?"

Okay, haven't watched the UBW movie yet (and the more I hear, the lower on my priority list it goes...) but what? They cut out the key part of UBW where it changes the whole storyline? ...That's kind of dumb...

They gloss over it because of the way that they framed the story to be action-oriented. Showing him meeting Rin again and whatnot would've probably, in their minds, have broken the go-go-go pace they start with. Or something.

Does not mean that the same cast will reprise the role. It just means Bang Zoom! is once again producing the ADR recordings. Standard practice in said case is to get the same roles if they can, but directors and actors move around or are busy doing other stuff, so it isn't always possible. It is, though, still more likely.

I remember it because the voice patch glitched out for me on that part the first time it came up in UBW.

Quick check! Checking the 14th day of UBW, Archer only says the first two lines and the last line of his chant. While we don't hear the middle, I am pretty sure he just sped through the rest while everyone was in awe. Kind of like in Fate/Extra. The full chant was shown right after the prologue, from the starting screen, where, you will be utterly confused until after UBW.

Oh boy, Cowboy Shirou for the win again.

Liam O'Brian did an okay job as Archer. When I first heard the dub I was like, "HOLY SHIT THAT MAN'S VOICE IS SEX." Then Roadbuster was like, "Yeahhhh, just wait until you hear the Japanese."

And I was like, "Oh. DAYMN."

loldatGerman.

Anyways, this movie might at least get people interested. If people see the movie and pan it because of the lack of characterization, they will probably at some point find a Type/Moon fan who will point them to the original Visual Novel. Sure, there's a lot of losses along the way, but a proper release can get more people in. Still, the high percentage of actionporn fans might be...disturbing combined with the typical Type/Moon fandom.

In the end, isn't that what the movie is? Service to actionporn fans?

I didn't except much out of the characterization or motives in the movie, but it's worth watching if just for the action, cos seeing Shirou vs Archer and Shirou vs Gil on screen is a lot more fun than reading it.

That is true. That is the main reason I watched it. I basically turned my brain off and assumed all the speeches from the VN to be taking place between scenes.

It's mostly the colourful, giant, comical swords that were littered throughout the movie that totally ruined the action scenes.

You just can't take the movie seriously when Shirou fended off a giant 10-meter long sword, and Kuzuki was able to stand in an upright posture with a 100-pound, 5-meter long sword jutting off of his back.

Now compare that with the Berserker vs. Gilgamesh scene in Zero. The budget and production value difference is glaring.

I thought Rin's voice was well done. The rest are all passable, except Kojiro's, whose voice actor lacks the original magnetism.

Also, WHY did the German version also butchered the UBW chant? I thought it would be easier to get a German dude who can speak English properly.
