From the CGs, it seems that Touko has teamed up with that Phantasmal Beast guy to do something, presumably bad, with Aoko. Alice and Soujirou get killed in the resulting stuff, and Aoko is forced to use a puppet made by Touko in Aoko's likeness to be the best around. The two have an epic fight, but it is in the end Aoko's win. Aoko is about to wtfpwn Touko into the dirt, but is stopped by either a barely alive Soujirou or her memory of what he would do in this situation.

Random facts from a friend of mine, who is playing game now. She isn't good at Japanese, so may require confirmation.

5th magic making Aoko body stronger than human. Executors in Church evalute her as equal/stronger whan Dead Apostles and/or True Ancestors.

5th magic also can be described as ultimate destruction, since where is nothing that it can't destroy. Aoko hair chaged into red because of extensive usage of this ability. She also can create barrier which can destroy anything that would pass through borders.

That guy whatshisname (Protagonist?) can be oni descendant.

edit: How can Touko be so apparently evil? ;_;

Well we already knew that she can be pretty spiteful and ruthless. Magi in general are pretty much all implied to be like that.

Rin often glared at Shirou like he was her worst enemy whenever he said or did something that fundamentally went against her sensibilities as a Magus. Like:

Rin: "... Did. Did you just say you use Projection to reconfirm your basics?"
Shirou: "Well, yeah. It's way easier than Strengthening, right?"
Rin: "... Dear God, if I weren't so level-headed, I'd have probably murdered you a tenth of a second after you said that."

I mean, yeah, Rin, but I'm sure that she has considerably more common sense than most other Magi. Most other Magi probably wouldn't stop at just threats. From what Rin's said, most Magi don't really care much about human life, at least when it comes to other Magi. Even Shirou acknowledges that there's nothing wrong with a Magus killing another Magus.

From what I can tell, most Magi are pretty intolerant of things that go against their personal philosophies. They also seem to have a tendency to destroy or kill anything or anyone that they perceive as an obstacle. It's just that up until now, we've mostly only been exposed to exceptions to the rule.

Don't forget, the primary reason Touko killed Cornelius Alba was because he called her "dirty red".

Hen_Ichi
April 12th, 2012, 05:58 PM
Surely Nasu's thoroughly serviced his "Touko didn't get much action in Mahoyo" itch.

Maybe it's governance over destruction as a concept?

That is, she can decide to make her own body indestructible kinda like what she did with Shiki's glasses as well as unleash pure destruction (like a generalized version of the MEoDP). Maybe because of her wanton destruction in her youth is why she was so strict with Shiki? Complete wanton speculation here =)

Yeah, Touko has Mystic Eyes, but that's nothing new, we've known that for a while.

The thing about the 5th making Aoko's body stronger than humans also isn't that surprising, since Nasu said she can fight directly against Servants, which puts her in the rarefied company of people like Kouma. Don't see what that has to do with time travel, unless it's something Kiritsugu's Innate Time Control.

I'll try to decipher this Nasu babble

First. It's seems to be an antimatter engine. In laymen's terms if you annihilate matter, you create energy. It takes A LOT of energy to create matter. And when you annihilate matter it releases A LOT of energy in return.

2nd. It says that the burden of this process is not shouldered by the future, but rather the past. I'm guessing that it converts matter from the past?

Is that like having your grandfather pay for your mortgage? Does not logically compute, but that's probably why it passes as magic

Some more random facts.

Werwolf guy knows Aoko and Touko grandparent, and he apparently hates wielders of 5th magic.

Touko ME is given to her by Sojuuro, or whats his name was.

Sojuuro dies after he defeats werwolf guy (splits in half), but Aoko rewinds time to revive him (something similiar to Kiritsugus innate time control, rewind limited just to his body). She also can draw magical energy from ''days of past''.

Alice says that she has less magical circuits than Touko (? unreliable, maybe completely wrong interpretation).

It was a pretty poor reference by any standard. The only connections are time travel, and photos that always come out looking like blurry, vaguely paranormal things no matter what it's supposed to be a picture of. And then the guy finally got a picture of a real UFO, and it came out looking like Nessie.

Was that done through pure force, or were some sort of hax involved? It might also be that the werewolf dude is Servant level, but more on the level of Assassin or Caster in physical combat, while half-demon dude is closer to one of the knight classes. E- and D-ranked stats vs C- and B-ranked stats. He survived that long by making sure to only pick fights with squishy wizards (Servant-level or otherwise), rather than Servant-level warriors.

5th magic retroactively creates the known universe by taking the antimatter energy throughout time thus causing the as yet unexplained assymmetry in physics that lead to the creation of a matter based universe?

Technically he wanted her to get more action because of her "unfair treatment" in Mahoyo. My assumption is that he means her portrayal as a villain.Nyoro~n

Rakkyo doesn't feel like she makes up for doing horrible things to her imouto and friends...

Something inside of me broke just now... Dammit Nasu, even if there's somehow a happy ending I know this is going to hit me all kinds of hard once I'm reading the VN...Indeed. When I can actually read it.

Mind full of fuck all day.

Then I listened to the ED and remembered that in the true end of all Nasu's stories - Life goes on.

I can believe right? ;_; I can beliiiiiieeeeeeve

My sources have told me that this visual novel is rather short, like not even a quarter of the length of F/SN.

Confirm or deny? For people who've finished it, how long did it take? You managed to miss all the mentions over the last year or so that Mahoyo is only about as long as the Fate route?

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but I believe that after seeing some of that visual evidence on Danbooru, it seems that the changes in Aoko were triggered by the awakening, opening or unlocking (However you wish to call it) of her magic circuits which caused her magic powers to make a rather large jump, changed her hair from brown to red (In a not-so different manner as to how Shirou had his orange-red hair bleached into white after he became Archer) and became the Aoko-sensei that we know and love. Could make sense if you think about, but I've yet to find out how did that change was brought about since I don't want to spoil myself too much.

Also, I believe that some of the eventual trashing Touko gets, she brought it upon herself. Nice going, Touko!

I truly hope that Mahoyo succeeds and I await its eventual anime adaptation. n_n

I just thought her relationship with her sister would have been one of those vicious, tragic mistakes of communication that make for cracking geat downfalls.

fMyunderstanding of the Aozaki household would've been like this: Having had the whole Magi-must-pursue-magic-above-all-else schtick drummed into her since childhood, Touko's murderous views on her sister were misguided attempts at regaining control. Aoko, her ne'er-do-well sister with fewer Magic Circuits, less aptitude for magic, or respect for Magic traditions, just pops into her life one day out of the blue after years of seperation. She begins to unintentionally take over Touko's role at school, her friendship with Alice, and -ultimately- the Family Crest that should have been her birthright. Touko's jealousy was, in my theory, a byproduct of her embracing a proper Mage's ideals. With this in mind, her more down-to-earth values shown with her interactions with Kara no Kyoukai cast would've been trying to atone for these mistakes as she found her own way to live as a Mage.

But that's all just my personal fanwank.

Did folks know the plot of Mahoyo before this release? I knew there was a briefly-released novelization which was rarer than papal poo at a Bar Mitzvah, but I thought it was one of those urban legend things which never really got verified.

Yeah, I never thought Gandr shots would ever actually be threatening from the way Rin uses them, but the Aoko doll pulled it off. Wait, Mahoyo translation in a few years?

If it's not done by year's end, I'd be seriously surprised. VN isn't too long, isn't interface intensive, and cokesakto (curse his heathen soul) works fast. We could probably have a bootleg, Nasu-ified version of his TL in (relatively speaking) no time.

Well, I have to say that if idiocy is a gene than Sojuro qualifies as Shirou's dad.

Aoko got teen pregnant? *notsureifwant* Hmm, no, the dates don't add up; Shirou was 17 in 2004, so he was born in 1987, while Mahou Tsukai no Yoru was set in 1980.

Would make things interesting if they visit Touko for Rider's glasses, and Touko realises that Shirou's her nephew. Especially since he would almost certainly attempt to make Touko and Aoko reconcile.

No, Nasu changed the date Mahoyo takes place to 1989 to preserve continuity with other Type Moon games (Melty Blood specifically).

Nasu: Actually, the original story took place in 1980, a time of "Check it out Soujuurou! The neighboring town built a convenience store!!" "What's a convenience store?" (laughs). The reason for the change in time was mainly to preserve continuity with other TYPE-MOON games. Thinking of Aoko's age in Melty Blood, if we want to have her age make sense, the story has to take place in 1989.

According to wiki:
P. G. Tait initiated the study of snarks in 1880, when he proved that the four color theorem is equivalent to the statement that no snark is planar.[2]

Considering you can also translate 平面 as flat....

Anyway, what's worse? Tatari or Flat Snark?

Alyeris

Uh... Pass. All I know is that the reference Snark comes originally from the hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll (which is why I thought it meant Jabberwocky).

Just a word about Touko. It's a little weird to think that at this point she is earning 10k a month which mostly goes into feeding a bunch of prisoners in her workshop who she ripped crests and such out of.

Tatari wins in durability because lolphenomenon, but Flat Snark feels like the bigger threat. Especially given the implications that if it got out of control it would just keep expanding and converting everything into horrible fairy tale deathbeasts immune to modern weapons.

I thought it was the other way around. The fairytale monsters created by the Snark are incompatible with modern weapons, and weaker creations such as the breadman would break up just by coming into contact with such things.

Best I can tell, it was trying to say something along the lines of, modern weapons don't exist in the fairytale world, and fairlytale creatures don't understand them. Therefore, the "intent" of attacks from modern weapons can't be transmitted, and they just disappear without having any effect. I'm not actually clear on a few parts, but most of what it's saying doesn't even begin to make sense if you're working from the assumption that modern weapons poof fairytale creatures into dust just by touching them. Like, ロケット弾でも効果はないわ would just be "lolwut?", then.

Well just speed translated that part, but what it essentially is, is:

"Ok, look, us, we are magi living IN the present. There are things we can't do, and it should be obvious but we're no match for modern weapons.
In the twentieth century–well, thanks to a lot of wars–the evolution of weaponry has gone ahead of us.

What she is using are different. They're monsters that disregard however technology advances.
Like that breadman? Automatic pistols won't work on it. Probably because it doesn't understand them."

Aoko points to the outside from the counter.

"Alice's familiars are all mysteries kneaded from fantasy.
They're impossible from their premise, so they don't reconcile well with normal physical laws, for the very natural reason of fantasy and reality not being able to coexist.

"...I see. So breadmen are those moving loafs of bread."
Soujuurou, ignoring the majority of Aoko's explanation, paid attention only to the parts that interested him.

"...Going back on topic. Modern weapons have terrible chemistry with them. Even rockets won't have any effect on them. They can't communicate with each other, there's no sharing of order.

"To these monsters from fairy tales, whatever doesn't exist in their world, whatever they don't understand will evaporate without touching them.
What will work on them is magic energy with the same mystery. It's like they’re in some conceptual space, conceptual universe, or…”

“……”

“…..Ahem. Basically, they’ve got this special rule of “tradition protection”, and just simply strong power, strong magic has little effect. If you don't attack their weak point in the fairy tale they were based on, you can’t defeat them. “
