No, I tried to sign up for Youtube (admittedly with an throw-away e-mail address), and it asked me for my phone number. It's definitely not just a "conspiricy", although it's possible that it only applies for certain e-mail addresses (ones which Google considers to be dubious). But, if that were the case, it would be much simpler if they just stated that, and then explained that, if you want to go further, you'll need a phone number to continue, and also gave you an alternative option.

I have chronic sinusitis. My family has a history with it, and we especially have allergies towards dust and pollen.

Tbh the only American style 'Donuts' available here are from Krispy Kreme...
And they are damn expensive... (according to currency conversion) nearly $2 a 'donut'!
