Now that I've run through Birth by Sleep as a non-KH fanboy, I can actually say that the battle system is damn near perfect. The ONLY thing I would have added to it, which I can understand why they didn't because 1) the PSP had no room for it like the PS2 controller did and 2) it would have made things too easy, would have been to input the shortcut window from KH2. But seriously, they've gone all the way to the top right there, aside from that shortcut thing, there is nothing more they can add to this system that I know of to make it more perfect.

At least that bit isn't so bad ^^;;;;; the way torrents work is like one of the greatest gifts ever to net nerds. What would have been (what was) heartbreaking would be going away for a bit, then coming back only to find out your direct dl was cancelled because of a network hiccup T-T

So...I have just heard that the annoying 12 year old kid who thinks he's better than me has come out of the closet.

Ok...I don't think a 12 year old kid understand what being gay truly means. I'm not saying I understand it either since I'm not gay, but it delves far deeper than just liking boys.

I'm tired of getting angry at that kid since he's been a total dick to me the entire time we know each other. I'll just avoid meeting him and stay my hand despite the fact that I want to smack him silly for getting ahead of himself.

Oh. Oh, wow. Just found one of the more hilariously dumb blogs I've seen in a while. Creationist, attempting to address the idea of carbon dating, asks "How difficult do you think it is for God to change the half life of carbon in the universe, seriously?" Yep, your God selectively alters the half-life of carbon to ... screw with our heads? To discourage us from trying to be rational people, attempting to work out the rules of the (his, supposedly) universe? Oh, how wonderful and virtuous a life we will lead, cowering in the darkness and praising our ignorance. You, and this hypothetical version of God, can just piss off.

What's worse is that he follows it up by saying "By the way, I'm not saying He did.". Then what was the bloody point of you bringing it up, you Luddite moron? To try and look like more of an idiot than you evidently already are?

lololol. That person is really stupid. If you're gonna make the carbon half-life argument, the way to go is to say that you can't assume the carbon content of those organisms is comparable to those of current organisms. It's still a stretch, but it's more believable than God trolling the natural decay of a substance highly useful for life on earth.

Also, carbon dating isn't actually used all that much. Other forms of radiometric dating are preferred, since carbon has a short half-life in geological terms.

As for "Screwing with out heads", and us living a virtuous life cowering in the darkness? Pffft. Ahahaha.

What God, that wants His creation to believe in Him through faith, would leave any way to confirm or deny His existence? The person who wrote that blog is clearly delusional to even be considering something like that. If you are confident in whatever the hell belief system you adopt, you are not going to have doubts when other people who chose their own path- as they have full right to do so, bring something to light to smite whatever the hell you worship. However, the people who rage on delusional Theists like him are no better- I dare say, they're far worse, in terms of being a simple pain in the ass.

*sighs* This is why Religion should never be publicly discussed on the Internet. People are too stupid- especially when you give them a mask to hide behind.

Dunno. He's a bit of a weird one, though, so I don't think I'm likely to guess. Sometimes he's meant to be receptive and grant miracles when people ask for them, sometimes he asks for faith without proof. And, honestly, it seems really weird to want your creation to have faith in you. What's the problem with there being constant and observable proof that you exist? Why are we only granted these ephemeral and inconsistent manifestations?

I don't pretend to know the answers to any of those questions, so the only reply I can give to your question (however rhetorically it was meant to be posed) is, "No idea, and it really baffles me."

However, the people who rage on delusional Theists like him are no better- I dare say, they're far worse, in terms of being a simple pain in the ass.

Delusional idiots need to be called out and shown where to go (the relevant section of the library). Whatever they're being delusional about. If this was an avowed atheist making claims of any similar sort, I'd have brought him up too, and laughed in precisely the same way. To sit back and watch is just screwing them over, and screwing humanity over, because ignorance may be bliss, but it's the bliss of not knowing that a hungry tiger is creeping up behind you. We have the wondrous, beautiful potential to understand. Letting it be seen as OK to avoid educating yourself, letting more people drop themselves into that mire of ignorance, and possibly letting future geniuses who could improve our knowledge and our lives enormously just end up uninterested, unmotivated and not even aware of how incredible they could be, is a vile thing.

So, if not letting ignorant people and their silly beliefs be makes me a pain in the arse, then I'll happily be one.

Idiocy is only contagious among idiots. Other words, it isn't. If one man refuses to believe that there is a hungry tiger behind him, let him be eaten. And of course, people still at least have their survival instincts to run away from the marauding tiger. You can't blame him, he did not listen.

I simply stated that if you're gonna use that argument, you have to do it in a manner that doesn't just make shit up. Creationism can't be taken seriously if you don't follow some sort of logic. As such, you have to attack the primary assumptions of the argument, since the logic the logic has to be intact. I don't subscribe to the assumptions I stated, so you don't agree with me. You agree with the necessary assumptions I stated that must be made if you hold a Creationist view point and want to be taken seriously.

Not reckoning that's an excuse just to leave him be. If he doesn't listen to what's being said (and you're right to say that he's unlikely to), then it's his choice, but I have give him the opportunity to listen. Sure, he's probably been given the opportunity in the past, if he's bringing this sort of thing up, but is there really a problem with giving him one more?

And this is where I think you're not being cynical enough. Culture can be extraordinarily pervasive. Particularly if one is brought up in it from birth, even incredibly reasonable people can take to absurd opinions and outlooks. Leaving the ignorant alone isn't going to somehow divide the world into the educated and uneducated, or the reasonable and unreasonable. It's just going to spread and make more people miserable. Despite the fact that there's very little absolute difference in the cognitive capabilities of women and men, most societies put men in the dominant role and limited what women could contribute. That's stupid, but it held true for centuries, across tens of thousands of square miles of land. Wouldn't it have been better if humanity had recognised equality earlier?

And the ugly potential to ignore that we could do so. Moreso a hilarious potential to make a faux pas despite being learned men.
Indeed. So we should try to minimise the use we make of our crappy abilities and maximise the use of our best ones.

Which is appalling and should be stopped, whether it happens because of greediness for power, madness, ideological violence or whatever else. So ignorance has, as a result, a crappy outcome that many other stupid things lead to. Still means we have to address it, just as we ought to address the problems of tyranny, of insanity, of violent radicalism and everything else. When the opportunities are there, let us seize them. And here's an opportunity, however small, to address an educational failing.

You can't blame them for hating you because you are a so-called "pain in the arse". Oftentimes help is refused by people who are either ignorant, vainglorious or simply demotivated.
Like I said, I'm happy for them to think of me that way, so long as it's because I've been able to do what I want - to try to address problems of ignorance. And I was more addressing NZXT, the uninvolved person, who implied that he thought I/people like me was a pain in the arse. And I'll still say that that's fine, because being thought of like that matters far less to me than even the attempt to get people to think and to understand. Honestly, I don't really care what they think, or what they try to understand, so long as they're not keeping themselves in the dark. And I have the hope, the very optimistic hope, that a fully educated opinion, one which has been thought through completely and scrupulously examined by the one who holds it, won't be a bad one, and that it'll bring some good to the world.

Yes. You're going to make him think he's persecuted and, by logic of these people, they think that when you are persecuted, you are in the right. Giving him a lecture potentially could solidify his beliefs because of this kind of thinking.

And this is where I think you're not being cynical enough. Culture can be extraordinarily pervasive. Particularly if one is brought up in it from birth, even incredibly reasonable people can take to absurd opinions and outlooks. That's stupid, but it held true for centuries, across tens of thousands of square miles of land. Wouldn't it have been better if humanity had recognised equality earlier?

First of all, I am not trying to be hardly cynical. Doing so is ignorance. Second, the Great Knowledge Divide is actually happening right now. Yes, the effects of ignorance do spread, but ignorance itself can be stopped by knowledge. The problem is, this is like a war, both sides think they are in the right, a matter of beliefs, between people who think reason is evil and people who think ignorance is evil. So there's always a stalemate between these two things. Besides, why do you think the supremacy of the unreformed Roman Catholic Church during the Medieval Ages lasted the whole age itself? Because people who want reforms get labelled as heretics and get burned in the stake. And that's just one tactic. Not until the Protestants made unreasonably radical actions only the Church was shaken. Same thing with this Divide. They might say that the pen is mightier than the sword but actually, the pen only comes after the sword. You have to shake the enemy if you need to win. But expect the enemy to do the same thing. It's long fight, really, that sometimes the original commanders aren't alive anymore. Third, are you implying that ignorance only roots in authoritarian patriarchy? Because you statement about men being put in dominant roles by most societies just hints of second-wave or even third-wave feminism, and feminism isn't the topic here, rather ignorance and reason, things that can root from virtually everyone.

Indeed. So we should try to minimise the use we make of our crappy abilities and maximise the use of our best ones.

I'm not talking about abilities. I'm talking about the nature of humanity, which is to say we do things unreasonable sometimes.

And I have the hope, the very optimistic hope, that a fully educated opinion, one which has been thought through completely and scrupulously examined by the one who holds it, won't be a bad one, and that it'll bring some good to the world.

Sometimes, it's not an educational failing, but a failing for how people get nurtured. As I said, some people, even learned ones, have the potential to be the evil in this world by being smug about their learning, by manipulating the ignorant populace, by making unreasonable actions that they can justify with reason and mainly alienating the populace when they finally discovered that they have been duped, moreso by an intellectual. So there, these duped people eschew reason, take arms and start a revolution, then they make actions that mainly target intellectuals, even to the point of killing them, because they remember they were deceived by learned men and now think all learned men are deceitful. What's worse? It could be the other way around. Intellectuals oppressed by fanatical yet ignorant people, intellectuals disillusioned, they try reason and it fails, they finally take arms, make systematic wrongs if their revolution succeeds, be an example to the future populace if their revolution fails. Such is the course of history.

I'll take a shot at that.
Allow me the privilege of arrogantly (and no doubt futilely) attempting to answer this from what I perceive a God's point of view would be, based solely on my subjective history and objective reasoning.

... *ahem*

Where would the fun in that be? If everyone you created were to gain access to Paradise, then what purpose would their be for a Paradise to exist in the first place? As to good and evil, Paradise must have a Hell. So that the residents of Paradise may distinguish themselves from the residents of Hell, as those who perceive themselves as/are perceived as being good distinguish/are distinguished between those who perceive themselves as/are perceived as being evil.

And if this were a perfect world, then your efforts might not be in vain. However, as I am sure you (at this moment, you in particular) are well aware- this world is not perfect. You can correct the idiot all you want- be they a religious nutcase relying solely on blind faith because they do not believe in whatever they want to believe in enough to open their eyes to it, question it, and find the answers to that, the avowed atheist who wants to spew shit about how all religions are evil, or how one certain religion is evil, citing numerous sources for what he perceives to be fact, all the while covering his ears and turning his eyes from the people who try to tell him that the religious nutcase screaming to him on the side of the street or the leader of the cult he joined was wrong... Or even the Scientist who has faith matching that of the religiously devote that his theory is correct, and will blame the fact that scientific evidence continues to prove his theory as false, blaming it on unseen variables, unknown unknowns, or what have you, faithfully believing in whatever the hell theory they've concocted... Where was I going with this? ... ... ... . . . Oh! Right, you can attempt to correct them as much as you like, they will continue to believe themselves to be in the right, and disregard whatever anyone who says otherwise has to say as being in the wrong.

To sit back and watch is just screwing them over, and screwing humanity over, because ignorance may be bliss, but it's the bliss of not knowing that a hungry tiger is creeping up behind you.

If you are in a situation where a hungry taiga is creeping up behind you, what good would knowing possibly do? Be it a match of speed, strength, or, for some people, even wits, having that information will not do them a lick of good. It'd just alter their final thoughts to being those of dread, instead of confusion and possibly remorse for not knowing for what purpose and/or by whom you were killed... Well, neither dread of remorse are exactly pleasant last thoughts.

Bit, er, arbitrary for what I commonly conceive of as God, but fair enough. And I can certainly respect that initial disclaimer as a nice piece of self-awareness. Even if an argument seems sound, I tend to be wary of people who say that they understand any divine being completely, and that this must be the will of God. Somehow, you feel that it shouldn't be so easy to find out the mind of something so ... cosmic.

Oh! Right, you can attempt to correct them as much as you like, they will continue to believe themselves to be in the right, and disregard whatever anyone who says otherwise has to say as being in the wrong.

Maybe. But people can change their views. I used to be ... if not homophobic, then quite convinced that homosexuals were outside the norm and that they shouldn't ever be thought of as part of 'real' society. I bought into stereotypes and other silliness. Then I had my opinion changed by several factors, over time. Information, knowing gays, these sorts of things. So I became accepting - years after, I came to understand that I even preferred girls myself. You approach it so negatively that I think you're doing yourself and people generally a disservice. Great revelations after a single debate are pretty much the stuff of movies. But if you consistently, patiently, and helpfully try to address someone's ignorance, I believe that you can get through to them. Not everyone, most certainly, but enough.

Or you might be able to load your hunting rifle and get ready, no? One of those advantages we have over the big cats. :p

. It's refreshing to have one with someone who obviously knows their ass from their elbow... I give you 5000 points, a bit of respect, and a pass for the possible event that you were to cross my path when I'm feeling unstable and likely to do something stupid, like rage at someone.

Ask Ivan, he knows how rare those passes are :neco_arc:

There's nothing wrong with having been homophobic. There's nothing wrong with having been anything- rapist, murderer, tax collector, telemarketers, dictators, tax collectors, et cetera (at least by my limited viewpoint- things like the Law may think otherwise), what matters is what you are now... Well, at least in the moment. I'm not going to say that a person's past doesn't matter, as a person's past inevitably shapes a person's present, to an extent, and will continue to shape a person's future, but regardless, fault nor blame should carry on coming from anything... Well, enough of my Chuunibyou pretentious hipster bullshit philosophy, point is it's great to see someone open minded about sexuality.

Or you might be able to load your hunting rifle and get ready, no? One of those advantages we have over the big cats. :p

Hm... In my scenario, the tiger was but a few meters from it's prey, but, yes, if granted a couple dozen more meters, then it might make a difference, after taking in all the variables- how quick you can load, how good a shot you are, how hungry dat taiga is, et cetera... Still looks bleak, but it could make a difference.

Then I suppose I should thank you. :)

So many hypotheses. You should just move to the Great White North, and change the situation to involve a polar bear. Of course, in that scenario a single hunting rifle wouldn't be of much use. Often the Inuit people just use their harpoons on attacking bears.

9.30 pm
1 Yoshinoya teriyaki chicken bowl (16g fat (mother of god), 47g protein, 750 calories)
1 braised egg (7g fat, 8g protein, 95 calories)

Total = 45.6g fat (FFFFFFFFFUUUUU-) , 92.2g protein, 1435 cals

By scooby's calculator I need 3 meals a day, each carrying 527 calories, 39g protein, 11g fat. Totals to 1581 cals, 117g protein, 33g fat

I have no idea what the exact values are since my school cafeteria uses some asinine point system that obfuscates the nutrition facts of the food and only gives a solid value in grams for protein. But I know for sure that today I ate 188g protein, and at least 100g of both carbs and fat, totalling in around 2824 calories. I could probably stand to be eating more to balance out what exercise burns, but idgaf.

Honestly, you're not going to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, and as long as you're eating at a deficit you're going to lose weight. And it's not like fat is necessarily bad, either.

He already went through the asshole to bro phase.
He had his lovely tragedy.

Really, talking about his family was the last thing they could really add. Just in talking to him during The Journey, you could already tell he had a level of respect and a sense of maturity that dwarfed everyone else.

KENTA

It was just unnecessary. Why add on to Junpei's past when you can talk about his present? He was such a good character that it just felt like a gigantic step backwards. You're right, he matured so much during the game and it showed in The Answer, so have him take that spot. Have him be the only one who can move past the end of P3, have him take the reigns. Aigis can still be your main character, but Junpei can be the go to guy. You can especially make good use out of that by having him be the only person to point out "Does anybody else think it's weird we appointed Aigis the leader just because she has the same power as Minato?". There was a lot they could have done but that they didn't.

I really liked Jumpei because that's exactly a kind of character most of us relate to. He tries hard even though he derps at times and Yukari still calls him Stupei, he had a nice subplot that slowly and surely helped with his development via his ties with Chidori (And in effect also managed to change her bit by bit), he comes into terms into how much he's able to help out in SEES while not having to worry about being more awesome than the MC anymore because he has become his own man and I tihnk he's has grown up a little and it shows on The Answer.

Even if some of his personal stuff feels as though it got thrown in for some people, it adds an extra layer as to why Jumpei felt that he wanted to prove himself to anyone and feel the way he was during the original game. I also think that holding a two-handed sword is kinda amusing and good, even if it's a bit unorthodox.

Sei
June 11th, 2012, 02:59 PM
@Kentai

Put simply, that simply isn't Junpei.

Sure he would make a great go to guy at that point, but him and Aigis weren't exactly close to begin with. And at that point I seriously doubt that Junpei would care to be a leader. If anything I think he's too humble to accept such a role *shrug*. In fact, I have the feeling that Junpei would prefer for Aigis to be the leader because of her relationship to Minato, her level-headedness, and general concern for living. I mean... Yukari was definitely out of the question, Mitsuru agreed with her, and Akihiko pretty much didn't care from what I could tell. But I digress.

The main problem Junpei faced in The Answer (the closure to the story) is that his character had already achieved closure. So really, he kind of took over Yukari's role of being the "most relatable" character *shrug*. And having drunks as parents is fairly average.

Chaos Greyblood
June 11th, 2012, 03:05 PM
I never said anything about him needing to step up as a new leader. What I meant is that since he saw MC's badassery and how he manages to get things done, Jumpei felt as though he wasn't doing much to help out the team. He felt overshadowed and so the jealousy and the need to prove himself a lot would threaten to come to a head and put him in dangerous situations, as reckless as some of his actions were.

Not only did he come in terms with himself, I think he basically managed to become a better man and outgrew the need to be more awesome as the leader or wanting to be one while keeping his experiences close to his heart. Granted, it looks as though he's a follower now, but this is one guy I'd like to have at my side when things get rough.

Also, I think he just wanted everyone to blow off steam and be able to sort out their issues until they were more calm in taking the decision, which is why he went for a more neutral stance in The Answer. Yukari wanted to see the MC one more time and Mitsuru supported her decision because she felt solidarity as she had also lost a loved one. Akihiko wanted to respect the MC's sacrifice and felt that all his work to keep the world in one piece would be severly compromised if they turned back the clock and had to face Nyx again and Ken helped him out. While Jumpei didn't take sides of the argument, he felt that they had to slow things down and be able to take a decision a lot better if they calmed down instead of reaching a means to an end they'd regret later out of unbridled emotions.

KENTA
June 11th, 2012, 03:06 PM

Chaos Greyblood
June 11th, 2012, 03:26 PM
No personality at all? Really, Sei? I guess you didn't see Mitsuru's side of things with enough detail.

She had to go through a lot of things herself too. She did her part while making sure the others didn't splurge with their responsabilities, be it on ther studies as well as their nightly sorties in Tartarus and the nights on the full moon. She had been at this the longest since she was a young girl and so she comes across as the most experienced and though some may not agree as to why she kept some facts at the begining, I think I understand why she had to do that. She had to be strong for the sake of the group because she felt that she had to finish to clean up the mess that the Kirijou Group did with their experiments with the Shadows and also because such an undertaking would be taxing without having to make it too personal.

For a good while, I felt that she was a pillar to the group and while the MC took the lead, I doubt things would have gone as nicely if she wasn't there. Then came the huge reveal about the Shadows and the coming of Nyx, no thanks to Ikutsuki here, and the death of her father got to her like a bomb that brought down a big house. She was in pain because all the work and effort she invested into hunting down and stopping the Shadows only to having helped out in the coming of The Fall basically felt that it was for naught. I mean, it's hard to get up from that emotionally when you had such a double whammy that included seeing your father dying right in front in your eyes in the hands of a madman. Yukari helped her out a lot and Mitsuru slowly managed to pull herself together and as a result she came back a stronger person and with a renewed purpose. She has a shot to make things right again and by God, she wasn't going to let anything else stop her.

Also, her Social Links brought out a more cuter, curious, personal and special side of her which only made me love her all the more. It's funny and nice to see a wealthy young lady like Mitsuru starting to discover things and experience more stuff like a normal person. It's one of my favorite Social Links in the game, even though it's been quite a while since I played it last.

God, I should pick it up from the beginning once again.

I think that if there's more development, the archetype by itself won't have to look or feel shallow. Things can work out if you can make it work from a story standpoint.

Still, if you can't see it, that's fine. It's your own thing. At first, I admit I liked Mitsuru because she was hot and I got the game. Then I saw her backstory thoughout the game and it came full circle to me because I now felt that she's more than just a wealthy and lovely lady. I hardly looked back ever since.

Well, I did learn something when I watched videos of that boss fight. If you use Taunt + Dekaja, that enemy's done for. Also, I think it's possible to kill off both Grimehkala and Cu Chulain for the long run because that combo becomes pretty annoying the longer the fight continues and you have to revive your party again and again. It's always a good thing to get those special items that don't run out of use no matter how many turns you need in order to heal and recover. Getting them becomes extra important.

I need to stop buying horror games. I don't have the nerve to play them for more than a couple minutes.

Whoa, I hope you haven't played any of the 90s horror games, Koto.

Betcha she bought Amnesia.

Kotonoha
June 11th, 2012, 04:44 PM
Actually I bought Amnesia ages ago, and it definitely applies.

This time it's Penumbra, which is basically proto-Amnesia, so I'm not entirely sure why I thought I'd be any better at it. What's that, game, you want me to go into a narrow tunnel? NOPE I'M OUT

Sei

Betcha she bought Amnesia.

That game makes me laugh.

@Koto

But if you go into the tunnel, you'll know where the enemies are coming from. :P

You should play Bright in the Screen. The only horror game that actually scared me.

MZeroX
June 11th, 2012, 04:47 PM
That's why I want to play it. Too much monotony for me, atm. Something weird would be interesting. For a while, at least.

Weirdest game I remember playing is Call of Cthulhu.

You know, I've never used the cigarette lighter in my truck. Well, I bummed a cigarette off of a stranger after buying some Dokupe, but got home to realize I had no lighters, nor matches. After half an hour researching how to start fire with sticks, I remembered the one in my truck. Never bothered to figure out how it worked either, so I was kinda curious. I'll just cut this short: it works, and ouch.

That reminds me, I haven't jacked off to a Lovecraftian Abomination in a while... To the booru!

Fingolfin
June 12th, 2012, 12:59 AM
Yeah, but human meat has a certain consistency that does not go well with it. That, and it's really chewy. You have to tenderize it first.
