Women actually drew a line on the back of their legs to create the illusion of wearing stockings during the shortages.

Tights were pretty huge in Renaissance male fashion.

Would make sense for a woman/man of science and engineering like Leonardo to wear more practical clothes. Not saying these are entirely practical, but surely more than a dress would be.

Im reserving my vote until Nero's other versions

But i do like Mashu a lot.

Marie Antoinette is a great character, but her design isnt that amazing, its just a mixture of her actual looks and that one kancolle girl

Or the large amounts of radiation astronauts would be exposed to in interplanetary space on the long trip.

- - - Updated - - -

There's also the problem of there not being a magnetic field to protect from solar radiation once they get to the surface. Any realistic attempt at colonization would require vast underground networks so that many feet of martian soil could block much of it out.

- - - Updated - - -

Even under ideal circumstances any possible hope of terraforming Mars would take hundreds of years at the very least, if not more than a thousand. That's not even taking into account monetary cost and resources.

It's actually not quite as stupid as it sounds. Releasing the frozen carbon dioxide and water could serve to warm the planet as well. Carbon dioxide and water vapor serves as a good greenhouse gas. Aside from the whole preexisting radiation problem only being made worse. I'm not talking a few nukes either. It would take a ton.

A major problem is that Mars is tiny and its gravity cannot hold its atmosphere together for long and solar flares would just blow any new atmosphere away.

And yes, this is also the cause of high radiation levels because being tiny means you got a weak magnetic field :(

That is true to an extent I suppose. Another problem however is that the Martian soil is covered in perchlorates that are incredibly toxic. And no, we can't nuke the perchlorates away. It would also greatly interfere with any data recieved while doing research on the planet.

If I remember my planetary geology right, this is more because Mars doesn't have a systemically rotating core anymore. Might also supposed to be compositional? Don't remember.

This too. The weak magnetic field also allows the atmosphere to be blown away even faster than it might if it was just left to drift off on its own.

Well, it's both ( core and size ) to be fair.

Being a geologically dead planet, with no seizmic activity and no active core, definitely gives you trouble in the 'ability to create a magnetic field' area.
Couple that with being only slightly larger than Moon and you got yourself a planet with serious obstacles to terraforming.

In its geohistorically efficient - negative - sense, protestantism
exhaustively defines itself by refusing the authority
of Rome, not only in principle, but in military fact. A
self-prolonging runaway revolt against the Church was
triggered at a date proximal to 1500, and catholic unity
began its haemorrhage into multiplicities strewn across
zero: capitalist terraprocess, net explosion, digital revolution,
parallel insurgency clambering from the dark-side of
the brain. Oceanic navigation and place-value calculation
interexcite in a spiral. What globalizes itself in reality -
rather than in doctrine - is the collapse of Christendom
positivized into communicable social disequilibrium ,
dropping you through unfathomable intensities of social
decay. K-virus impact. Melted-out protestantism disorganizes
into voodoo, and drifts towards China.
Western orgasmic delusion crushes libidinal fluxes
under punctual-hit teleology and its negative structuration,
defining desire as lacking in relation to a bioenergetic
spasm that functions as disintensifier. News programming
chokes with radical Islam flaring-off petro-revenues
into the pure flame of jihad. Metropolitan masculinity
implodes. Skinner-boxed males drag each other through
dungeons dripping with sperm, out of touch with any
release into K-guerrilla anticlimax. Rationalizing patriarchy
locks into a one-way rush to the end.

You'll have to read it yourself to decide, but I would consider it - though pretty firmly on the anti-capitalist side - quite nuanced in its presentation. It's not a socialist tract, but an engineering manual for socialist tractors.

The father's law: 'don't touch your mother.'

K codes for cybernetics.
Bataille incinerates the soul, and is impossible to
endure. You either die or go somewhere else. Or both.
Clicking on the K-war icon jacks you straight into hell.
On all fours, out of your face, mumbling imploringly:
'let me be your lab animal' . You're losing it.
Collapse into now. Time-zero.
You have been dumped into a heterogeneous patchwork
of criminal experiments converging upon decapitated
social formations. This is where base materialism
intersects cyberpunk, FUCK TOMORROW scrawled on

Five candles thicken nocturnal space.
Dimensionality warps.
Modernity invented the future, but that's all over.
In the current version 'progressive history' camouflages
phylogenetic death-drive tactics, Kali-wave: logistically
accelerating condensation of virtual species extinction.
Welcome to the matricide laboratory. You want it so badly
it's a slow scream in your head, deleting itself into bliss.
Burnt meat dangling from the electrodes. Crashed
suicide fragments into occult impulses . . .
In the place of a way forward they deliver a hypermedia
product, telling you it's about Georges Bataille. You can't
see the connection. Why the helicopters, artificial bodyparts,
and manically dehumanized machine-music? There
is some confusing material on the cybernetics of vomiting.
Obsessive reruns. Text decays into the mutagenic fall-out
from virtual thermocataclysm. Trying to to make something
out of Bataille never works. Or maybe it's the drugs.
Cut to poor quality late 50S recordings of Bataille in
a TV studio discussing negative feedback circuitries in
social systems. The organization of sterilized discharges
slaves cumulative excitement to quasi-periodic cancellation
and reproduction. A vid-window in the corner of
the screen morphs the catholic church into a thermostat.
Bataille curves eccentrically about the horror, but when
he gets close to smooth escalation he blows it. When the
implants go in things will be different.

Here, Land celebrates lesbian violence against "patriarchal endogamies."

Lesbianism takes on a metaphysical role in the text, in short, as Christ with sword in one hand, olive branch in the other.

If 10% of the population are naturally homosexual then 10% of media should be targeted towards those audiences. Seem the only fair way to do it.

I have never seen a yuri that was good. Not one.

Before anyone says it, Utena is not yuri.

Lesbians are good but yuri is bad at lesbians. Kinda like yaoi is not very good at gays, which is a shame, because the true yuri equivalent should be bara, which is great at gays.

Most ironically, yaoi tends to be rather decent at lesbians.

Shouldn't it be good though? Granted that a woman is writing, I mean. Apparently being attracted to another woman is a normal thing in Japan. It's how people always explain that there is nothing weird about Rin feeling up Saber in the chapel scene.

Or is it shit because it's no longer forbidden love?

No they just don't think much of it as long as it's foolish schoolgirls.

Because lesbianism = immaturity and it's a phase that girls can indulge in for a while but are expected to grow out of it and become real women with husbands.

I don't read much, but when I do, my prerequisite is that the author is LGBT themselves.

Also don't like a 'lesbian' story with a love triangle with a guy. If I smell it I run away from it.

Do you have any LGBT literature in the form of actual physical books? I've never been able to on account of what would happen if my family stumbled across them.

Quote of the day.

"The significance of the hiccups has been much debated by scholars."

They belong reading Horner Hornblower or whatever that stuff is.
The Harrington novels? Nah, they're not fascist, they're just filled to the brim with politico-economic doublethink. You couldn't build a coherent society (or societal thesis) out of Weber's sci-fi if you tried for the next two thousand years until we caught up with his postulated future.

CFanged Noumena has some beautiful prose segments if you're willing to treat it as a kind of experimental poetry
Sounds very experimental.

The best Nietzsche translations grant his prose the quality of perfectly replicating the experience of being trapped in an elevator with a frothing-at-the-mouth lunatic
Which is why Nietzsche is actually interesting to read in himself, compared to the back-and-forth arguments of certain schools where dust-dry logic is thrown everywhere as a cover for prejudices, pettiness, and emotional instabilities that run just as deep as Nietzsche's.
(Also blah Dionysiac philosophy blah lucid passion blah I was exposed to too much Peanuts as a child blah).

I really wish I could get some LGBT literature in the forms of books without worrying about my family's reaction if they found it. About the only relative I have that wouldn't freak the fuck out over it is my half sister. Who is a lesbian.
