That's literally almost every single friend who I recommend a manga too.

Because apparently Mahou Shoujo of the Apocalypse and Berserk don't fit their tastes.

Then there's the ones I recommend books to, and then they tell me: "Oh sure, I'll read 'The Godfather' and let you know what I think some time tomorrow!"
Then they never read it and even can't remember the title.

That's just the shock from it, don't worry, you'll get better. Your arm will only start falling off once the bone fractures and bursts out of your skin. It's just a burn, so you should be fine.

The series's "masterful sense of pace", wrote Whitbrook, allows the series to subtly integrate elements of foreshadowing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreshadowing) and worldbuilding (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldbuilding) into individual scenes that almost imperceptibly make an overarching dramatic narrative emerge from what might appear to be "monster of the week (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villain_of_the_week)" episodes.[53] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-io9_16_June_2015-53) The series's conceit of telling a complex story from a child's perspective means that its exposition (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposition_(narrative)) remains "artfully restrained, growing in ambition with the series" and Steven's character, in the view of Thurm.[54] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-Wired_19_February_2015-54) Steven Universe* 's measured pace also allows its characters to become "more complex and interesting than most of their counterparts on prestige dramas",[64] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-A.V._Club_12_March_2015-64) in Thurm's view, developing "as real people and not entities serving narrative functions".[61] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-A.V._Club_7_May_2014-61) The series explores increasingly challenging facets of their relationships, such as the notion that Pearl may in part resent Steven because he is why his mother Rose no longer exists,[65] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-A.V._Club_9_March_2015-65) or the point where Pearl's "all-consuming passion" for Rose[59] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-A.V._Club_15_June_2015-59) becomes self-destructive. Even the action showpieces are on occasion cast as philosophical arguments, such as when Estelle's song presents the climactic fight in "Jailbreak" as the contest between Garnet's loving relationship and Jasper's "lone wolf" attitude.[64] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Universe#cite_note-A.V._Club_12_March_2015-64)

Please enlighten me to the magic of The Solar Anus.

But the copula of terms is no less irritating than the copulation of bodies. And when I scream I AM THE SUN an integral erection results, because the verb to be is the vehicle of amorous frenzy.

Everyone is aware that life is parodic and that it lacks an interpretation. Thus lead is the parody of gold. Air is the parody of water. The brain is the parody of the equator. Coitus is the parody of crime.

Gold, water, the equator, or crime can each be put forward as the principle of things.

And if the origin of things is not like the ground of the planet that seems to be the base, but like the circular movement that the planet describes around a mobile center, then a car a clock, or a sewing machine could equally be accepted as the generative principle.

The two primary motions are rotation and sexual movement, whose combination is expressed by the locomotive's wheels and pistons.

These two motions are reciprocally transformed, the one into the other.

[...]

The simplest image of organic life united with rotation is the tide. From the movement of the sea, uniform coitus of the earth with the moon, comes the polymorphous and organic coitus of the earth with the sun.

But the first form of solar love is a cloud raised up over the liquid element. The erotic cloud sometimes becomes a storm and falls back to earth in the form of rain, while lightning staves in the layers of the atmosphere.

The rain is soon raised up again in the form of an immobile plant.

Animal life comes entirely from the movement of the seas and, inside bodies, life continues to come from salt water.

The sea, then, has played the role of the female organ that liquefies under the excitation of the penis.

The sea continuously jerks off.

you may recall I posted some choice excerpts from Nick Land's 'Fanged Noumena' in this thread a while ago

before Nick Land moved to China to run an NRx blog, he was Georges Bataille's #1 Fan in the Anglosphere; he wrote a book, The Thirst For Annihilation, which is composed of 30% Bataille quotes and 70% pure edge

whether you agree with him or not, Land's writing is honestly just a fucking delight to read; the above book on Bataille I acquired as a PDF in company with a collection of Bataille's translated works, also in PDF form

Bataille himself is usually more lucid than Land, who may very well be a character from a PKD novel incarnated in real life, but he does actually have some interesting stuff to say when he's not writing Stalinist apologetics or extremely bizarre sex scenes

You might laugh but. The thing that broke me was...
In Ask a Policeman, four famous writers attempt to create a crime novel together, with all four of their famous detectives. Each writer would write a quarter of the story. But there was no collaboration between the authors so it became a convoluted mess, the mystery was impossible to solve as it was physically impossible for anyone to have done it. So the final writer had to create a new character to be the killer, in the final chapter, a character who was never mentioned nor appears anywhere in the book. There was even a afterword by the authors that admitted that they had failed the basic rules of the detective fiction.

After closing that book for the final time, I was confused, then I threw the book against the wall and went to sleep.

The lower class way.

Sk-ons. Basically a hard "c" and a short "o".

That sounds counter-intuitive given the ways it's spelled. Also, to my ear at least, sk-ons sounds like a more upper class way. Strange.

The regular kind. Usually with milk but still very strong.

Maybe 3 or 4 spoonfuls of sugar.

I don't know what kind of tea qualifies as regular for the UK. I'm pretty much certain that most Brits would spit out the tea around here like swill.

It's pretty much a cultural thing. I'm not quite addicted to tea yet and I don't have it too often but my my parents are absolute tea heads. I prefer coffee tbh.

I'm the only one in my house who takes sugar with my tea.

He basically ruled through the power of beating the ever loving fuck out of people until they did what he said. He was also really bad at making an empire that wouldn't splinter after his death. Which it did beautifully.
