Realtalk I think the gameplay of these is perfectly fine and fun in a lot of cases but why doesn't any part but 1 have any sort of difficulty.

I'm usually not one of the MUH DIFFICULTY crowd but there's no point to going for the "you are all winners" school of difficulty in a stealth game. The failure state is essential for these. Even 0 detection runs aren't really a matter of skill but of choice.

Stealth games are fun but AC punishes you so little for breaking stealth beyond 1 (and even there the punishment consists of having to play the rythm game they called a combat system back then) that there's no real point to even do it.

Witcher is a way less egregious example of The Sandbox Game than normal, lacking towers and whatnot. It's a sandbox RPG, more like Bethesda titles than The Sandbox Game. Thing is, I don't think it really gets all that much from the sandbox per se. The random miniquest and contiguous world are nice but I have not a care for spelunking and diving for loot.

Well not in the look but in the way of it being open, sprawling and layered. The later continents aren't as good as the first 3 and cauldros is by far the worst. Cauldros is still a cool area but it's not terribly interesting to explore.

Sure the cutscenes and story are cool but the really rewarding thing about the first game was beating the strongest monsters with the fantastic battle system. X capitalised on that and expanded it a lot. They even incorporated the most powerful monster in X into the narrative where as in xenoblade, if zanza was god of all life on the bionis why didn't he just drop avalance abassy (level 120 dragon) onto you and call it a day as shulk is crushed by spike damage?

I mean I don't end up liking any Xeno game beyond certain parts. Saga 1 had some hilarious cutscenes but not much else, Xenogears had that 2nd disk, Xenoblade completely collapses in the 2nd half of the game, and X has basically nothing but environments going for it so far as I have seen.

X has about 120 hours of non stop normal/affinity/story missions some of which do involve tedious elements (get X am mount of thing or kill X monster ect) but those bits don't take very long and you get some cool dialogue out of them. X has a lot of interesting alien races that I didn't even realise existed till I got into playing the game.
