But not required.
Actually it is. You could get fined if you have the training, but refuse to offer first aid to someone who needs it. If you have no formal training you're not required to do anything.
Oh wait I think you're required to call an ambulance, if the person can't call it themselves at least.

How did the blood look? Was it bright red or dark with bits in it?

Nah, I think here you aren't actually required to help them unless you are obligated by training, profession, or being in some way responsible for the injured.

Which is what I wrote really.

Calling the ambulance bit really depends on your good will because it's not really provable.

If someone were hypothetically working on a realistic interpretation of Luvia, how much of a crime would it be for her sausage curls to start a little bit further down on her face instead of right near the roots of her hair?

You mean like for cosplay?

I guess that's more realistic but she's rich and probably has hair stylists working on her every morning so having perfect curls all the time isn't that much of a stretch.

No, I mean like art.

And the hypothetical issue is that the sausage curls starting that high hypothetically make her face look chubbier than it is.

Which I'm sure would not please the queen.

Probably. Let's evaluate the facts here.

1. Clock Tower is basically the seat of the Magic Association.
2. Waver Velvet teaches at Clock Tower.
3. Waver Velvet has enough groupies, I mean, students and former students that are devoted to him, that he could change the faction powers if he wanted to.
4. Tohsaka Rin is probably capable of scaring the shit out of coward Waver Velvet just by existing.

Once Rin beats up Waver, er, convinces him to follow her, she's basically already got control of Clock Tower. Once she has control of Clock Tower, it's relatively easy to take over most world governments. The others can be taken by force but by then, they'd probably just surrender.

Offering first aid is civic duty.

No, it's not. It can actually put you in jail. Calling for an ambulance should be expected, but, short of being a licensed doctor or nurse, one is not obligated to provide first aid to a stranger you meet on the street.

Tel. Co., 18 NY2d 57, 69; Ciofalo v Vic Tanney Gyms, 10 NY2d 294, 297-298). Public policy, however, forbids a party's attempt to escape liability, through a contractual clause, for damages occasioned by "grossly negligent conduct" (Sommer v Federal Signal Corp., 79 NY2d at 554, supra). Used in this context, "gross negligence" differs in kind, not only degree, from claims of ordinary negligence. It is conduct that evinces a reckless disregard for the rights of others or "smacks" of intentional wrongdoing (Sommer v Federal Signal Corp, 79 NY2d at 554, supra).

Well yeah, I meant something like that. Using the example of seeing somebody on the street injured, I'm not going to be randomly carrying around medicine wherever I go.

And how is first aid going to help that person? From what Neir said, nothing external appeared to be wrong, so the normal layman is unqualified to make judgements as to how to help person Neir described. Calling an ambulance and trying to calm them down is about all one can be expected to do if one wanted to interfere.

By the way: Title 12, Chapter 23 ;SS 519:Emergency Medical Care
(a) A person who knows another is exposed to grave physical harm shall, to the extent that the same can be rendered without danger or peril to himself or without interference with important duties owed to others, give reasonable assistance to the exposed person unless that assistance or care is being provided by others.
(b) A person who provides reasonable assistance in compliance with subsection (a) of this section shall not be liable in civil damages unless his actions constitute gross negligence or unless he will receive or expects to receive remuneration.Nothing contained in this subsection shall alter existing law with respect to tort liability of a practitioner of the healing arts for acts committed in the ordinary course of his practice.

I'm guessing you're referencing New York state law because Neir was in New York when this happened, correct? And does this cover the case of someone not attempting to verify that a medicine found on the person in aid is said person's medicine?

Medicine isn't exactly first aid.

Just because the person claims to be the person that the medicine is prescribed to doesn't mean that they are.

This is NY Court of Appeals for reason of being consistent with the fact that I previously posted the law from New York. As to whether it covers the case, tell it to the judge, obviously it doesn't say because this is not how common law works.

I agree, which is why my response to Snow's paraphrased comment of "providing first aid as a civic duty" to be "No, it's not.", as even some region's common laws state that you, the potential Good Samaritan, have no legally binding requirement to act in aid of someone else. Remember when nobody would shut up about American Idol? And now people are like, "oh....is that still around?"

This is the very last year. Because The Voice is destroying them. And is on like seven times a year???

I can't watch the GOP Debate. The part of me that is tempted to do it is prevented by having no control of a TV.

So here's a random thing that I have been thinking about, because of television commercials. I know that a lot of people who are watching what they eat, trying to be healthy or whatever, count calories as one means of doing that. But calories are a base measurement of the energy a food provides, right? So, if a person goes to a sit-down, moderately priced restaurant to have a meal, and that is like their primary meal of the day, then why would a person buy one of those "lighter fare" meals? They're like all "Under 500 calories!" or whatever. But given that they are the same price or more than the basic entrees, which all presumably have some balanced measure of protein and carbs, and are often "lighter versions" of things already available on the menu, why would a person not just order a more calorie heavy meal? If you don't want to eat it all at once, have leftovers.

Why would you pay more to have them give you less food???

And on second thought maybe I need to find a stream of this debate.

Well, because calories consumed all at once actually aren't as effective as spread out calories, since they are just stored up whereas smaller meals are used up as they're eaten. But also, calories aren't the sole indicator of how healthy something is, even though people treat them that way. And usually calorie-heavy meals are heavy in a lot of other crap, too. Which isn't healthy, especially in the context of "stored, not used."

Thats actually not true you know. A calorie is a calorie. Whether you eat 1500 calories in one sitting and then skip the rest of your meals or ten meals of 150 calories each, nothing is going to hangs except you might burn a couple extra chewing more in the latter case. these days more dietitians are recommending people avoid diets where you eat like 6 small means a day instead of 3 normal ones. This is due to A, they don't appreciably effect calorie burn and B, it's really easy for 6 small meals to accidentally become 6 big ones.

it's about satiety.
For instance, if you eat soluble fiber like oatmeal, you feel fuller for longer because it gels up in your stomach, making it seem full.
Same for chia seeds.
But you're right, calories are a measurement of energy in the food. At the same time, if you can eat a lot but it has less calories than empty calorie dense foods, it's better for you overall in those regards.

yet another example of nutritional conventional wisdom and studies being garbage

it changes every other week

It really doesn't change as much as you think. When you get right down to it we have known for a while how things work since it's pretty simple. Calorie intake verses calorie burned. Problem is that's hard. Having less calorie intake verses burned is a hard, long term process. Your body is literally eating itself to maintain basic functions. That's generally considered a bad thing by your survival instincts, resulting in discomfort and random cravings.

since it's hard, people try to come up with other solutions that involve less self cannibalization, and then grudgingly come back home after said strategies inevitably don't pan out.

He is so awkward it hurts.

And, I mean, it kind of is. Nursing homes are very often abusive places that cut corners. Even the best of them simply cannot hire enough people to make sure that all their residents, especially those who are bedridden, are clean, dry, and not hungry all the time. If a person doesn't have family to regularly attend them, even in a nursing home, they are often neglected. And nursing homes are able to seize assets such as property as payment.
