[10:22:50 PM] Strife: ok kirby come up with one

A genie offers to grant you the ability to travel back in time, once, which can be used whenever you wish (as in, the ability is not consumed immediately). If you decline, your memory of this deal will be completely forgotten and you will continue with life as normal. If you accept, you will always remember the moments in times you expended your wish on to run from, or to change, and that you once took this deal.

(the deal will not be refreshed upon traveling back. so if you travel back, and catch up to the time you made the deal, no second deal will be made)

Do you accept?
There's nothing bad about this deal.

i would travel back in time to the time where marie lived

then, i would become Count Fersen, and have an illicit relationship with Marie. but a honourable one. Count Fersen is my idol and I wish it was him. my wish to the genie is to become him, really. I want to be a swedish cute boy

The way all the English -> Japanese speakers talk about the JLPTs, they must have unseen translations in them. Yet you all seem to fear committing to a translation rather than continually revising it toward notional perfection. I don't understand how you haven't been broken of the habit by now.
It's because when translating you thinking "oh if I use this word then maybe someone's going to think of this, which it's not and then it's going to get put on the wikia like this and then everyone's going to think of it like this when it's not."
Translating for a test is a lot easier because there's rubic and stuff. Translating here is a lot different because people wildly extrapolate based on certain headcanon.
For instance, Karna's VS is always translated as Divine Spear. But because it's called a Divine Spear a lot of people automatically assume that means it's a divine construct. Which may not be the case.
I can't think of any other good example right now though

i don't know if it's just me degrading, but i don't think any nasuverse character is that bad

even ciel, really. she's kind of cute. they're all really cute really. nasuverse is full of cute characters.

Well, to this date I don't think there's any TM character I really dislike either, but by just seeing the good things about them you leave no room for discussion.

BTW Dullahan, I think we ended up in some kind of misunderstanding the other night when things got sidetracked away from my original question.
I'm not sure there was a misunderstanding. You had a concept - which had kinda-sorta parallels within the setting - tied to some plot threads that didn't make sense within the setting (MA STATE APPARATUS MUST CAPTURE NOMADIC WILDMAGIC WARMACHINES). Square peg, round hole. The takeaway from this should categorically not be that

Nobody on this site likes rabbit hole thought exercise prompts.
in part because it's simply untrue - some of the best fanfics on this site were borne out of rabbit hole thought exercise prompts - and in remainder because, like, it was two or three people at most (myself included) who even responded to your question. The takeaway is that the Nasu setting, such as it is these days (grumble), cannot be all things to all people.

But you can only change one thing????
If you go back once, you change everything. Maybe you end up changing nothing in the end, or maybe everything changes.

Like, if I used the wish to go back 10 years, it wouldn't be "go in, do thing, go back to future". It would be literally getting "another chance" at some point in your life, to take it in some other direction. So you can travel back to before you were born, because you didn't exist yet. If I travel back 10 years, it's not like there'd be a 10-year-old me and a 20-year-old me, it'd be that I'd be literally be 10 again, and be reliving that part in life-- to repeat the same mistakes or try to change it.

Well, the original question was "are these two ideas compatible", to which the answer is apparently "yes, but not in those terms and not quite with those mechanics", but it got sidetracked into admittedly poorly developed proposals based on gaps in my current information pool.

The bad part is that you choose when to travel back, and that there's only one chance. Say you travel back and mess up everything, what then? Say you use it on something petty, but are left dry once something actually important comes up, what then?

I know the exact moment I would change, and I would do it without a second thought. The scary part is that it might lead to me not knowing some of my friends now, and I hope I'd still meet them, but if I could do this there is one single moment of my life that I would change in a heartbeat.

one thing is for sure, i wouldn't watch anime ever. i only started watching anime in senior year of highschool, but for sure, i wouldn't watch anime then. anime is bad, so is japan. it makes you hollow inside. don't watch anime or you will become like me. same as japan. japan is bad, especially ramen which is just gross

I think there is a significant difference in writing that has to do with literacy and writing that conveys a narrative, and the ability to do the latter is a talent or a very difficult to learn skill. Like, most people can doodle a stick person but very few people can do actual art, but some are gifted or you can make a choice to learn a skill.

But the awakened one, the knowing one, saith: "Body am I entirely, and nothing more; and soul is only the name of something in the body."

The body is a great sagacity, a plurality with one sense, a war and a peace, a flock and a shepherd.

...

Even in your folly and despising, ye each serve your Self, ye despisers of the body. I tell you, your very Self wanteth to die, and turneth away from life.

No longer can your Self do that which it desireth most:—create beyond itself. That is what it desireth most; that is all its fervour.

But it is now too late to do so:—so your Self wisheth to succumb, ye despisers of the body.

To succumb—so wisheth your Self; and therefore have ye become despisers of the body. For ye can no longer create beyond yourselves.

And therefore are ye now angry with life and with the earth. And unconscious envy is in the sidelong look of your contempt.

I go not your way, ye despisers of the body! Ye are no bridges for me to the Superman!—

I take all of the energy with which I normally procrastinate by browsing BL, the internet, and watching anime and channel it into semi-original literature. Plus there's the bonus of immorality and doing something wrong to enhance commitment, like eating cookies your parents told you not to eat before dinner or blowing off chores to read a nice book.

The self-loathing of knowing I've yet again dug myself deeper is drowned out by the rush of satisfaction of having completed another chapter.

I would disagree. I don't know what it's like in Canada, but in America the regulations for Dietary Supplements are pretty terrible.
Namely, there basically are none.

Yeah, it is true that food nutrition is better-absorbed than supplement-based nutrition, but if you're simply not going to eat something in a high enough quantity to get an extra dose of something, it can be worth it to have supplements. I eat plenty of things that should have enough lysine in them, but if I don't take lysine supplements I have health problems that they help prevent.

That is just literally not true. It is true that most people who are born without a defect of some kind can learn almost anything, but people learn different things with more ease than others. Some people can draw from sight with no instruction in elementary school, and other people cannot draw anything but a crude representation to save their lives. If the latter person committed themselves very strongly to art, they could indeed learn to be a better artist than the person who skated by on natural ability alone, but that doesn't change that the first person had a naturally easier time of doing it.

The same is true of writing, singing, athletics...

E: Literally just realized what you're saying is that you can't be certain of the quantity that you're getting out of the supplements

But I would still argue that taking them twice daily is going to give you more consistent exposure than eating fish a couple times a week.
Quantity, quality, and safety.

Generally, manufacturers do not need to register their products with FDA nor get FDA approval before producing or selling dietary supplements. Manufacturers must make sure that product label information is truthful and not misleading. FDA’s post-marketing responsibilities include monitoring safety, e.g. voluntary dietary supplement adverse event reporting, and product information, such as labeling, claims, package inserts, and accompanying literature. The Federal Trade Commission regulates dietary supplement advertising.

I mean take them if you feel you need to but if given a choice between the actual food or the supplement, try to go with the food.
The food's actually probably going to be more regulated than the supplement is as well.

It's actually a combination. You're both right, and you're both wrong.

Some people are predisposed to having certain skill proficiency that makes acquiring or applying knowledge faster. That is the basis for "talent".

However, that being said, people with a naturally high aptitude for something will get nowhere important with it unless they are either in some way exceptionally different (like those with Autism), or take the time to learn and practice. I'm a good example of this; I have a lot of natural aptitude for visual art because of genetic skill predispositions, but until my friend took the time to start teaching me last year, my art was nowhere at the level that it is now. The before and after comparison is astonishing--- like, "this must be five or more years difference in practice" astonishing.

Hello, please do not attempt to kill capitalism, because if you get rid of capital we will all be in what is known as a bad situation.

Und geschah ihm, was dir und was mir geschah,

Doch was vom Essen satt war,

jetzt sei alles schon eingerenkt.
Wenn wir das kleinere übel tragen,
dann würd' uns das größere geschenkt.
Und wir schluckten den Pfaffen Brüning,
damit's nicht der Papen sei.
Und wir schluckten den Junker Papen,
denn sonst war am Schleicher die Reih.
Und der Pfaffe gab es dem Junker,
und der Junker gab's dem General.
Und der Regen floss nach unten,
und er floss ganz kolossal.

Während wir mit Stimmzetteln liefen,
sperrten sie die Fabriken zu.
Wenn wir vor Stempelstellen schliefen,
hatten sie vor uns Ruh.
Wir hörten Sprüche wie diese:
Immer ruhig!

hinter neuen Fahnen her.

was man uns auch immer sagt:
Wer von uns nicht zu kämpfen wagte,
der hat zu verhungern gewagt.
Wir sind Klassenfeinde, Trommler!
Das deckt dein Getrommel nicht zu!
Fabrikant, General und Junker
unser Feind, das bist du!
Davon wird nichts verschoben,
da wird nichts eingerenkt!
Der Regen fließt nicht nach oben,
und das sei ihm auch geschenkt!

Da mag dein Anstreicher streichen,
den Riss streicht er uns nicht zu!
Einer bleibt und einer muss weichen,
entweder ich oder du.
Und was immer ich auch noch lerne,
das bleibt das Einmaleins:
Nichts habe ich jemals gemeinsam
mit der Sache des Klassenfeinds.
Das Wort wird nicht gefunden,
das uns beide jemals vereint!
Der Regen fließt von oben nach unten,
und Klassenfeind bleibt Klassenfeind.

Und der Pfaffe gab es dem Junker,
und der Junker gab's dem General.
Und der Regen floss nach unten,
und er floss ganz kolossal.

Während wir mit Stimmzetteln liefen,
sperrten sie die Fabriken zu.
Wenn wir vor Stempelstellen schliefen,
hatten sie vor uns Ruh.
Wir hörten Sprüche wie diese:
Immer ruhig!

hinter neuen Fahnen her.

was man uns auch immer sagt:
Wer von uns nicht zu kämpfen wagte,
der hat zu verhungern gewagt.
Wir sind Klassenfeinde, Trommler!
Das deckt dein Getrommel nicht zu!
Fabrikant, General und Junker
unser Feind, das bist du!
Davon wird nichts verschoben,
da wird nichts eingerenkt!
Der Regen fließt nicht nach oben,
und das sei ihm auch geschenkt!

Da mag dein Anstreicher streichen,
den Riss streicht er uns nicht zu!
Einer bleibt und einer muss weichen,
entweder ich oder du.
Und was immer ich auch noch lerne,
das bleibt das Einmaleins:
Nichts habe ich jemals gemeinsam
mit der Sache des Klassenfeinds.
Das Wort wird nicht gefunden,
das uns beide jemals vereint!
Der Regen fließt von oben nach unten,
und Klassenfeind bleibt Klassenfeind.
I agree wholeheartedly, let's kill all of the Titans.

my dream is to be from a rich family really.

i mean, imagine. being a cute blond boy who has to learn by piano or he will be beat by his parents. and wearing cute suits and going to parties and being praised for being the new heir to "insert rich family". then being forced to marry a cute girl from adifferent rich family because of politics reason, and making the cute girl feel okay with the marriage because you tell her "i know.. being forced to marry someone sucks.. but i will try to make you happy... i yakusoku"

it's the ideal life really

I don't actually think we should get rid of capital. I think we should get rid of overwhelmingly immoral wealth hoarding on the part of a few people and do things to stop cycles of poverty that are more effective than what we do now.

Excuse? I don't want to kill anyone. I just want to take stupid dragon caves of wealth and do better things with them. There are people who literally have so much wealth that they can't do anything with it, and being stuck in a cycle of poverty is a really bad situation to be in, too.

Put. The. Alcohol. Away.

And you live in Canada, or I'd suggest you pay for a doctor's visit.

Take care of yourself and stop wishing for a life of pointless, meaningless ease that is just a fantasy that is fed to people as an ideal that makes them defend stupid-dragon-cave-wealth-hoarding on the off-chance that they one day get lucky and get their own dragon's lair.

Be realistic. Buy a pretty notebook. Buy a journal to destroy. Buy healthy food. Buy a giant case of soda. I don't care.

Stop wasting your money on things that make you feel worse. You'll be happier.

what do you mean>>>???? pay for doctor's visit??? i literaly just show up to a doctor, show my health card, give my health plan to the receptionists, and gets drugs for free? what does this word "pay" mean>?

That was literally my point. My point is that you don't even have to worry about how the hell you're going to pay for your healthcare. I have to worry about it every day of my life, and because of the way our system is so royally fucked up even the thing that was designed to help people in my situation doesn't. You can actually be too poor to qualify for help with your healthcare and if you receive help you weren't supposed to get you can be liable to pay it back even though the problem was that you had too little money in the first place.

You have literally no viable excuse to keep poisoning yourself rather than doggedly seeking adequate medical care until you get the help you need. None. Go to your doctor, get depression help, stop drinking.
