Civil War will surely deliver.
It will be difficult to fail worse.

My friend said that Dawn of Justice was just a very long series of overblown set pieces exploding and an exceptional waste of good casting.
There were a handful of good casting choices along with awful ones. Also it feels utterly disjointed all throughout on account of the cut half hour. Also Zack Snyder is bad

Steam still says 4 hours?

It would have been better if they looked at the idea, scrapped it, fired Snyder, and came up with something less generally awful.

Though it is unintentionally the funniest movie I've seen this year in theaters

I've already played it.

There's nothing to look forward to, nothing to be disappointed about, except perhaps getting my butt kicked in the online matches which is why I'm getting it.

I liked the opening sequence, but everything after was too rushed. Yeah, I get it, see it all before, blah blah, but... I dunno... when this, that, and then that happened I was just like "OK".

Lex Luthor was genuinely cringe inducing to watch and half the theater was laughing its ass off during the overextended climax. And goddamn they were desperate to actually make Lois have a purpose and still failed

It was actually beautiful how much of a trainwreck it was

Wouldn't go that far, but I do agree the climax was overextended. Very unnecessarily.

Ah. Re-reading Battle Angel Alita makes me think how OP of a Servant she would be.

By the end of the manga she's the third strongest character, after Space Buddha and Caligura (I think it's Cali, not sure). Caligura being (more than?) a 1000 year old 'vampire', who, still considered a mere human, kicked Alita's (much more advanced supersonic cyborg) ass and only let her win because she felt Alita was 'good enough'.

The answer is 'very'.

I'm trying to be excited, but they really missed the mark on making Tony and Steve ever, like, apparently friends. They had a couple of smiling accepting handshakes after spending the entire movie, each time, disagreeing about stuff with Tony making fun of Steve in a way that didn't seem entirely good natured. Even in the trailers so far, they have had nothing to go on, tense rapport wise, except Steve and Natasha, whom they actually had being friends and then ending up on opposite sides. But yeah, it looks like it might be much better.

I can deal with that, just because Civil War as a concept is just so great. This isn't Batman vs. Superman where you just have mistrust as an excuse for people to fight and rake in hype bux; here you've got an actual ideological question that many people are pondering and going to war over for different reasons, with no clear right answer. If they have to bend a few characters to make the concept fit, I'll survive. Besides, I saw Steve and Tony as friendly rivals of sorts in the Avengers films. Sure it's nothing like the Steve-Bruce bromance, but it's not like they never had a connection.

Today, I was subbing for an art class. Since the regular teacher was absent, the assignment was all the same for each class. It involved creating a design with colored construction paper glued to black construction paper. Because the assignment was repeated over and over, some of the colors available dwindled. We got down to the very last piece of blue paper.

A little girl who had very explicitly explained her project of basically making an out of season Valentine's card for her mother, which involved only red and purple paper, approached me. She hesitated, then got up the nerve to come ask for more and asked "Can I have that blue piece of paper?"

The very last one.

I had no reason to deny her request, so I handed it to her. But then it struck me as odd, so I watched her. She returned to her table and wordlessly gave the blue piece of paper to the boy she was sitting next to. She noticed that I noticed. I did not scold or mind, but she looked nervous. She resolutely smiled at the boy anyway. She might have said something. I do not know. He did not immediately reject her apparently unsolicited offer of blue paper.

I continued my task of observation, but a few moments later when my eyes drifted back, I noticed: the solitary remaining sheet of blue paper, intact, abandoned to the center bin of the table where communal supplies are housed. Boy and girl were both working on their respective projects, blue paper elephant in room both ignored and unrealized.

And that, my friends, is how love works, not only in the third grade but for all of life.

Front to back: I'm pretty sure the answer to the last question is "flirting" when you're eight. And I think it was like she gifted him with this paper for no reason except this, and he wasn't immediately very scathing in his rejection, but he didn't know what to do with it. So instead, he quietly put it back where someone else could do it, and I was reading some childish social awkwardness into this situation.

Also thinking of moving over to Scrivener, but don't want to shell out $40 I'm reluctant to spend.

I have used a thing that's free called yWriter that offers a few similar features? It doesn't look as nice, but I enjoyed it. The reason I never really stuck with it is because my thought processes only made some use of the cool features and you have to export it as .rtf and then resave it as whatever you want, so that was a pain, but it was neat.

The paid piece of writing software I have thought about getting is $19.95 for the full version and has a free trial, apparently. It's called ZenWriter and it is a full-screen writing program where you can change the appearance and have a relaxing background image. It also has some type of built-in background music thing which you can customize, and it just seems like it'd be really nice. (Link to website thing: http://www.beenokle.com/zenwriter.html ) But I haven't tried it yet, just read about it.

To be honest, I get mixed up on what third person omniscient is. Like, I know what it means, but I don't really know how one would do it.

And that sounds neat. I only know who Scathach is, but I'd read that I think. I wish I could do one-shots more readily.

Was an accomplished hero in her own right, and self-made goddess (literally by killing everything from men to gods that stood in her way). Original owner and crafter of Gae Bulg (and many other weapons). Had a daughter named Uathach and a sister named Aife. She and Aife had a very bad sibling rivalry.

So my only other option (as messing around hoping to learn as I go is somewhat impossible) is to look up video tutorials and ugh...

Hopefully I can put my 30 day trial to good use.

Don't read the manual, just go and start fucking around. Reference the documentation if you want to know anything specific - there's a ton of features that probably aren't important to you, like all the scriptwriting support.

Well, that was embarrassing.

Had one dog on a leash to take her out and the other one slipped out without a leash. Which, would have been fine had there not been someone walking their own dogs at that very moment. First thing he (dog without a leash) does is run up and bark in their faces, I get him away, apologize as I do, she (the owner of the two dogs) says it's alright, but... well... he gets away from me shortly after and does it again and long story short I get chewed out by this same owner for not putting a leash on him when I had the chance (completely justifiable). Chased him back inside and waited until she left, then got his leash and took him out properly.

Entirely my fault. Lesson learned. And it kinda pissed me off.

I suppose.

It's just stuff like that bothers me. The one time I don't check if someone's out walking their dogs comes back to bite me in the ass.

When my family lived on a less-trafficked street with a big yard and we had only the one dog, she was pretty well-trained to just stay in the yard with no fencing or anything. She is very smart and cooperative and it was extremely rare for her to wander (sometimes she would when it snowed or something and I'd just go get her). My mom has to use a cane, so a lot of the time it was easier when I was at school or something for her to just take the dog out with her and spend some time watching her instead of trying to walk her. One day, right before my school bus got to the house, a lady was walking her two tiny dogs out in an empty, city-owned lot behind a water tank that we lived next to. She didn't have any expectation of there being a loose dog, quite rightly, but my dog saw these dogs unexpectedly and I guess freaked out because she thought that was her territory, too. She is rarely ever aggressive but she kind of jumped them and wasn't trying to hurt them but absolutely was trying to terrify them. My mom couldn't actually get her off, so I had to run from the bus to pull my dog off these poor unsuspecting toy animals.

It happens to everyone who doesn't methodically leash their animals obsessively, even if you're generally a responsible, careful pet owner who's never had problems.

We have a fence now so this doesn't happen anymore.

Wow, I wish I had healthy coping mechanisms like that. Congratulations, good job, etc.

Speaking of dogs, I am kind of worried about my older dog. She's very, very old. She's at least sixteen. Her hips are getting pretty bad. She can still walk but they give on her a lot, and she has fewer teeth than she used to now. We're doing the best we can to preserve them, but for a dog she's ancient. She still seems happy about a lot of things and responsive, but I just wonder where that line is where they're too sick to continue humanely. I kind of hope that she goes peacefully in her sleep someday, but I know that's not usually what happens, and I just really dread ever making the decision to put her down. I don't know how I'm going to do that if it comes to it.

I don't know how I'm going to do that if it comes to it.

If she's in too much pain, then it would be best to euthanize her. If not, let her pass peacefully. I think they'll tell you when it's time they have to go.

Ugh. It hurts just thinking about that.

And it doesn't help I'm writing a sob story + reading about the death of Chyna. You know, the wrestler? Her life was a downward spiral.

I got all teary eyed earlier, but now I just read You's fic and I feel both satisfied that I read a story and like my brain is a calculator. In a good way. I don't... really know what I am experiencing right now. It has nothing to do with math.

But yes, I agree with this assessment, and it's really hard to think about.

And no, I don't think I'm familiar, but I think I have heard of her in this thread before?

I want to write. I got a... very long response on Empty Gold earlier on AO3. And it was weird because I am keeping the AO3 posting one chapter behind the posting on here and ff.net because I am trying to make sure any late-game revisions are posted to AO3 just once. However, I'm not really sure that this strategy is working, so I'm not sure if I should keep it up. Anyway, this person came and posted on AO3 a comment that included stuff about material that isn't there yet, so I was confused. Then, I realized that they had the same username as their ff.net username which means that they read it on AO3 and were so attentive that they read my profile on ff.net which mentions that I slightly prefer the AO3 feedback system. Which is just impressively considerate and well beyond any of my hopes???

Now if I could just... write... more....

Sob story, though? Fanfiction or original?

Both. I actually started a totally different fic before the one I'm working on right now back in the summer but I got to a point where I needed to write some establishing happy stuff to set up the conflict later, but I couldn't do it. I can work too happier or okay but I can't seem to write "people are happy" as like a present state. It's dumb and not worth worrying about, though.
