Almost right on the button when I turned thirteen, I could not stop sleeping. Like, literally, over winter break in 7th grade, I would just sleep. Wake up to go to bathroom, maybe eat something, then sleep more. When school started again, I couldn't actually force myself to wake up to go. I would just be out. I eventually had to leave regular school because I was missing so much time.

It took many months for me to become adequately functional again and every once in a while I'd fall back into this pattern for days or weeks at a time. A decade later, after years of blood work and psychological evaluations that told us nothing, and after finally shaking it off, did my mom and I see something on TV that convinced us I'd had a really rare sleeping disorder.
