Last night I dreamed I was in high school again and Saber showed up in front of my desk in full armor and demanded my clothes (http://forums.nrvnqsr.com/showthread.php/101-Type-Moon-Fanfic-Idea-Thread?p=2458709&viewfull=1#post2458709) because... I think she was going to take an exam? and armor violated the dress code?

It was still my high school, we didn't have that strict a dress code (basically it was "wear clothes") and I'm pretty sure I wasn't Shirou in this dream.

Both of them are really scarred and uneasy and it's partly my fault. I've pretty much taken on most of the responsibility. At least I was responsible enough to actually look up how to introduce a cat a new household, albeit a day late. If I hadn't been an idiot and checked before hand I would have realized far more preparation was needed.

- - - Updated - - -

And also probably should've thrown into question if it was actually feasible to introduce another cat. We had 2 until recently but they where brother and sister. Thing is we don't actually have the space to have a room dedicated to the kitten with all his needs (nobody would want to put a litter tray in their bedroom or the living room basically).

She also hisses when I try to move her from her elevated position on the banister. Also mum fed him wet food in the kitchen even though we had a food bowl for him downstairs. Now older cat wont eat out of the bowl.

I'm not even that worried about their relationship it's just that earlier older cat wasn't eating out of her bowl because I think my mum fed the kitten some wet food in that bowl. Basically we had a dry food bowl and a wet food bowl and instead of buying new bowls for each of the cats we didn't think it thru and brought the dry food bowl downstairs for kitten.

Having merchandise made of you or your Stand ranges from kind of cool to embarrassing. Pens, great: Rohan owns one of himself, unsurprisingly. Figures, fine. Underwear… embarrassing.
Vibrators? Jotaro doesn’t even want to think about that.
“It’s not so bad,” Koichi tells him as he hides his face further behind his hat. “I mean, at least it’s of your Stand and not you, right?”
“It’s close enough.” Jotaro’s cheeks are flaming red. “Who made this?”
Koichi looks over the description again, while Yukako speaks up. “I don’t remember where I bought mine from.”
Jotaro turns to her, too alarmed to keep hiding. “You own one?”
“I bought one just after they came out,” she says.
There’s a question on the tip of his tongue, but it’s awkward… ah, hell with it. “How is it?”
“Disappointing.” She crosses her arms. “It’s definitely priced as merchandise, but it’s just like any other vibrator. For eight thousand yen, I want it to at least ‘ora’ inside me. It doesn’t ‘ora’.”

Actually 25 years is more of a minimum, particularly for males. Recent science suggests that a small portion of the frontal lobe, primarily responsible for future conception, only truly develops starting at age 25 and likely takes to 26-27 to finish forming.

Hissing isn't anything to worry too much about, but it'd probably be safest to isolate the kitten when you can't supervise it.

Also you shouldn't have just one litter tray if you have two cats. You want at least one litter box per cat.

25-26 is about right. Females tend to enter puberty about a year or so before boys do, and that develpmental advantage continues through brain development. Of course, that's only a general statement.

EDIT: oh, you said minimum. Well, 24 then (ish). The above numbers would be a reasonable time to expect the lobe to have fully developed.

Of course. That should be self evident, I mean the development of brain cells and memory connections will always keep going. Well, eventually such things will degrade due to age and what not, but even then you are still going to be developing in certain ways.

no, in this case the situation is...

how is do I put it, all right, you know that bull shit old saw about people only using 10% of their brains? That's in actuality because certain parts of the human brain are best for undertaking/understanding certain tasks. So this part lights up when you take a test, this part lights up when you are doing kareoke, and this one lights up when having disgustingly deviant fetishy sex.

etcetera.

In this case, the 25-26 for girls be 26-27 for boys refers to the last major "area" of the brain to develop. Before that part forms, kids have trouble intellectually conceptualizing the future, hence you have so many 18-24 year old kids who don't seem to think through their actions. Because unless other parts of the brain are (significantly less effectively) aping the ability to process the future, they literally are incapable of truly understanding that present actions need to be regulated so that the future circumstances are optimal.

Well I'm using my tablet right now.

I read somewhere before that the mind can actually keep going for a long time after the body ceases function. But that's something for another time.

10%... I could make an analogy about RAM, memory, and processes right now. In any case, I'm aware of that since our unconscious mind does the majority of our activities. The common example of walking, talking, and going to familiar places. The last part pertaining to the subconscious mind mainly.

I could argue that the lack of discipline or any notion of consequences/cause & effect may play a part. In this case, I'm assuming you mean the people within that age group can not plan for the future critically.

What I was really trying to dig at— to which Leo jokingly provided— were two things.

1. Can you still develop skills, languages, and complex thinking after the brain fully develops. Even after a period of inactivity in learning, like this for example. (https://youtu.be/DwyWMbjstnY)

2. After the brain finishes development, can your soul (consciousness) still develop, and/or overwrite its schemas (psychology)? E.g; prejudices and beliefs.

Tobias
September 3rd, 2016, 11:06 PM
The first one I already answered. The second one is a complex question. The short answer though, is yes.

a good word in psychopathology is "tendency"

its the approriate word to use when discussing a secondary factor that effects the decision making process. Someone who comes from an addictive family tends to display addictiv behavior. Someone who is under the influence of alchohol tends to act uninhibited. Someone with over active testosterone production tends to be violent. Things like that.

These tendencies might be considered an approriate baseline as to how a person will act if there were absolutely no other behavioral influences. However, these tendencies are not always how people do react to stimuli. Interestingly, at times when a person goes against their tendencies, certain chemical reactions in the brain is observable. There are certain salts and chemicals which are absorbed at a much greater rate then what would be expected.

Its a bit of an oversimplification, but it's fine to look at this as free will in motion. In the same way the body consumes resources to move itself, when a person exercises free will to go against a tendency, it absorbs resources to do so. Now, it's worth noting that said actions are still possible even when such chemicals have been exhausted, but that almost inevitably tends (there is that word again) leads to feelings of irritability and high frustration, very similar to how overworked muscles become unable to tolerate actions they might have accomplished when more rested and nutrient rich.

without getting into a religious debate the ability to observe free will in motion is fairly close to what it looked like you were referring to there.

Steven King is the opposite of terry goodkind. Goodkind writes 100-200 good pages in a 600-700 page book

and king writes a book that's generally good but the last 10% aren't good because the last 20 pages should have been the last 200

SeiKeo
September 3rd, 2016, 11:39 PM
I mean arguably it's not like King is an all-time great writer and his holding the crown of the last Great American Writer is due to the post-60s divergence of popular and literate taste but it's what we got to work with

2Bad
September 3rd, 2016, 11:51 PM
Tbh King for me, aside of the Stand, is more about the basis for film than any fondness on my part for his actual material. I've never read Misery or Shawshank and don't care to.

to be dead it'd have to actually be gone, nothing dies in the modern era because anything can find its audience

SeiKeo

to be dead it'd have to actually be gone, nothing dies in the modern era because anything can find its audience
a unique question of the modern era is audience vs/'audience' insofar as there are plenty of works who have an audience yet are totally irrelevant on the wider stream of culture. in this way you can claim theatre as a live art but as a functional matter it's dead (ref Hamilton) same for a good number of other things.

Going strong but has literally no chance of ever being canonical in a meaningful sense of course.

2Bad
September 4th, 2016, 12:18 AM
well obviously not, I was referring to access to the broader cultural sphere in that sense, in which, yes, The Undertaker is more prominent than Infinite Jest

you may feel as you will about wrestling being theatre's widest reaching feature but there you go
