This is me. I've learned to at least write these things down so I don't forget them, but most new plots and stuff don't ever make it anywhere because I can't juggle that much. When I can, I try to steer those sorts of ideas into projects I'm already working on in the form of new characters and themes, and see how they'll mesh from there. When I'm consciously trying to come up with thematic and overarching plot ideas I usually get nothing; bursts of creativity help to refine things and make them good instead of just yet more words on the page. It's why, when I'm writing, I try to listen to music that fits with the story - Greek and Persian influenced songs, for example - to hopefully capture the emotion I'm going for, but that doesn't always work.

Unfortunately I don't really think in mediums, I'm hopelessly stuck on just writing. Maybe sometimes music, but not as much of that anymore.

I'm most likely not the only one, but random things (most often music) make me imagine fiction plots. The first thing that comes around is the visual style and themes, sometimes the characters and some rough semblance of a plot, and then if I toy with a certain idea long enough I start imagining what would be the best medium for it.
