I was mostly joking about the supposed animosity the various -chans have for one another, I've never been to 8chan. But no, I'd say the accessibility and (relative, mind you; you can still get IP banned) uncurated anonymity are neccesary components of the imageboard culture. When there's no username, picture, or past history attached to a message, you can only evaluate it on its own merits. Of course, this system is terrible for anything where an 'expert opinion' might be needed, and any sort of "opinion thread" vulnerable to manipulation (which is why some boards on 4chan, like /b/ and /qst/, have unique identifiers attached to IPs, though they don't work all that well). But that's not what one visits an imageboard for. When nobody's around to police for "bad behaviour" and nobody can "downvote" someone to drown them out, that's where truly original ideas can come out. It also, oddly, fosters the sense of community despite the anonymity; when everyone's equally anonymous everyone's contributions weigh the same.

I guess my point is, I don't think a forum like Reddit could have made something like Katawa Shoujo. Oh sure, people from reddit could definitely get together and make a game (and probably have more than once) but it would never be "a game reddit made"; it would be "a game guys A through Z" made.

Yeah, it does. There's plenty of things to recommend, but if nothing else, I'd suggest you watch it at least for Mark Hamill's performance as the Fire Lord.

I'll be honest: I'm not that much a fan of Avatar. I think it had too much filler and too many bad or stupid episodes, and I feel the show didn't age as well as it could have. But it was groundbreaking in terms of serialised children's animation, and it had plenty of genuinely good episodes, so overall, yeah, it's a show I recommend.

I find that mainly the first season had some really low episodes, but the majority of season 3 is top stuff
Ba Sing Se is either hit or miss, but it's got some of the best moments regardless of how you feel about the city
I'd recommend watching until the end, especially if you're past some of the worse episodes

to say none of the ones who will straight up weaponize such diseases by scratching open sores or biting open their cheeks to spit blood.

anytime the claws come out you always wanna go into medical records to see what’s possible. If they have refused labs, which they can totally do, it can be nerve wracking.

breach and arcade are relatively okay, but grinding steel and xp are essentially doubled or worse, and the system was already a bit too grind-y to begin with

Υes, because that's the only think that was actually interesting enough for me to to remark on. The fact of the existence of people overtly invested in the love life of fictional characters is neither new nor noteworthy.
As for why I still tolerate the lot of 'em: A large dose of inertia, combined with a dwindling amount of goodwill and desire to help "the community". Plus, the guy who started the group and made me a mod was a buddy.

Some years back (2?) I talked with Dully and a few others about a Dead Apostle Ancestor Misaya origin story. It was where she was experimented on by her father, was turned into a pseudo-Dead Apostle, fell in with Altrouge and Dead Apostle politics, etc.

Wrote about 17-20k words worth of that horror before I decided to try a different angle. In this new story, all the events of that fic already happened. In her 30s she's been to hell and back and finds herself pulled back down into it and is basically trying to do what she didn't before: something. Taking action into her own hands, etc. Rin nudges her along and they encounter Celtchar from part 1. Part 1 happens before Fate/apoc. Part 2 (Bazett) is during. Part 3 (Misaya) is after. Part 4 (Cary) is all those meeting up and coming together.

The timeline is a mixture of Fate/heaven's feel (and case files), Apocrypha, and Strange Fake. If I had to say it's most like Strange Fake.

And Celtchar is the only one to be in all 4 parts as a POV. She's the one constant. Starts out participating in a Grail War (part 1), rolling with Bazett & Caren (part 2) then Misaya & Rin (part 3) through to the end (part 4).

Maybe I could do something for that? Dunno yet. Gonna wait and see.

They do standalone but if you're interested in the wider cosmere (the wider world that all his books are set in) then it might be best to read others first. Apparently warbreaker has some links to stormlight so best to read it before stormlight (it's also free on sanderson's website).

I'd rec the first Mistborn novel. Incredibly conceptually tight and has you riveted since page 1 BUT it being YA might put you off. Avoids most of the YA trappings but is still partially about a teen character.
