I didn't really care for 9 that much at first. But I just loved Zidane as a protag. He was a really nice change of pace.

But yeah. 10 made me cry. And it was like the first Final Fantasy that felt complete to me.

No love for FF IV? It was a nice game, good characters and a plot that felt a lot like a Fantasy, if you catch my drift.

I also liked VII, VIII, IX, X and XIII. I didn't listen to the trolls and I ended up liking the last one. It was also very interesting to know they had a menu option in which you can read upon the plot and learn new things.

III on NES: Oh wow, what a really fun game. The adventure is all there, and it's like a really upgraded FF I

III on DS: Holy fucking shit this is awful. Why is it so stupid hard? Why am I doing 50 random battles in the first fucking dungeon?

The Sylentnight

IV was okay. Didn't WOW me but I liked it good enough.

XIII was good. i liked the the way battles were. Character development... got to say Hope and Snow? Not exactly my favorite characters. Neither was Fang.

Lightning OWN'ed though in it.

Kind of makes me wish I has Dissidia 012.

TATICS HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART!!!

Not a fan of tactics. It's a fairly poorly done ripoff of LUCT.

I did like Tactics actually. =3=

And Tactics Advance.

Still looking to get the one on PSP.

Lightning owns in everything.

Especially if you equip her with the Axis Blade. And later in the game when she can use Sentinel... toss on some Nimbletoe Boots...she just about hits god tier.

She's okay is 012, but she takes some getting used to. Medic is useless in my opinion and the main selling points of Ravager are Watera and Army of One. But her Commando role is pretty good if you know what you're doing. But in the end, against experienced players, she's pretty predictable.

Poorly done?! Poorly done?!? KENTA, you gotta get your eyes checked because as I see it, FFT is just one of the more underapreciated games I've seen in games. I think for the most part, its Job System has a lot of depth and gives you room for some great customization as you mold your characters. The plot is one of the finest I've seen and it really has a powerful impact on how the world works in a kingdom like Ivalice, not to mention about the political and religious angles, which to the game's credit it isn't as though anvils will be dropped on your head.

On top of that, combat is pretty nice, there's some good strategy and preparation involved and the characters are damn good too. The sidequests involving jobs posted on the taverns are pretty fun and each one is like a mini-story that's waiting to be visited and well, just like with Fire Emblem you care about the characters in battle, be it the main ones and the generic guys.

Also, Thunder God Cid owns you like a bitch, KENTA. Agrias too.

You're instantly forgiven for IV, Sei. See, this girl knows what I'm talking about. Would it kill for Square-Enix to FINALLY give us FFT for the latest consoles? Not just the handheld ones; I truly want one for the PS3. I think that can really help them save a lot of face and get themselves back at their feet. They're squandering a great opportunity.

Tactics Advanced 2? Or War of the Lions? Cause one is muuuuuch better then the other in my eyes >>

I like Vann. He's got that weird gimmick with his weapons, but attacks are just full of win (especially crossbow).

Gilgamesh...I don't like so much. He's one of those people I have to have an EX build for to consider playing as.

All I did was steal like a crap load of the big swords, added double hand to Ramza, then gave him two Defenders with Parry. I also had a pretty badass summoner and Ninja. I then got Baltheir and used Cid.

Increasing your Brave Points does wonders for your Reaction Abilities. Both Abandon and Blade Grasp are broken when combined with Cloaks and Auto-Potion is a godsend once you get rid of the lesser Potions.

I feel like they nerfed WoL by making everyone better. Assists didn't really help either.

In the first one, his main strength was pretty much that a bunch of his attacks had attack-guard or guard-breaks. This means that you could stagger the hell outta people and practically create punishment games. But that's practically gone now.

Well, at least his case isn't as bad as Bartz. Bartz was a god in the first one.

Prishe, Cloud, Onion Knight, Zidane, Yuna/Squall

I used to use Firion and Gabranth a lot too, but both were horribly crippled. With Firion, he lost the epic Rope Knife. And Gabranth...he was practically made...impractical!

Chaos Greyblood
January 26th, 2012, 10:57 PM
With the right bulds on Dissidia, Grabranth basically became a god of destruction. With some mastery, you can really mess people up with Golbez and Ultimecia.

MasterSeth
January 26th, 2012, 10:59 PM
Ahhh Gabranth, so broken, so very broken (with the right build)

Sei
January 26th, 2012, 11:02 PM
Golbez is Combofiend tier. And Ultimecia seriously got buffed.

But Gabranth is no good for competitive play, even with builds. Assist destroy EX Gauge and this is made worst when people use assist and ex destruction builds. He's slow, horribly, and doesn't have much of a means of fending people off unless he's EX. So until then, you're basically using Dissidia 1 cloud strategy of run away, block, attack, run away. That doesn't fly in this game. And if you do go into EX, one assist attack and it's back to square one.

Not to mention the effect EX duration up has on you in this game.

MasterSeth
January 26th, 2012, 11:05 PM

speaking of nowhere near difficult, a few of the bosses died before i even had a chance to showcase EX-rank frontline attacks. and i refuse to use offensive magic unless i'm at max level or out of magic. so basically i sit there with healing active and spam normals. and then it dies before i even get to use animu cutscenes. oh well, the fact that i can actually progress in the story without throwing a fit like with level 9s is actually helpful. though i still have a bad feel when i know there's girls who want to join the harem after i beat the shit out of them, but i'm unable to beat the shit out of them.

Hmmm....

Start with WoL.

Sei
January 27th, 2012, 04:00 PM
Hmmm....

Start with WoL.

WoL gained some better aerial control with his Shining Wave going up into the air now. But really, not much has changed about him. He's still the standard "balanced" character that is easy to see coming and easy to predict. If anything, he was hurt by the new system because assists can punish the hell out of him and the openings he could create with a bunch of his attacks in the first one are also countered by assists. Also, with EX mode being nerfed the way it is, you can't take advantage of his great attack boosts either. Well, you can with a build, but builds like that are going to cripple you in some way.

He's still the best when in the air with his shield attacks into Bitter End, but again, predictable. Dayflash is there too, but it's kinda slow and easy to avoid. Radiant Sword got better, so it's not completely useless now.

Oh, and Ultimate Shield is a pretty damn useless attack too. The wind-up is slow, but at least it has decent range. But really, I'd only use it if you set up with an assist like Gabranth or something.

Bitter End and Shield of Light is WoL's bread and butter. Also, as always, Blue Fang is a good idea too.

Cloud...Guess I'll start off with cosmetic stuff. Sonic Break has that epic absorb affect now that takes new players by surprise. So really you don't have to be on top of your opponent to land a hit on them anymore. Still easy to do something about, but arguably a lot more useful. Cross Cut got a lot better. I hardly used it in the first game, but I'll use it all the time now. It hunts down people a lot further now and can be pretty scary if you mess up on your dodging. Throw this on top of guard crush, it's pretty much a staple attack. Blade Beam got better. Not sure if it's faster now or if it just goes further, but it has more combat potential now. And I'm not 100% on this, but I've noticed that sometimes it seems to ignore guards. Braver sucks now and the ground version of Meteorain has evil tracking. And lastly I think his Fire and Fira stun people more. Not to sure of this cause I like Blade Beam. But the Fire spells will still be better for mindgames.

As for his new attacks, Double Cut in the air really adds something to his game. We all knew that Double Cut was that one attack in the first one that no one saw coming. Well now he has one in the air. It's a little slower, but still faster than Slashing Blow. Also, using this after rising into the air from a Climhazzard is always fun. Oh yeah. It's been awhile since I've tried, but I don't think the Climhazzard + Dodge Cancel + Slashing Blow + Omnislash v.5 combo doesn't work anymore. As for his new Meteorain in the air, it's nice because it adds some aerial game to Cloud's weak air play, but it's kinda weak because it doesn't have the great tracking that the ground version has and is really only effective if the enemy is below you, isn't moving that much, and is at a certain range.

Where Cloud really excels in 012 is utilizing Assists. In the first one, we all know that if someone was playing as Cloud, they were going to either Finishing Touch you or Omnislash you. Well in 012 it's really easy to do because you can get your assist to setup for the attack and move in for the kill. And what's more, even if your opponent tries to escape the attack with their own assist, Cloud's Finishing Touch will just rise up into the air and catch them, or his Omnislash will just pursue them and finish doing what it does.

So really, still not much on his own, but with the right assist system, he's pretty scary.

*doing Cecil next*

*doing Cecil next*So scandalous!

Sei
January 27th, 2012, 04:42 PM
Cecil... I don't really have much to say on because he pretty much stayed the same. Dark Knight is still a lot more useful than Paladin (not to mention more fun) and his punishment game is still where he excels at. The Searchlight to Paladin Force combo is still there and his epic stomps seem to have a bit more recovery lag on them now or something (been awhile since I played to first).

The real attraction of Cecil in 012 is his new HP attacks, Shadow Bringer and Luminous Shard. Both of them are really useful, Luminous Shard being the better one in terms of use imo, but Shadow Bringer is just soooo fun to use. It just sucks that you can have both equipped at once.

So yeah, not much to Cecil really. :/

Chaos Greyblood
January 27th, 2012, 04:46 PM
I found that some people using Cecil develop the strategies on being able to swtich on the fly in order to emcompass the battlefield better when using him. Normally on the first game, Dark Knight mode was for ground battles and Paladin Mode is for the air and so they can bait-and-switch or play mind games by having just the right skills. I don't know if this part has changed for the better, but if it did, it's gonna help him a lot.

Now them, you mentioned Bartz so he's going in there. Also, Firion.

MasterSeth
January 27th, 2012, 04:54 PM
To get back into the Duodecim mood Imma gonna kick lvl 100 Feral Chaos's ass as all my favorite characters~~~

Sei
January 27th, 2012, 04:55 PM
It's just the Cecil really isn't good for mindgames. It's the fact that his classes have specialized roles that make him a pretty forward and specialized character. I'm not saying he's a bad character or anything, there's a reason nothing was really done to him, it's just that nothing was really done to make him better in a game where pretty much everyone was. Paladin is pretty useless on the ground unless you take advantage of his dash ins. But even then they're so easy to avoid because of the start up it's not even funnny. So yeah, if you can switch on the fly properly, I can see Cecil controlling the field with Omni Air Dashes, Dark Cannons, and Searchlights. But really, because Cecil relies so much on certain attacks to work, it's easy to get an idea of the player's strategy.

Anyway.

I'm gonna need my 012 back before I can go on a proper rant about Bartz. So that one will have to wait.

Firion...okay. Gimme a moment.

Firion was hurt sooooooo much by the nerfing of his Rope Knife! I can not stress this enough. In the first one, you could basically just win entire matches with this, Double Trouble, and Shield Bash. I mean, it attacked through walls, it destroyed guards, and it had good range and tracking. But that kinda a personal vent.

*ahem*

That being said, I do like what they did with Firion for the most part. First of, Lord of Arms is awesome. It's fast (something Firion needs) and has good distance. Plus it just looks and sounds cool. His magic attacks got better, improving his mix-up game and playing into pressure a bit too. For the most part, I like to stick with Fire because it has good tracking. Just toss out a couple of those (more than likely your opponent will block one or two of them) and counter it when it comes back to you with Shield Bash.

Thank god they did something about Straightarrow. It's faster and it can't be deflected by a normal block anymore. This makes it usable! :D

Even still, Firion is a ground fighter and I think they added more emphasis on this in 012. His sword attack in the air knocks people down now (instead of being just a really fast attack in the air) and I'm pretty sure you can change up Firion's combo with the analog stick kinda like with Jecht. And speaking of Jecht, he makes a good assist for Firion alongside Gabranth and Shantotto.

What else?

Oh. Again. Another character that was hurt by the crippling of EX mode. It's still useful, just not as useful as it was in the first one due to damage reduction. But then again, that just makes Firion more balanced.

Aside from that, not much else has changed.

Chaos Greyblood
January 27th, 2012, 05:12 PM
Yeah, Straight Arrow had homing ability, but it was hampered by how slow it was. It was used mostly like some kind of shotgun crossed with a bow in order for it to be useful.

Now for a change, how about Yuna?

Sei
January 27th, 2012, 05:25 PM
Now for a change, how about Yuna?

Yuna is actually pretty evil.

She has a small moveset, but the moves that she does have are just so good that they just about make up for it. She's really simplistic for a mage character, but still has that feeling of overwhelming power in the hands of a competent player. She has attacks that cover all ranges, are executed relatively fast, and really none of her attacks are useless.

Her HP Attacks are what really make her amazing. All of them are pretty fast and all of them are annoying to deal with. Energy Ray has that ridiculous range, Thor Hammer punishes aerial enemies that dodge too soon, Hellfire has that surprise element to it, Diamond Dust has virtually no start up, and we all know Megaflare is just plain evil.

What's more, the fact that she has such a small move set makes it really easy to know what she can and what you want her to do. Let's face it, Yuna has some nice combo potential for a mage. Heavenly Strike into and instant Diamond Dust and Sonic Wings and what not. This can also work against her sometimes though because you learn all of her moves quicker and know what to look for. But with their speed, that less of a problem.

Her EX mode is pretty useful too, changing up her BRV attacks and adding a bit of mix up.

But, if there's one thing I've noticed, it's that Yuna is practically helpless against characters that can be more aggressive than her. She just kinda falls apart. In the end, she's still a mage and needs that distance to maintain effectiveness.

If you want to make up for her shortcomings, I recommend an assist which will kinda preoccupy the enemy.

MasterSeth
January 27th, 2012, 05:30 PM
I never use assists, they are just pretty useless imo :p

And Yuna's kinda ehhhh, like I can use her pretty good, but I don't enjoy using her :/

Squall is about the same, I think maybe even more broken, and they made Golbez just unfair at this point imo. I mean, he's like the single character I can't stand to fight cause my friend is a spamming whore with him :/

In other words, she needs people like Laguna and Lightning as assists.

Speaking of that, how about those two? And Squall?

I can safely say now that I love you Sei. If you were but a good 6+ years older, well...MAI WAIFU.

Terra actually works better than the two in my opinion. You want something that's lingering and threatening. Like Terra's gravity and Gabranth's combo. And if you have her, Aerith.

Moving on.

Gabranth, Golbez, Squall, Laguna, and Lightning huh? Okay. Gimme a sec.

Gabranth
If you look at it in black & white, Gabranth got buffed hard. But, when you really look at it, he's just crippled so much by the game's mechanics that it's not fair considering he was one of the best characters in the first one. The assist system really hurts Gabranth. Normal attacks from assists deplete the EX gauge outright. This isn't too much of a problem, since EX charging on the ground got a speed boost, it's when he goes into EX mode. Getting hit by an assist while in EX mode cancels out EX mode. Meaning you have to go back to being plain Gabranth and starting over again.

This is really troublesome when fighting rushing characters, constantly dodging an onslaught of attacks, and just plain dealing with vanilla Gabranth slow movement and lack of combat potential. Likely, you'll want to keep your distance between you and your enemy until you can build up EX and pray that your enemy doesn't hit you with an assist, hit you and follow up with an assist, or just stall out you EX in general.

The epic EX duration up items like Golden Hourglass and the like (that where pretty much essential for Gabranth in the first game) reduce the amount of damage that you do while in EX mode now. Stack this on top of the already reduced damage in the game over all and you get a sad story for Gabranth. Basically, his reliance on EX makes his days of glory a far cry. Now you could easily make an EX Revenge build with him, but he has no way of dealing HP damage in vanilla form and if I'm not mistaken EX Revenge build items reduce EX duration time.

That aside though, he's still pretty intimidating once he actually does pull of EX mode. His attacks got quicker, some hit more now, and I think a few have an increased absorb effect. They nerfed the awesome Guilt attack (it's called something else now by the way) in that if the first attack misses, the soul rending explosion doesn't happen. This kind of takes away from his dodge punishment. But other than that, he's still Gabranth.

Like I said, he got buffed. The new system just goes against him in its entirety.

And oh yeah, without EX Duration extensions, better avoid those larger stages.

Golbez
Golbez is still the combo fiend of the game. Furthermore he got even better. Cosmic Ray executes faster, his new attack Sector Ray is just evil, and Gravity Force can crush guards now. Oh. And don't forget about the Assist System. If you thought you could pull off some awesome combos before, try tossing in some attacks from other characters and creating even more possibilities for Golbez. If you're any good with Golbez, you'll realize that he (probably) has the most combo potential in the entire game.

As I mentioned before, Sector Ray is a new attack. And basically what it does is what Golbez does best. Make the enemy say "Oh fuck". This thing is so damn hard to avoid if you're doing anything important. Hell, it can be pretty hard to avoid even if you aren't doing anything. It kinda sets up a cage around your opponent and gives them but so many options to get out of it.

And another thing that is fun with Golbez is his jump. He teleports. Slap on some jump boosts and you have what is a essentially a dodge which places you above the enemy and sets them up for the classic BRV to HP attack. But on that note, do remember that while Golbez is pretty intimidating, he can easily be punished, especially in the air. So be wary of incoming assists and stray projectiles while playing as Golbez.

Also, he doesn't seem to like aggressive mages that much. This is mostly due to his lack of range and proper means of punishing them. Remember, the last thing an aggression-oriented character wants is someone who is better at being aggressive, or is just plain good at attrition.

Squall
Let this be said. I like Squall. I like playing as Squall. Squall is one of my favorite characters. So trust me when I tell you that he received some welcomed changes and some not so welcomed ones. A couple of his attacks got better at doing what they do and a number of them got worse. So if you play as Squall, you know that he excels at rushing and pressuring the opponent. These changes have an effect on that.

So I'll start off with a bad. Heel Crush. One of his better moves from the first game was made worse by the fact that you can no longer dodge out of it. This means that should you use it on an enemy that is guarding, you'll break their guard, but you'll be left dangling in the air for the horrific recovery afterwards. And in my experience in competitive play, this is very punishable.

On the other hand, Squall's Thunder Barret became a major asset on the ground. Basically, you can pop one out, draw in the enemy, and immediately go into a combo or a HP Attack. If you choose to use and HP attack in this instance, I recommend Fated Circle due to its increased absorb effect. If you're like me, you didn't even know the attack had an absorb effect in the first game. Well in this one, it's very noticeable.

The range on Solid Barrel was reduced, which is sort of a bummer considering the range on it was already kinda bad; however, it's Squall and getting in really close isn't a foreign concept to his players. Blasting Zone now turns towards the enemy during start-up, so it's not as easy to dodge anymore. Fullisade, I think has more range now and the thunder attack at the end of it crushes guards. Mystic Flurry isn't as focused as it used to be, which is both a good and a bad thing. Good in that it helps corner enemies and bad in that it makes it nearly impossible to incorporate into combos anymore. And oh yeah, I think Beat Fang has less range now too. Again, easily overlooked once you get used to it.

As I've said with just about everyone before hand, I recommend using assists with Squall. Squall's BRV attacks are all pretty fast, but his HP attacks have start-ups which give them away. So overwhelm the enemy with Squall's BRV attacks and set up for an assist which can create an opening for your HP attack. For example, Gabranth's ground combo or Kuja's ground BRV which initiates a chase for an Aerial Circle.

Also, Squall is probably one of the few people I would say isn't hurt by EX Duration ups in this game. Since he hits some many times normally, and the number of those attacks is doubled, having damage reduced is not such a big deal.

Laguna
I love him as a character. I use him as an assist. I don't use him as a character.

Laguna...he could have been really cool if he just wasn't so easy to destroy. As a plus, he has a lot of neat little things to play with. The Homing Bazooka and Sticky Bombs are always fun. But really, if you're not literally dashing through his attacks, then you're probably running around them. Just about everything Laguna throws at you can be easily avoided and will generally put Laguna in a bad spot. This is made worse by the fact that while he has some fun stuff, almost all of his attacks are useless. Homing Bazooka and Pummel are necessary if you want to play as him. His richocheing shot is also welcome. But really, Laguna is damn near unusable. At least in my opinion.

Best used as an assist simply because machine gun is annoying.

On the bright side, he has the best death cry in the game. :D

Lightning
Lightning is a really interesting character to play as. She's a complete warrior and a complete mage, with a BRV building mechanic to boot. Her gimmick might take some getting used to in order to use her effectively, but once you get the hang of it, she's well worth it.

To start off, lets examine her three roles: Commando, Ravager, and Medic. Commando is her warrior role in which she uses her gunblade to attack physically. And what great attacks she has. Blitz is a charging attack which runs through and staggers the enemy's guard followed with a gun shot to the back. Unguarded, Blitz hit multiple times before the gunshot sends them flying. So it's cool in that respect. But where it really shines is that even if the first attack is blocked, the gunshot can still hit your staggered opponent in style. Furthermore, Lightning has one of those coveted HP to BRV attacks, Flourish of Steel, which makes dealing HP damage easy, especially since it links from her standard combo, Launch. And did I mention she has good speed?

Her Ravenger role is her mage role. It has a bunch of nice little tricks which combines pressure mechanics with Lightning's speed. Her Watera basically creates a giant bubble which will slowly track the opponent across the stage and is great for mind games. It can be guarded, but doing so will stagger your opponent, leaving them open to an attack. Another fun attack is Blizzara which creates a giant mass of ice which sucks in the enemy before launching them into the air. This is really fun to use when you enemy is busy trying to avoid you and Watera. But the real fun attack here is Army of One. The most badass looking BRV attack in the game (next to Jecht's combos of course). And as a plus, it generates extra EX Force which leads into something I'll discuss later.

Medic is more of a gimmick role than anything else. Personally, I don't use it, but it is free BRV. I've seen it become especially effective when coupled alongside stuff like Snooze and Lose.

With all that said though, I highly recommend only using two of the roles Lightning has at any given time. If you don't equip any skills for a certain role, then that role is skips in battle when switching paradigms. This is really helpful in that it helps you maintain pressure and speed in your game.

Her HP attacks are really good as well. They all have great range and/or coverage and are great for punishing enemies that dodge too soon. And really, if you think about it, this really makes Lightning one of the hardest characters to actually defend against. The major downside though is that they all have a noticeable start-up time similar to Squall's attacks.

And now, to make Lightning even better, she has what is probably one of the best EX modes in the game. Her EX mode makes her immune to wall rush. So not only does this make her immune to that additional damage, but it also makes her immune to a bunch of combos in the game that leave the player defenseless. And to make things worse, her EX mode automatically causes a Bravery Break if your opponent is simply near it. I forget the percent, but you get the picture.

All in all, Lightning is a solid character. She's fun to play as and fun to fight against. Her only real weakness I would say is predictability. But even still, Lightning can bring the pressure.

Jecht
Jecht hasn't changed much.

There's no reason to change him.

He's still a manly tank fueled running on nightmare fuel. His attacks charge faster now. So basically he can destroy you faster. And he has a new attack, Jecht Beam, which can be comboed into any attack which used Jecht Blade. And as always, Jecht Block laughs at virtually everything. A subtle, manly shrug.

Widely used as an assist.

Jecht is just as terrifying as he was in the first one. And we all remember that. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukYivcN9Gq4)

Lightning is Lightning. I never had a problem with her voice because I think it fits her perfectly. A bunch of people on the other hand constantly complain that Lightning needed to sound sexier. Lighting is a tough character. Not someone to be sexed up.

Vaan's voice fits him. Easy going with that feeling of being young. I don't really care for his voice during some of his attacks, but in terms of dialogue, he's cool.

Yuna is still Yuna. Laguna is the mature comic relief. And Tifa still has her Advent Children voice.

My bank is also super secure... I have a password, and then I use a special hand-held encryption device where I input a pin number, and a one-off password is generated which acts as a second password.

Hmmm.... Alright then.

What do you have to say about Tidus and Onion Knight?

Sei
January 27th, 2012, 11:27 PM
Tidus
Tidus is more fun to use if you're a patient player. Personally, I don't like using him competitively but he's still a pretty good character. He follows the hit-and-run tactic and really needs to stick to that to bring out his full potential. And in the transition between the first game and 012, not much was done to him to add some variety to his tactics.

To start off, Tidus has one of the most infamous attacks in the game: Hop Step. This little gem is damn near instantaneous and hurts too. And if I'm not mistaken, it got better by having its range increased. Best of all, he has a ground version and aerial version of this attack. It's a staple move. And when you stack this on top of the fact that his moveset incorporates a lot of dodges which go into HP attacks, Tidus becomes almost as good at mindgames as Exdeath.

One thing I'll say that hurts Tidus a bit is the fact he lost his ground version of Wither Shot. For me, this was his equivalent of Cloud's Fire and it helped to close in distances. So now, what this means is if you're not backing Sphere Shot, you'll always have to close in to do any real damage. However, if you equip something besides Sphere Shot, you'll also be creating a hole on his offense. For example, if you equip a dodge you'll be thinning out Tidus's options because more than likely you'll be waiting for your opponent to attack you (and you better hope it's a close-ranged attack). And if it's an attack, you pretty much won't be taking advantage of Tidus's bread and butter attacks.

Furthermore, even though Tidus relies on his dodges, you really need to use the right one for the right attack. Using the wrong dodge can end horribly, but with you only being able to equip but so many attacks, no matter what you do, Tidus will just about always have some shortcoming in his moveset.

EX Mode is still fun. Just not as useful anymore.

Also, being that he's basically a counterattacker, he hates fighting against defensive opponents like say Exdeath.

Onion Knight
Onion Knight was already pretty cheap in the first game and they just made him even better in this one. I'll start off by saying this (cause I'm not sure how many people really realize it), but if you equip Onion Knight with Speed Boost ++, you can literally run circles around your enemy. When I use Onion Knight, I hardly ever need to use dashes and I hardly even have to think about dodging. You can really just run up to your opponent, sneak up behind them, and wail on them. Combine this with Sneak Attack and Counterattack and you can create some really unfair Crit Strings.

His already fast moves execute faster now and like one or two got improved range for that matter. Blade Torrent is usable now and Wind Shear and Comet got even harder to deal with. And lets not forget the many BRV to HP attacks he has. Those always help. On top of this all, he got two new brave attacks which boost either his magic or his strength. I forget whether they stack or not, but you get the idea. Onion Knight lives up to his name.

The only weak point I see with him is that his attacks are pretty linear. But really, if you're running circles around your enemy, does that matter?

Onion Knight loves larger stages.

Already did Jecht, guy. And calling him a god is an insult to his manliness.

I don't really use Ultimecia or Matheus (will probably have to ask Feli about them) so I can't really tell you that much.

Ultimecia's new Knight Lance attack seems to take everyone off-guard and she's still annoying as all hell to move in on. Regardless, her HP attacks still don't seem very practical to me and there's not really much she can do once you get close to her.

Matheus is still excellent at trapping and getting into the opponent's head. His Light Crest attacks changed, with the ground one shooting upwards and the aerial one shooting forward. Flare's are still annoying and his new Dreary Cell can be pretty aggravating from what I recall. The real change with him is freaking Starfall. It has the epic magic guard during casting now, so if you're at a distance, charge it up. A common saying during the days of the first game was that you never let him get off Starfall.

Go here for Jecht. (http://forums.nrvnqsr.com/showthread.php/3-Random-Thoughts-Thread?p=588172&viewfull=1#post588172)

Exdeath
Exdeath is hands down the king of mind games! And I'm not just saying this because Feli kicked my ass with him. A good Exdeath player is annoying. A competent Exdeath player is fucking untouchable! And the possibilities extend way beyond just his moveset. Equipment, Summons, Accessories, all of them add up to the anal cluster fuck that is Exdeath.

Should probably stop swearing.

*ahem*

Probably the biggest addition to Exdeath's arsenal is Malestrom. This is basically all of what Exdeath was missing in the first game: something that forces you to attack him. It has a long charge up time, but it can hit the enemy from anywhere and it hurts. The long casting time basically forces your opponent to close that distance and attack you in an attempt to stay off the hurt. Oh, but guess what. Exdeath can cancel his HP attacks with blocks. And you know what that means.

His counters also got better. And by better, I mean mostly faster. In addition, a number of his attacks like Black Hole and Grand Cross have increased absorb effects now, which makes them more annoying to deal with. He has this move now called Turn Guard which is basically a guard that lets him turn around while doing it. Pretty handy considering his movement speed.

Exdeath really benefits from stuff that cripples the opponent. This is all a part of how he gets in your head. He's a tree. And trees don't have to move. The same goes for Exdeath. Equipping him with abilities like Snooze and Lose and Concentration can really put the pressure on the opponent. Because not only will their BRV go down, but yours will just continue to go up. And with a move like Malestrom, that's really not something you want to keep going. Exdeath is also pretty competent with EX Revenge builds.

And if you're feeling really confident in your Exdeath, take advantage of that slow approach he has. Scare your enemy a little.

And if you really, really want to mess with someone, give him Aerith as an assist. The two go together like peanut butter and chocolate.

Zidane
Zidane is yet another character close to my heart. He is a gimmicky character who excels at aerial combat, and boy does it show. In 012 it's a lot easier to get enemies into the air now because of Zidane's new attack Booster 8. This is a pretty fast charging attack which hits multiple times and can immediately be followed up by an aerial attack. What's more, this new attack of his has the added bonus of staggering an enemy's guard without having any affect on Zidane at all.

He doesn't have his Swift Attack on the ground anymore, which is kinda bad because it was quick and led into a nice Meo Twister. But really, Booster 8 more than makes up for this. And while we're on the subject, Meo Twister doesn't generate EX Force anymore. Just so ya know.

Anyways, any Zidane player worth their weight will have no problem keeping the combat in the air. And boy...Zidane loves ceilings! If you're playing as Zidane and your opponent hits the ceiling, jump for joy. With his fast attacks and good aerial coverage, Zidane will be attacking your enemy before they even get off the wall. So if your opponent hits the top ceiling, you can practically Storm Impulse them to death. And did I mention that Grand Lethal got better? If you're close to your opponent in the air and you pop out one of these, even if they dodge, chances are you're going to hit them.

Now, I will say that Zidane lost his awesome Turn-Cancel combo that made a lot of people hate Zidane players. But, Zidane is the only character that can recover jumps after dodging now through the use of his EX mode. This makes the fact that he can interrupt his attacks to optimize damage even more deadly.

Free Energy had its range reduced (which makes it pretty awkward to hit with now) and it can be blocked. But this is somewhat remedied with the fact that his Tidal Flame got better. It's slower now, but it tracks better, bounces off walls, lasts longer, and it crushes guards. Which means the days of having it deflected are over.

Scoop Art is faster now, which is his equivalent to Cloud's Fire. Always nice for light mind games. And Solution 9 actually hits the enemy more if I'm not mistaken. It's good for poking and interrupting the enemy.

Zidane also has good synergy with a lot of other characters as assists. Some examples are Cecil, Sephiroth, Kain, Yuna, and Kuja. Also, if you plan on using him, I recommend trying out some BRV boost on dodge accessories. And remember, he loves stages with low ceilings.

Final one for the night if you're around: Kain!

I'll have to do Kain at some other time. Kinda tired.

And to add on to Zidane, if you miss with Booster 8, you can easily dodge out of it and position yourself above your enemy. Follow up with Tempest.

I saw this official JP scans that the Gokaigers are teaming up with Zangyack and Kamen Riders to Shockers with Tsukasa as the leader. Just containing my anger over this badly made team-up, there's Gokaiger vs. Gavan to soothe it up anyway. :S

The fight was over, the day was done. The raven-haired girl and the auburn haired boy lay side by side exhausted but restless. Even though their lives had deviated far from what they might have been, neither regretted their decisions, there was nothing but hope for the future.

But a tiger lurked in the garden. Proud and noble, with flashing yellow eyes it stalked its prey. Her every movement calm and calculated, without warning it leapt forwards, and again it was repelled by some unseen force.

With a roar of frustration she again continued her pacing, this time with a noticeable anger matching her gait. What intelligence that had remained had vanished now, there was nothing but a savage beast with a single-minded urge towards necessity.

The raven-haired girl and auburn haired boy didn’t even notice, they were too tired from the day now gone. The trials they faced together, the trials they would face together, those thoughts pushed far from their minds. For now there was nothing but the peace and comfort of each others company.

And for a time it was good.

“Fujimura-sensei, remember that time we locked you outside and didn’t notice for hours?” Emiya Shirou laughed as he rubbed a hand through his auburn hair. The girl beside him smiled brightly but didn’t say anything as she silently listened.

“And then you tried knocking on every door but they were all locked” Tohsaka Rin continued the story also laughing, her raven-hair dancing in the light as her head bobbed.

“Or how we ate everything and there was nothing left!” the blonde haired girl piped in, quietly.

The room went dead silent for a moment, all eyes turned to the unabashed girl who with her mouth full and eyes closed hadn’t noticed a thing.

“CCCCCKRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”

A horrible sound, like the sound of a dying animal after a night of the darkest terrors imaginable, there was a flash of light and then the sound of clashing steel. Evidently she had not forgotten the night in question, the atmosphere broke into open hostility.

There was a tiger and a dragon fighting on the dinner table.

“THAT WAS NOT FUNNY”

Her scream was cut short as she slipped from the table, there was a sickening crack as her head struck the floor and she lay there unmoving.

She would awake hours later, cold and alone and in wonder of why her head was so sore.

I am really terrible at characterization I think...

Its odd how life works.
Most of my family live in Kuwait, in the middle east.
One of my aunts is suffering from an aggressive form of Blood Cancer... and is currently experiencing multiple organ failure.
She is in need of blood donors, however most of her family has an incompatible blood type.

Apart from me... the only family member with compatible blood type, but lives thousands of miles away.

I got my blood-type from my dad.
So despite my parents being divorced I called him, and him along with his brothers and sisters (they all have the same blood type as me) who live there are all donating their blood to my mums sister.

The original plan was for her to come to London for specialist private treatment at a hospital here...

I found out I can't legally give blood in Kuwait without holding a residency permit or citizenship of Kuwait...
Ridiculous, right.

And Kuwaiti hospitals don't have the facilities to perform the specialist treatment she needs...
However, the Royal Marsden hospital here is one of the few in the world that does...

Its like a terrible sense of helplessness... My mother is already frantically trying to get a last minute flight at great expense....
