View Full Version : Anyone else you know IRL that's into TM?

Or at least, who else knows about some of their franchises that you know IRL. I got an acquaintence who watches Fate/Zero and is a Lancer fanboy but also thinks Saber sucks and is the most boring character of the show. That's just about it for me really. How about you guys?

I got a family member to watch part way through FZ,but then I realized how absolutely boring FZ can be for people who just want juicy action like Naruto so I stopped forcing it down his throat.

I don't think he enjoyed it much. He loved Berserk though.

I meet a lot of people at my uni's anime club and already have friends that are interested enough in Japan that they've lived there or plan to study there. I got two of them to read the FSN visual novel, which sent them over the edge, while three more already had FSN or Tsuki under their belt by the time I met them.

@Reui Well, Naruto is the gateway anime. It's how I got started. Sort of.

@Arashi Well see. There's my problem. I went to an anime club once hoping to look for people who just happened to like anime. What I got were these anime fanatics with golden-colored eye contacts and multi-colored hair that spoke like weeaboos. I was so mortified just standing next to them in public that I swore off anime clubs in general.

The worst part is that they were all very bad at dressing themselves. D:

We have a couple of people like that in our club too, but my school has a fairly good reputation for sending students to Japan, so we have a lot of people that are well-adjusted and serious-minded about Japanese but happen to like anime. Too, part of our goal with the club is to present students with stuff they might not otherwise watch or that have some level of cultural appeal.

It also helps that right now I'm sort of in charge of the club, so I can tell people to gtfo if they're being disruptive.

@Arashi Awesome. I'm proud of you. I only lasted one day. Can I have an example of what you guys watch?

The one who got me into Type-Moon.

By showing me a selection of the most dull and boring anime I have ever seen.

Sadly, not a single TM fan. I've got a friend who knows what FSN is and its premise, but didn't watch it. Also, another group of friends who watch anime, they watched FSN and FZ but sadly they're all Narutards and Bleachtards. I got one of them into MB, explained to them all what a Visual Novel is, dropped the bomb that FSN is an eroge (it was awesome).

I also tried to get one of them to watch KnK. He said he liked Ryougi's design when he saw her in MB, but sadly he didn't watch it.

Most of the decently powerleveled otaku in my country have a general idea, if they are a part of the doujin/VNs/2hu/jp/ crowd then they have definitely read a novel or five.
I know a few loud people who consider themselves hardcore TM fans and made some really bad subs for KnK, others in the country who are vocal about it are usually animu fanboys who force their girlfriends to cosplay Saber all the time, so they can wear the Shirou white+blue combo and look like the most repulsive nerds around. Actually, now that I think of it, there's always a cardboard Fate cosplay group at every Czech con. They might have been wearing the same frustratingly lame painted pieces of cardboard for four years or so, memory doesn't serve too well.

Oh, and there's Napůl who is really vocal too, usually not actually saying anything at all but being really loud about it - too bad I have never met him in person, though I seem to have come dangerously close.

KnK is one of the things I shove into people's faces when they start asking me about what animu they should watch, so a lot of my animu casual friends have seen it I guess. Most serious fightan vidya gaymen are well aware of Meltan, too.

In general I am ashamed to admit I am the person people go to in this country for TM stuff and as I am not really knowledgable, so isn't anyone else as a result.
I also have made a few lectures on cons about Type Moon. People seemed to really like them, but I am aware how unforgivable it is in here.
I've also cosplayed Roa a few years ago. Can't do it anymore, neckbeard too visible even shaved, gay italian pianist look lost

I then proceeded to crash said car into a water hydrant near the back of the school and ditch it. I only broke one of the lights so I did not see what the big deal was. The front-to-left headlight if I remember correctly. Afterwards, nada.

A couple people, others watched some TM related stuff when we showed it at club, but that was about it. And the two I introduced to the fandom only got as as deep as playing Melty obsessively for awhile, one was a Kohaku/Hisui fan and the other liked Arc.

Though both collect TM related art, and one of the two read some of the Tsukihime manga. Casual for TM, but I guess you can say they are somewhat hardcore into anime, since we have gone to Otakon together twice.
