Broken Filament: Dead End [Remastered]
"Warning: A dead body has been found within the school premises. Authorities believe this may be connected to an ongoing KIRA case. Doors have been locked until the police arrive."
Premise
You are different from the rest.
You have been told this many times in the past, be it by your parents or by your own conscience. Perhaps it's the reason why you've been isolated from the rest of the world. Maybe it's just the excuse someone else used to send you to this remote island located in the middle of nowhere. In the end, it doesn't matter: You'll be starting a new life here, at the Genesis Reformatory, as part of a social experiment. The goal? To bring the future, you, back to the right path.
At first, life at Genesis Reformatory doesn't seem to be too far off from normal school life. The place is huge, offering way more than you'd have ever asked, the dormitories are located inside the main building and there are far less students that you'd have hoped for, but with time you stop paying attention to those details. There is just one thing that will never fail to unnerve you: The cameras placed strategically around the building, following your every move...
A month goes by, and you can finally say that you are starting to like your life at Genesis Reformatory. It's just equipped with everything you've ever needed, and if there is something still missing, you can make a request and maybe get it. The only thing you are asked in exchange is to occasionally talk to other students and do your homework. You don't even have to study for exams because they ask you not to. For once, you feel at home.
Then, one day, something terrible happens.
On your way to your afternoon classes, you hear an omnious announcement. Someone has been killed and the school has been locked down! It seems like the police is on its way, but you are sure that will take a while. It takes you a second to reach the obvious conclusion: It's just you, a few teachers and a bunch of troublesome students... And one of you is KIRA.
Mechanics
My role as a GM will be limited to correcting and approving profiles, and posting things of interest (whether you find an item and which, if there is something noteworthy in the room, school announcements, etc). I'll have my own character and take part like a normal player would. There shall be no NPC to interact with.
The game will last 6 IC hours, from 6 PM to 12 PM. During that time, you will have to either survive or kill, depending on the role that's randomly assigned to you. There will be more roles this time around to spice things up while keeping it simple, but make sure to make a character that is flexible to any role so you can make any changes to your profile ASAP so the game can start. When the clock hits 12, the police will arrive at the scene and the game will end.
The basic roles will be that of the Normal Student, whose goal is to survive or kill the culprit; and KIRA, a murderer inspired in the Death Note Manga, who kills by writing the names of their victims in their notebook. As of the start of the RP, the Kira killings have widespread through the media and most are aware of their existence. However, nobody knows KIRA's identity or how he kills people, just that his victims usually commit suicide or die by heart-attacks. KIRA's ultimate goal is to get rid of as many other players as possible without being discovered. Kira does not get a Shinigami and cannot get Shinigami Eyes.
Your character is someone who messed up in the past, or has a reason to be in this reformatory. For privacy reasons, each of the teachers and students has been given an alias which they use daily instead of their real names. This makes Kira's job of finding their name a little bit harder, because otherwise it'd be too easy. Your alias must be something that would be acceptable by school standars, so whatever name or nickname you pick cannot be offensive, racist, etc.
Due to the nature of the game, the PVP is real and the lethality is high. Hurting someone will be as easy as it is in real life, so it is required that, even if you have a few screws lose, you don't start attacking other people just because they're suspicious. If you have a role that requires you kill others, you want to be cautious and do it at the right time so you don't get caught. If you have a role that tells you that you must survive, you need to gather enough evidence before you conclude that someone the killer. Finding someone covered in blood is a reason to question them, not to beat them up to death.
Once more, the RP is player driven. This means it is up to you to keep it alive. Don't join if you are not going to post. At the same time, wait for people who cannot post frequently overnight.
Character Creation
Personal Data
Full Name: Your real name.
Alias: The nickname you use in the reformatory. For privacy issues, everyone calls you by your alias.
Gender: Don't try to fool me.
Age: For women as well.
Bio: Everything you'd like to say about your character. Personality, backstory, strengths and weaknesses.
Equipment
•School Bag: The equipment you start with. I might give you additional stuff depending on who your character is.
•Your Room: If you have anything noteworthy there, be sure to mention it. Otherwise it'll be generic.
•PDA: Works as phone and has various options, like map, etc. Can only contact other PDAs. Come up with an 8 digit number starting with 4.
Gift
The one thing that makes you somewhat different from the rest. It can be a skill, like being good at hiding, a position of power, like being a teacher, or an item of note which you wouldn't normally be able to carry in your school bag, like a key to certain room. Whatever you pick it must make sense within the small setting you are thrown into (A student wouldn't be able to sneak a gun into this place), and that while it grants an advantage, it won't be to an extent that it breaks the game. Your gift must also align with who your character is and his or her past experiences.
Roles might grant you additional gifts related to them.
The Map

Totally didn't rip this off a popular game. Thanks. You can zoom it, right? Just replace 'Elevator to Trial Room' with 'Stairs to Basement'. Some doors are locked. The rooms with faces on it are your own rooms.
Here is a list of locations of interest:
- Headmaster's office: It has a computer inside which holds all the data regarding students and faculty members, including their real names. As of the start of the game, it has been sealed by the school's security system. There might be other ways to get in here, though...
- Basement: Also serves as storage for old stuff. You're likely to find a good makeshift weapon around here. The electricity controls are also located in the basement. You won't be able to shut off the electricity system, but you can turn off the lights in certain areas. Why you'd do that is beyond me.
- Data Procesing: All the data recorded by cameras is sent directly here. If you have a time period and a location, you can use them to get a recording. Take the recording to the A/V Room to play it and see what happened there at that time.
- Faculty Office: Where teachers meet. Most classroom keys are also kept here when the teachers are not carrying them.
Some of these notes contain OOC information. Work your brains on how to deduce them IC.
