I'm uncultured so I just read it in the voice of Elmer Fudd.
Is the GO age ( unlike when UBW aired ) and majority seeing the movie are already fans ( nobody would recommend HF as entry point to the franchise) , triyin to "shock" anyone is pointless, actually seeing her at the end was already more "shocking". So, i dont have issues with it myself
well, if someone is wacthing a HF adaptation as their entry point , i think they are makin a mistake , the rutes where in order in the VN for a reason
And i dont get the sarcarms about GO, Nasu himself saId most players didnt read the VN . I dont even have a GO account ( i just read about it so i will not loss all the lore bits) but i will not argue how massive the thing is.
Yup their mistake. People who watch One Piece movies, Gintama movies, Conan movies must be fans of those series. Same thing here
A lot of F/GO casuals (those who know about GO before the rest of Fate) know about Alter, yes. A lot of those casuals don't know that she's from Heaven's Feel, though. They completely spoiled the surprise.
What did they think she was from, Prisma?
It says FSN in her Source blurb in her fucking profile.
Wait, only Emiya says that? Weird.
i don't read the profiles of stuff i get from the gatcha
i read them when are datamined on kazemai because lol rolling golds
No what's shocking is the sudden reappearance of the character you came to love during the previous routes, during a critical moment of the narrative, but now twisted and on the enemy's side.
Showing her immediately after Saber's death completely and immediately ruins the impact of her being gone.

And a lot of casuals didn't know about her actually, my friends did because... Well, they care enough to read all the profiles in FGO, but I talked with people who were surprised by her appearance, some saw her in Prisma or First Order and just assumed the "dark servants" were only a thing there, while other just didn't see her in anything.
Maybe they can put them at the start of second movie? Yeah.... It's gonna work, considering her debut when Zouken attack Einzbern castle
I think it'd have gone better if they'd had Alter show up before Shirou called for her. Sandwiched in between her vs the Shadow & Hassan, and Shirou calling for her. Would've made a better impact if we'd had her running for the Grail, confronted with the dark, then Shirou tries to call for her, fails, and his CSs disappear.
Well, finally got home and got to open my BD.
I can see now why there was a lot of praise for the dynamic between Shinji, Shirou and Sakura. It was a massive focus of the first 45 minutes or so and it does a much better establishment for their relationship compared to even the VN in my opinion.
The action on a technical level was great, even though the truck fight in particular was cool to look at but it's basically a meme now since Truck Driver-kun is more dense than any harem protagonist.
I have a particular issue with the OST. There were only around three tracks that I liked. The rest I was very meh about. Honestly, whilst I enjoyed Kajiura's previous work this one didn't really do it for me when those particular tracks weren't on. I may be a minority here but I preferred Fukusawa Hideyuki a lot more.
