Don't get me wrong, fan translations are frequently better than officials. But paying for them invites trouble for both the translator, and the consumer.

Its illegal because the only reason they're able to translate a a copyrighted work is because they aren't profiting from the translation. And while it is possible to pay them subtly, any coordination...

Eggplant doesn't trust anyone to translate his works, thats why only 3rd party TM works are translated officially.

Yeah Commie was the first group to take a shot at translating it (I think), theres also 3-5 other people that have made large amounts of progress, but McJon is the only one who has actaully released...
