Oh yeah, I guess most of us assumed that the Ultimate Ones were just the sole survivors that killed everything.

Or at least me. It opens up a pretty interesting scenario of various alien life that could interact in Nasuverse besides Types. Different laws of nature creating different effects. I'm now imaging the setting of Land of Steel having the other planets' denizens celebrating since the Aristoteles are gone.

Given the behaviour of Gaia, the likelihood of the other planets' Types slaughtering all other creatures on them looks low. Intelligent life maybe, but not everything.

I'm also assuming the Types also have a prerogative to destroy any threats to their respective planet. But that would require said planets to have their own 'wills'. I don't know if Gaia is unique that way because it doesn't have a Type or something related to what I think is called Brain of the Planet? Or was that just an Archetype thing?

Oh yeah, Types are more or less de facto representatives of whatever planet so it probably doesn't matter.

When Medea hypnotises Shirou from a distance, she did it because her magical system can't be resisted by the usual method of just flushing out the foreign magical energy, right? I also remember her trapping Atram Gallasta (?) in a mental illusion in the anime. If so, could she also affect any other Master - say, someone like Kayneth, Kiritsugu or Rin - in the same manner?

(Of course their Servants, not requiring sleep, would presumably notice it a lot faster than Saber did.)

Second question: Medea pulled Shirou to her because she wanted to steal command of Saber and use her against Herakles. But could she have presumably just killed him from afar? Maybe by setting him on fire or something?

He wasn't hypnotized, his body was being controlled.

He couldn't resist because she finished the spell while he was asleep and flushing out magical energy doesn't work on a completed spell unless you're more powerful than the caster.

She notes that Shirou is about as resistant to that kind of things as a normal person, so presumably it wouldn't work on the others.

Cuz to steal Saber she needed to poink him with Rule Breaker. Which is melee range only.

They probably have some kind of defenses set up to prevent it but in the event the spell was completed on a better mage like Rin or Kayneth then my guess is that they would be just as weak as Shirou was, mostly due to the fact that they wouldn't be able to match the magical energy output required to beat the spellcaster.

"Yes. It's not our own objective but we do. They arrived here to fulfill the wish of this planet. ...This planet died by the influence of the life forms that lived on it. The planet itself doesn't have a feeling of grief. Even perishing by the influence of its own life forms is "All right". A planet only carries a will; it carries no meaning. "
But there was an exception. The planet is able to forgive it because the life forms follow the same fate as the planet. But the human species were able to live on, even on the dead land. This planet was frightened by the existence that kept on living on top of its death, and cried out for help at its end. Please, wipe out the life forms that are still alive."

"...I see. So that's who you guys were"

When I muttered that, the Angel said no, as she shook her head.

"The only ones who were able to hear the cry of the planet, were also planets. I, no, we were the highest ranking species of those planets who received the will of this planet. For example, The Aristoteles that was called the Heaven's Corpse... what I used to be, was the most superior individual on Venus."

    "Wha...t?'

Without knowing, I lost my breath. Our enemy were species that ruled over the alien branches of another planet, where our common sense doesn't apply. The strongest life form on a planet, was in other words, the planet itself. The human species who survived on this planet, to put it simple, were fighting 8 planets.
That's arguably Nasu's self insert into the convo but there's also

    アリストテレス [Ultimate ONE]
    Aristoteles
Life forms that came from the other planets.
They were the strongest life forms on their respective planets, and each of them had the power to wipe out all the remaining living beings in this world.
The name Aristoteles was given by the humans, and they have no such things in the first place. The Aristoteles don't fight each other, and they just freely fly around killing things.
Several Aristoteles among them contacted mankind learning about this planet's concept of "knowledge".
After Type-Saturn, who received orders from their respective planets and sent it to the others, got eliminated, they entered a final war with the human race.
So yeah, you can argue that TYPES are avatars of the planet or that they are creatures that perhaps wiped out everything on their planet. Or hell both, a planet that wiped out its inhabitants.

    - - - Updated - - -

But yeah, V/V says that the only ones who can here the call of another planet was another planet and she claims she was the one who received the call. Which is why I think they are the avatars.

Having the capacity doesn't necessarily mean they did though, unless that entry was loosely translated. (Regarding Types killing everything on their planet.)

What she actually says is that only a planet could receive the call of a planet, and that the Types were "the strongest life forms of those planets who received the will of (Gaia)". The planets received Gaia's will, not the Types.

Which fits fine with the entry saying that Type-Saturn received orders from Saturn the planet and transmitted it to the other Types.

Nowhere there does V/V says anything about being a planet, nor does the entry says it. Only the non-omniscient narrator does and it doesn't have to be literal due to context.

Yeah, I don't know why people insist on taking everything literally and acting like literary devices have no place in literary writing.
