Do Servants need to breathe? I recall Bryn getting choked by submersion in Paracelsus's water elemental, but you also have Mordred who knows how high up in a fighter jet without a helmet in Apoc.

Maybe something about the act of breathing helps in generating mana? Only thing I can think of is Saber's comment about Kuzuki's walking and breathing when Shirou took her on a tour of the school.

it applies.
It's because as form follows function, and Servants have taken humanoid forms, they need to "breathe" to circulate magical energy. It's like proteins with their structure function relationship.

Servants somewhat need to breath. I don't think they need it as much as humans, but if they don't breath their mana flow will eventually stop. At least that's what I got out of the Fragments translation.

About nasu stating 7 servants are needed to keep PM at bay,did he mean counter guardians or grands?i thought it was cg's at first but i heard(here on bl) it was grands.. So anyone knows wha he really said back then?

Usually it refers to the CGs, but GO mats also called Artoria that and ppl speculated that she might be Grand Saber. The Grand servants are also called "guardians of human order" or something iirc. The CGs we've seen so far (Emiya, Emiya Alter, Emiya Assassin), they are quite underwhelming compare to the Grands to fight the Beasts tho. I think Nasu is being vague here intentionally.

honestly i do think that the shugosha on the PM entry is the normal shugoshas
my (headcanon) theoryis like this
shugoshas are hs who fell out of worship
we know artoria isnt one because nasu's comment
now in mats artoria is a "special" type of shugosha
so my theory is that the shugosha talked about by nasu in the past is the normal shugosha, while seiba being "special" shugosha means grand which is different

The quote being about Grand Servants is just a theory people have been brewing since we found out that the servant summoning system is based on the Grand Servants.
