Did Mahoyo is readable without reading Tsukihime? Mainly, I want to know how Magecraft actually works and kinda confused where do I start. Also, the TL is only up to Chapter 7 right? Did reading until Chapter 7 explain the mechanism behind magecraft enough?
Fate doesn't really explain much about them except what they do, they kinda treat magecraft not important enough to be explained mechanically, except everything related to Holy Grail and Servants. (at least, that's how I see it)
I did read Tsukihime Manga, then straight jump to Hisui and Akiha route (kinda bad decision tbh) and I still confused af.

Actually, forget it, I planning to read it either way anyway.

Yes, Mahoyo is readable because it's happen before Tsukihime.
Aoko is learning Magecraft, so I think you'll have a better understanding of the rules.
And I think Fate/Stay Night is very informative on the matter, Rin and Shirou explain so much.
That sounds perfect. Thank you.
I honestly don't remember anything about Rin's info dump, gotta check it again then.

If I'm not mistaken, Astolfo's "incomplete release" of the anti-magic book gives him a functional Magic Resistance of Rank A, right? How exactly does Semiramis' spells affect him, then? Is it because of the Hanging Gardens? Are they that much superior to a regular Territory?
Speaking of Semiramis, some of her spells explicitly draw on Mesopotamian mythology, such as her shields being the scales of a divine fish and her summoning Tiamat's spawn. What of her beams, then? Do they have any mythological basis?
That's because Semi's spells with Hanging Gardens are EX Rank attacks. You need EX Rank Magic Resistance(like Jeannes) to not be harmed.

Her beams are just normal magic beams. I doubt you'll find anything about those In Mesopotamian myth

I don’t think you’ll find much basis for sword beam period
Caladbolg tho
Well, Medea's Rain of Light spell sort of has some mythological basis when we consider she's the granddaughter of Helios. Perhaps Semiramis' beams have something similar?
Is there TM material about Helena Blavatsky?

Thnks.
Is it true that she found modern magecraft and has some connection to the root?

She didn't create a foundation of magecraft no, he magic is a mixing pot of over a dozen different foundations to create her own Unique spells that sometimes explode.
As for the Root, it's unclear. Personally she feels that she is connected to it and can communicate and has the patronage of the mages that are believed to have ascended to it, which she calls Mahmata. The MA anyway believes that she has a weird mutation with her magic circuits (which she does) and thus believe she's talking nonsense. But whether that's true or not is unclear and ledt ambiguous.

Ooohh so she is almost like crazy scientist...
Is that why she has quarrel with MA?

She didn't found anything with modern magecraft. She built up a lot of basis for theosophy, which I guess is a modern form of magecraft? Anyway, she doesn't have a "connection" to the Root in the way that like Ryougi or Manaka do, she's just on a completely different route than the Clock Tower mages or such and is on a path few or no others are and incidentally might be a few steps ahead in comparison.
Localizationing stuff
Tldr she a genius.
For whats it worth, Waver said in Helena interlude that theosophy is strictly a study of magecraft and not supposed to be a magecraft in itself.
(Helena blew after that)
