Whats the difference for eating for sustenance to continue living and eating for sustenance to continue being immortal when you were born naturally as a god? i can buy gods needing ambrosia for that purpose, in fact It makes perfect sense when you mentioned it, because ambrosia literally is food of the gods. That's what the word means. Gods are naturally greater then humans, so god food thus to humans is something unimaginably precious for it giving immortality, but for the gods itself its there food, same way how we consider what we eat to be our food. But by the same token ambrosia is way more special, because it's food of the gods, thus any human attempting to eat or steal it is committing hubris and thus is dealt like that. Like what happened to Tantalus

Maybe a reference to how Hebe, the goddess who served the nectar and ambrosia*, was also the goddess of youth.

Yep yep, translation was abit wonky.

Olympians gods: Super long lifespan but they gonna get old without eating apples.
Gorgon twins: Super long lifespan + never get old.
So in a sense, apples does help extending their longetivity (by making them stop aging and get old) but not in the sense that they need those for their original super long lifespan.

actually thinking about it, that makes sense. I forgot that immortality and agelessness was two different concepts in greek myth wasn't it? in the myth of Eos, when she asked Zeus to make her lover immortal, he did so but as she didn't ask for ageless he kept on aging and aging despite never being able to die. Out of pity Eos then made him into a cicada. So yeah immortals will remain immortal, regardless of apples, but apples are necessary to not always look like an old hag.

Yeah I think Nasu going with the 不老不死 similar to the xian in Chinese myth for these Olympians. Xian gets 不老 by drinking pills of longetivity, while they get 不死 by eathing peaches of immortality which grants 3000 years of lifespan upon eaten. Then there also the man-fruits Wu Kong also got his hands on which can grant near 50k years of lifespan.

Meanwhile those with Ind Manifestation and Heaven's Feel obtained 真の不老不死 so they are eternal.
