I always interpreted it as Shirou searching until the end of his life, dying and then being transported to Avalon as it happened, somehow. Either way, who knows.

I mean, people accidentally stumbling into the world of the fairies is pretty common in folklore right? I'm pretty sure you can get into the Reverse Side like that too.

Also, does Garden of Avalon confirm or not that Saber after destroying the Grail voluntarily and breaking out of her contract went to Avalon, even in UBW?

Another question. Does Archer's overcoat that's supposed to protect him from external curses and the like ever get used for that purpose by anyone?

So whats the difference between Ether and True ether? What effect would the latter have on someone magecraft, say for example, the Tohsakas gemcraft?

    True Ether = weed
    Ether = synthetic weed

How does weed(True Ether) affect magecraft?

It doesn't affect the magecraft itself, just what the magus can do.
There's a scene in mahoyo when the Flat Snark is spewing out True Ether in the carnival and that lets Aoko use more powerful spells.

I believe what You is saying is that they're functionally the same thing, created differently. So same way as regular Ether (which iirc is used as a building block, like, say, to replace missing organs and such).
    shit BL says

So same effect, but with alot more power behind it?

How would it effect someone craft like Shirous? Quicker and stronger projections?

Also what is grain? From what I gather its magic space dust, right? What makes it unique enough to seperate it from Ether/Mana?

    Not really.
So there are two types of lifeforce. Mana from the environment and od from the individual.
Both of these convert to the same amount of magical energy.
When a place is full of true ether, that conversion factor changes. True Ether > Mana = Od.
So then a spell that requires 10 mana might only need 5 true ether.

Shirou doesn't know how to convert the mana in the atmosphere into magical energy so it wouldn't help him.

Mana is the "breath" of the planet. Grain is the parts of the planet flaking off.
