I mean the Einzbern didn't make the grail as a wish-granter. That's a side feature and it is what they advertised to bring in foreign Masters. It being called a Holy Grail and built around that was probably for that purpose

I don't think he brought it back with him in myth either

Yeah I know, I was just wondering where the idea of calling every wish-granting bundle of magical energy a Holy Grail first came from. But I doubt there's actually a reason for it.

Granting wishes is the supposed power of The holy grail the church is after. But for convenience sake the name holy grail is applied to any other "device" capable of similar power, since it conveys the idea immediately

Also Kirei says something like "even if it's not the actual grail, if it can grant wishes the same then for the church it might as well be treated like the real thing."

Where is it stated again that Karna's skin is everything but the gold armor he's wearing (i.e. the white and black parts of his design are his skin).

And add in something that establishes that Saber isn't even the strongest member of the Knight's of the Round. Might be something in Garden of Avalon, but I haven't read what's been translated of that.

Well Lancelots and Gawain's profile, where it has Lancelot as strongest and that Gawain is more powerful then her at noon. Other then that, her scene with Bedivere in Camelot. I remember her saying stuff about it there

Its one of those things Nasu likes where the circumstances change for the three involved, where you'd say that Lancelot is overall the most skilled and best but that at high noon Gawain is strongest but output wise one full Excaliblast Artoria outclasses them both. Like the Baz-Kuzuki-Kotomine thing.

Galahad is clearly the Kouma in this comparison.

Suddenly Mash being a Cyclops makes so much sense.

Isn't Lancelot vs. Gawain all about how Lancelot ends up winning because he can just use his skill to keep the fight going until the sun goes down and Gawain isn't invincible any more? (And the problem in Camelot, then, is that the sun never sets.)

Here I'll reword it to be clearer:

Q: Between Artoria, Lancelot, Gawain, Tristan, and Galahad, who’d be the top 3 in a purely sword-to-sword fight back when they were alive?

A: I’m excluding Galahad since his existence itself has become a mystery.
And even if he didn’t have that nature, he’s like a philosopher causing mental errors in his opponents.
Out of the four left, the winner in pure strength is Lancelot.
If it’s limited to one match at high noon, then Gawain.
And if it’s the Artoria from ten years ago with Avalon and full powered Excalibur, she's stronger than Lancelot overall.

Because you know Nasu'd give an answer like this.

^ In a year this will be applied to Karna, Krishna, Rama and Arjuna

I honestly would be interested in what he has to say. If Hindu Mythology is to be taken for its word, then it's either Rama or Krishna who win, with it mostly likely being Rama.

It's basically Rock-Paper-Scissors, which makes sense since the concept in its modern form can trace its roots back to Japanese Buddhism.

Nah, that's boring. The rock-paper-scissors setup is much more interesting.
