Kouma was still a teenager when he slaughtered the Nanaya's and he was about 10 when he killed the Kishima's (and probably was 10 when Kiri took out his eye). Kiri says the incident when Kouma slaughtered the Kishima's was 'a few years ago'. So it was probably before Shiki was born.

We know to a large degree what Kayneth can do with his magic, but do we know anything about Sola or her magic?
She can do some spiritual surgery. She isn't actually a magus per say. She's a breeder with a high amount of circuits that Kayneath is marrying to advance his family's magecraft.

Neither. Aoi had some strange family trait and Shinji's mom had some weird thing that might have been a Tradition Carrier (kind of vague). She just has a boat load of circuits over other magi. Though the marrying off to Kayneath is for political reasons like Aoi, Shinji's mom was picked off the street (maybe? Zouken didn't have any respect for her so it is kind of hard to say).

Sola and her brother were both trained in magic, because when they were young, House Nuada-Re was in some power struggle and they were afraid Sola's brother would be shank'ed and leaving the House with no heir.
However, both Sola and her brother survived. Sola is mostly useless now, but her basic magecraft training and Nuada-Re genes make her an ideal breeding partner who can also carry out magic assistant duties.
Kind of like, "hey, buy my cow. It is better than other cows, and it can do tricks."
And Kayneth decided to buy the cow. Cynical, but very true.

She is indeed a Carrier, just not a very useful one. The "off the street" is Zouken talking smack, but Shinji's mom is probably still very weaksauce.
