This guy who was totes legit once told me that taiga is actually shirou’s mother and a mage who can control her apparent age and appearance. She spent a few weeks in the burn ward and realized that if she put on a bit of an act she could simultaneously be close with shirou and still have both of them mooching off this older guy she had seen on the unit a few times

That is somehow both completely bizarre/insane and totally in-line with something Taiga would do in those circumstances.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akashic_records

Note also how Theosophy gets a lot of love in F/GO's portrayal of Helena Blavatsky (the founder of Theosophy), who may be getting messages from the people who have entered the Root... or she might just be crazy.
Nah, it's not that Nasu expanded it, it's that he incorporated it with a broader cosmos philosophy coming from Taoism. The theory goes like this:

Within Wuji (Infinity, or alternatively Nothingness) there's Taiji (Supreme Pole, it's the metaphysical source of all things in the universe aka the Root).
From Taiji comes the Ryougi (Yin and Yang, male and female existing within the other,...etc. Same kanji used to name Shiki Ryougi, and you can see the literal connection to the Root reference).
From Ryougi comes the Four Symbols (representing how the Ryougi splits further into other concepts of the universe. It is sometimes replaced with the Wu Xing representing 5 basic elements)
From the Four Symbols comes the Bagua (concept of reality)
    From Bagua comes all creations.

The "starting point of all" comes from Taoism, the records i.e souls, throne of heroes...etc are from theosophy.

Yeah, Darius IRL throne was supposedly so big that Alexander the Great needed a footstool.
Although the IRL Alexander was kind of short, AFAIK, so this is maaaaybe the reason Darius in F/GO is so huge? IIRC it doesn't come up in the mats, though, so it's probably a lucky coincidence.

It is why. That was what Iskandar said in Zero. That the myth was completely true and that it wasnt that he was short but Darius was so massive

So how do magecraft foundations work again? Someone hacks the World and from then on people can use fireball.exe?

IRL Alexander was at least average for his time (though Hephaestion and a couple other of his generals were said to be taller) at least according to the depictions of him we've found. Nobody's actually found his body yet, so we don't know how accurate they are, but the whole "lol Alexander was a midget" is a combination of misinformation making its way to the public conscious and actual propaganda by certain Balkan states.

    Land and Magic
To use magic, what is necessary is a sequence in which a magus, once establishing contact with a magic foundation engraved in the world, sends a command to the magic foundation and executes a premade function. At this time, the fuel used for executing the function is magic energy, and the magus will have to send the command at the same time as the magic energy.

Magic foundations are magic theories that magus schools have engraved in the world, and magic is started up in accordance with those rules and systems. For example, the magic theory with the largest foundation is the “Teaching of the Lord” of the Church. Magic foundations engraved in the form of academia and religions fuse intimately with the veins of the land, and the magus using that magic foundation can perform magic anywhere in the world. However, if the magus leaves the land where his magic foundation was engraved in, he loses the backup of his land, and the force is certain to deteriorate.

Note that the case is different with magic foundations that are not academia or religions but rather are passed down through personal orally transmitted teachings, the limited inheritance in clans, etc. As long as the rules of those foundations are met, it is possible to exhibit the same basic effect no matter where one is in the world.
What is engraved in the world is a cookbook.
And then when someone wants to make a certain dish, they pump in the required magical energy and use the recipe in the cookbook.
    And out comes the dish.

    magecraft is just cooking tbh

And I'm guessing the foundations become engraved in the world by... Culture?

You can establish one on your own if you want to.
Furthermore, coincidentally there are natural foundations too.
If you were to map out a certain location at a certain time you might be able to figure out the magecraft inclinations of that area and therefore activate a spell tha's part of the foundation that is naturally there. It's something that Brand level magi can do. The issue is that an area is constantly changing, so the magical inclinations that are natural to that environment also change minute to minute.
Flat is able to figure this all out in this head and activate a formula that's part of the natural foundation. That's the main reason why they call his magecraft "Chaos Magic"

In terms of cooking, he's able to go into any kitchen in any restaurant in the world. Take a look around at the utensils, machines and ingredients they use.
And then immediately reproduce a dish the restaurant is famous for using the same stuff.

Wasn't Bazett's family descended from Lugh at some point? Or is that just something I'm imagining?
