Just to be clear, since I couldn't find any information on this, but does a Rider's mount constantly drain magical energy when it is out, or is it just a one-time amount when summoning it?
I know that using an 'attack function' like Via Expugnatio or Bellerophon would drain a lot of energy, but say if someone summoned a ship or flying machine and just sort of left it around for several days, would it require an upkeep?

Yeah, that was what I meant. I mean, obviously keeping a Servant around or using a Noble Phantasm costs mana but considering that they can walk around with their non-activated Noble Phantasms out at apparently no extra cost other than the first summoning-drain, I was just wondering if that was the case with mounts just being allowed to stick around.
Unless I'm mistaken there as well.

But the reason I was asking in the first place was for an idea I had for a Servant who has a really bad Mana stat but can summon a really big ship that disguises itself as a building and can be used as a base of operations when it isn't actually being 'used for transport.'

actually them walking around does cost magic energy, continously, on top of the first summoning drain

Mana stat (MGI) isnt about how many magic energy you have its about how much you can handle/operate/use
