What does Protection of the Faith actually do? It warps your personality if you have it too high, but like, besides that.
Or just like, what does it represent?

How do Magic Circuits relate to Souls? Do Souls have any impact on Magecraft beyond magic circuits and the whole Elements and Origins thing? Can you do anything magecraft-wise if you have a soul that doesn't have Magic Circuits?

Elements and origin are related to the soul but I don't think in the way like you word it. Origin is like the magnet and a soul is the body of information made up of little particles that are attracted to the magnet. Elemental affinity seems in part directed by the origin, in part related to the magical foundation a magus is tied to...dunno what that means with the soul. Souls can have impact on magecraft, since you've got soul eaters and iirc both Jack and Darnic reference that different kinds of souls work better or worse for them to consume, plus whatever effect it might have on how much od people generate.
And sure you can do magecraft stuff if you don't have magic circuits...if you are a witch from Colchis for instance you can do it with words.

Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
It was partially a joke to say, "not unless you're an AoG mage."
Formalcraft still uses circuits.

I thought Protection of the Faith did different things depending on who possessed it.
Vlad's makes his body as durable as his faith, but he has A+++ in it anyway so he can cheese shit probably.
Not "magecraft" in the way you're thinking, anyway. There's implications that there are mysteries that can be enacted without circuits, but they're not part of a magecraft system.

Basically
AoG magecraft: Tap directly into power, cause shit to happen.
AoM magecraft: Use circuits to interface with power, cause shit to happen.

Since Archers and Lancers occasionally take liberties on what classifies as "archery" or "a lance", could the same be done for Sabers?
Like, could an axe-wielder with a really narrow blade on their axe be classed as a Saber because they're "close enough"?

I've always assumed an infantryman-type HS would fit the Saber class even if their weapon is not a sword per se since that's the other thing the class is about.
