I'm still not sure exactly what determines who gets it and who doesn't, though. For instance, Zeus is a god of lightning amongst other things, yet I don't see Herc having anything like that in his Divinity Skill.

If I'd have to hazard a guess, it might be because that's not mechanically represented in FGO and they don't want to confuse people about it? i.e. it doesn't give a passive Special Defense (descended from sun gods) buff.

On the other hand, it's not like there aren't other skills and NPs which sound like they'd have mechanical effects and don't, or skills where they just lob in a "this isn't fully used in FGO, BTW".


Actually, come think of it, when Kintoki was released I think the only Servant that would have applied to would have been Cu (son of Lugh)? Its non-use in gameplay might also be because of balance, like how most Star servants are resistant to Enuma Elish (but Jeanne isn't, because she's already resistant vs. Archers).
I dunno, FGO mats are a bit weird at times.

Karna got it probably because he became one with Surya after death. Herc did not become Zeus. Beside, it only works for sun-related ppl of B rank divinity or below, and for the most part demigods tend to have B rank or below divinity other than a few exceptions.

Possibly because Zeus isn't a god of lightning per se, like Indra is. He's the father of the Gods and a bunch of epithets regarding clouds and the weather and such, but lightning is his weapon rather than something intrinsic to him. The Cyclopes manufacture his bolts, specifically.

Indra is also a chief god, leader of the devas, ruling over multiple aspects. He's credit as a thunder god because his weapon is Vajra - literally lightning bolt, but he's a god of many other things. Lightning is not something intrinsic to Indra

Furthermore Vajra was not made by Indra, and many other gods can summon/use Vajra, not just Indra

From what I understand, a noble phantasm is an object, situation, creature or anything that will allow a servant to recreate the feats and abilities that gave them their renown.
That's why shu wen's and okita's aren't noble phantasms, cause they're the feats, not the thnig that allowed for those feats.
