That's confusing as heck. Why are Shiki's eyes even called Mystic Eyes if they're actually Pure Eyes? Did Nasu just think that sounded cooler?
IIRC MEoDP are weird because they allow you to interact with/actualise a phenomenon rather then just observing it like Shiki's natural Pure Eyes that he inherited from his Nanaya Blood.

Shiki's Eyes being a combo of Mystic and Pure is actually something I'd considered before. Since they let the user see things he or she normally couldn't (Pure Eyes) but also can be used to interfere with reality directly by cutting the lines (Mystic Eyes). I guess a hypothetical Pure Eyes of Death Perception would only let the user see the lines, but not actually cut or interact with them?
I kinda feel like a lot of so-called 'Mystic' Eyes actually Pure. Like Trisha's future sight, since she talks about the fate of having them or smth.
i would imagine various kinds of jougan are relatively common among magi re:the Q&A answer but we don't hear about them because they don't interfere with phenomena and therefore are less useful for making flashy chuuni things happen
