About the Dawn story shown in Kagetsu Tohya, written by Kugane Murayama, Overlord's author before he went full chuuni professional. The lines are from the part where Maiko senses she's going crazy because lolNero.
Yamaiko and her sister in Overlord are the "counterparts" of the Akemi sisters in Kagetsu Tohya, incidentally. XD

so, did the comet thing that Bryhn was trying to summon a byproduct of her runes or her 2nd NP?

Not really. One thing that you are forgetting is that these Runes Scathach and Bryn is throwing down ain't no ordinary runes, but they are the Original Runes that was carved by Odin himself. They are AoG tier magecraft, the sort of stuff that is equal to the 5 True Magics in the common era. If you think of it in that context it makes sense, they are literally using the same magic that the Greatest God of Nothern Europe himself used.

If you want to take an issue then it has to be more on them particularly being able to use such powerful magic. Bryn can get an excuse for who she is but not so much Scathach
"Only in my company, will you not be a monster"

So where did the whole Scathach=Skadi thing come from, anyway? I know that SMT played with it earlier, but is there anything before that? (Or is this just like Gilgamesh' Tower of Druaga armor, where it's just a reference?)
Pretty sure it's just a reference. Because there nerds like that
"Only in my company, will you not be a monster"

According to the JP wiki, Barbara G. Walker, an American author and feminist mentioned that Scathach is identified with the goddess Skadi in her book "The woman's encyclopedia of myths and secrets". However the wiki also noted that since she is a feminist and a writer, she most likely included it without myth support facts. Then SMT capitalized that and let Scathach evolves into Skadi in SMT Nocturne, and Fate is apparently going with Barbara's theory as well.
...Because women and feminists can't support their claims and just pull things out of their rear, obviously.
I mean, from what I've seen of her book, it's not good at all, but there's a huge difference between saying "this author doesn't support her claims" and "this author doesn't support her claims because she's a woman / a feminist / both".
Oh, I know! I was expressing my disgust at the wiki, not you. Sorry for not making that clear.
