He'd be more of a housekeeper rather than an all-out crusader against the forces of evil. Instead of marching on the front lines of the War, he'd most likely stay on the side and basically try to prevent the participants he's acquainted with from killing each other.
Was thinking about how Nasu chose Gil because he needed a really tough, really old hero to be the bad guy Servant of /stay night. Got me thinking about who else could've reasonably fit that role.
So, if Gil's spot in the roster was taken by Karna, how would this change affect the Fourth War? What repercussions would there be for a possible Fifth?

That's actually rather interesting now that you say that. Karna is capable of revealing Kirei's true nature just as much as Gilgamesh is capable of. Whether Karna would do it or not is another story entirely.

You are Kirei. You've always been a little different from the rest. You probably have low social skills. Whatever, it's not like what they think matters anyway. Ever searching for something missing within you, you probably don't experience the same happiness as everyone else. Good and evil are just labels, you are who you are.
Karna doesn't seem much like a corruptor, though. If he was Kirei's Servant, or spent a significant portion of time around Kirei then he might tell Kirei about his nature; however, Karna's loyalty to his Master (let's presume Tokiomi) would have him on scouting duty or slaying duty or in some position not suited for corrupting.

For Karna to be an adequate final boss Servant, he needs an evil Master to be loyal to.
Or, y'know, how Kirei himself was perfectly capable of.
Gilgamesh just pushed him into trying it out, Kirei knew from the start.

Karna would probably take pity on and try to help Kirei to some extent, but unless Tokiomi was killed by circumstances not related to Kirei, I don't see him serving him.
That said, I do believe it could make for an interesting fic. He was a king, so he could still participate in the Banquet of Kings, and how he's the opposite of Saber (Virtuously accepts his circumstances without fail, while Saber wants to change them) could turn into an interesting dynamic. That said, half of Fuyuki might end up as a burning crater.

He'd probably have him use it against Cthulu.
If he knows the destructive capabilities of it he'd probably not let him do it. If he doesn't, his regret at blowing up half of the city would be great to write.
If you wanna add tension, you could have him use Vasavi Shakti against it, which means he loses his armor and is now more killable.

Exactly my thought process.
It's range is less than Excalibur's.
The rank is lower as well.
And as an Anti-Fortress Excaliibur is supposed to be more destructive.

Kundala's only affects 600 and is 2-90.
Also I've always wondered. For the max people affected.
Is it that each person takes rank equivalent damage or if if the rank damage is spread across the entire range.
So like take Excalibur, is it everyone getting A++ NP damage done to them, or this entire 1-99 is A++ and what you take is a fraction of that.
I think any decently smart person could fit a lot of fortresses into a country.
