I have a few ideas for mainly character-centric KnK fics, and I find that they tend to fall into two sort of headcanon continuities or versions of events. Given that KnK isn't inherently multiroute but I'm not sure how much I'll write or either, though I hope to write some of both, I'm wondering how I should manage that. Organizationally and in terms of writing goals and clarity for any readers on here.

I guess the simplest way to put it is that I sort of have two 'routes' in my head for KnK fics. I was thinking about writing interconnected one-shots rather than long fics for either. I was talking about how to distinguish between which fics are connected.
I'm just worried that it'll be confusing or appeal to different readers.

enough to give a hint, but not still vague enough to keep the reader speculating.

Hmm, that's true. But what if one of my 'routes' is more serious spin-off of my extant Touko/Mikiya lemon? I guess I could also name further continuations of that from tiny snippets of song lyrics. But I do that for everything. But, like, the other thing could have a better naming scheme?

That + have a table of contents for each series so someone could easily go back and check which was part of which.
Yeah, I mean AO3 has a built-in series feature. I guess here it's more I'm not sure how linear I want to commit to being.
