And my first encounter with BL was this fic, which I came across via TVTropes Recommended Fics.

For fanfics, it was Elf's Steel and Cherry Blossoms on FFN.
If only she was more active in fanfics again, but alas she's got her original fiction now. ;n;
QuotesA Writer's FateF/GO JP (Updated: 4/11/2019)
I just kinda wish that I'd had GO and more Case Files when starting Hearts as then I'd have used canon Servants for stuff and might've thrown out some OCs in favor of Animusphere or something. As it is now I've been backpeddling and reworking some things to try and fit better.

My Fanfics. Read 'em. Or not.McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.
Nah, I can read the profiles and dialogue and stuff of course when they go up on a site or such, but I'm just not, you know, INSPIRED to write them if I don't have them. It's not the same when Jalter wasn't being tsundere to ME when she ascended.
Now, however, I have heard it for myself and will be thinking on it.
I probably wouldn't write some of the GO servants that don't have a lot on them, though, really, so Ishtarin is no good right now anyway. Need to read them interacting with other characters and plot.

My point exactly. Having them in your team certainly helps to get things to click.
Though, here I am, with a Kancolle fic in the works, and I don't even play the game or have seen the anime. So, welp, guess that just means I approach that series differently from T-M's stuff.

You intend to write about a setting and a cast you've never experienced first hand?
I know it's fairly common in fanfiction circles, but I've never seen the appeal. How much inspiration can you really get from wikipedia articles and out-of-context Youtube clips? I have to soak up a cast's chemistry or immerse myself in a world to write about any of them.
