Edit: (after looking it up) There's a scene early in Le Morte where the "commons" of Caerleon actually join the battle against Lot and the other rebellious kings. They come out with clubs and staves and kill the knights until the kings run away.

O walls, you have held up so much tedious graffiti that I am amazed you have not already collapsed in ruin.
hmmm... not exactly what i was looking for (i'm also technically re-writing le morte d'arthur for what im writing so). anyway, battle scene aftermath...
- - - Updated - - -death in the air, blood on the plains, scattered brains and bits, split bone and torn limb, those cries silenced by the coming down of steel upon skull. with dented armor and bandaged wounds galore, stained blades, shattered lances, and splintered shields, they'd won their first battle to unify the north. the king stood alone, staring out into the horizon, oblivious to the carnage behind her, eyes ever on that light which blinded her. the glimmering sunlight of a destiny she was born to lead, fading beneath dark clouds further on, into rugged valley and tundra. white, rolling hills and clusters of mist, masking a land with a history of savagery and violence indigenous to the invader's homeland an ocean away. barbarians. horned horrors, carrion-loving fiends terrorizing the people she vowed to protect when pulling sword from stone. where the tall and terrible once marched from, burning and bleeding the land in her war of vengeance. a perversion of what she'd been before and, watching the naive girl-king she herself had been, caliburn under clasped hands, now amid that carnage and tending to those she previously kept her back toward, arturia better understood the monster she too would be become to those very same she vowed to protect.
i want to add something about the smell, but hm... simply saying "the stench of death in the air"... eh, not a fan

the tall and terrible is boudica.
There was, once, a barbarian queen. Tall and terrible, a bringer of destruction, and in her wake left numerous atrocities. Once, she was human; a mother, loving and kind. Now, she was a warrior; a goddess, hateful and cruel. She was the Queen of Carrion, nourishing her appetite on the corpses of those who dared to stand in her way. She was Boudica, a woman of rage, and, regret. And, nothing, not the fates, nor the Eagle, could hold back her vengeance. Not until Rome itself, and the one responsible for her pain, burned.
How they do frighten her,
From recounts, most horrid,
Of fierce, fiery warriors,
Who fought upon the clouds,
In ranks and squadrons and right form of war,
Lead by a red-painted lioness, once whipped in the fields,
Now raining blood upon the streets;
The noise of battle hurtled in the air,
Where horses did neigh, and dying men did groan,
And ghosts did shriek and squeal about the Capital,
For, a mother's love, and a warrior's hate,
Were one and the same.
And, how sweet and awful was Germanicus,
That did she fear the Tall and Terrible Queen of Carrion so.

Looks pretty good so far.
There's a lot of testimony to be read about the smells of battlefields. Apart from modern things like gunpowder and burning plastic, the common thread is decaying flesh, which, if you've so much as walked by roadkill, you know can be horrible - now imagine it all around you and inescapable... In the first few hours, I expect the strongest smell would be the occasional voided bowel, plus blood, the body odor of everyone present, and (depending on the environment) churned-up mud, which can be unpleasant in its own right. The longer the bodies were left unburied, the stronger the smell of spoilage would become, until it overwhelmed everything else.

voided bowel, churned-up mud... Yeah, I could use that. Thank ya.
The other thing since the setting is actually revealed to be athat continues into the modern timeline I wonder what else to show in there because while Morgana knows what it is and so does Merlin, Lion King is forced to figure it out as she goes. Musashi is also involved, yada yada...Spoiler:
hm.

okay:
There was, once, a barbarian queen. Tall and terrible, a bringer of destruction. Once, a mother. Loving and kind. Then, a warrior. Horrible and cruel. Later, a goddess. Indifferent and disposed. She was the Queen of Carrion, nourishing her appetite on the corpses of those who dared to stand in her way. She was Boudica, a woman of rage, and regret. And, nothing, not the fates, nor the Eagle, could hold back her fury. Not until Rome itself, and the one responsible for her pain, burned.
They'd won their first battle to unify the north.
Crouched knee-deep in the battle's aftermath, Arturia thought of her in the wet, iron-scented rain. Voided bowels and blood-churned mud. Broken teeth, punctured flesh, scattered brains and bits, split bone and torn limb, bodies littering the field friend and enemy both. Arrow cushioned knights drowning in their own gurgled cries. Crushed by hammer, cut by axe, skewered by spear, hewn by sword. Silenced with the coming down of steel upon skull. The survivors, brandishing dented armor and bandaged wounds galore. Stained blades, shattered lances, splintered shields. Her, standing alone, staring out into the horizon, oblivious to the carnage behind, eyes ever on that light which blinded them, looking forward to the glimmering sunlight of a destiny she was born to lead, fading beneath dark clouds further on into rugged valley and tundra. White, rolling hills and clusters of mist, masking a land with a history of savagery and violence indigenous to the invader's homeland an ocean away. Barbarians. Horned horrors, helmeted marauders, crow-loving fiends. Terrorizing the people she vowed to protect when pulling sword from stone. From where the Tall and Terrible once marched, burning and bleeding the land in her war of vengeance. A perversion of what she'd been before and, watching the naive girl-king she herself had been, Caliburn under clasped hands, now simply another amid that carnage and helping tend to those she previously kept her back toward, Arturia better understood the monster she too would become--the unshaken ideal--to those very same.

of course this would be the end of the chapter, i believe most of it will consist of king arthur going from place to place gathering allies before 1st battle and then moving on into scotland, then wales in the following 2 or 3.
something something, round table, something something guinevere and morgan, something something vortigern, dark knights, king pellinore and holy spear. questing beast? irishmen? scathach and the morrigan? fragarach? hnnngggg

One thing I'd like to write if I had any idea of how to develop is an 'Incompetent Villain Celenike' fanfic.
Basically, Celenike, trained to be a merciless curse specialist, completely fails at being the sadistic monster she wants to be. She still portrays herself in public as this 'cool', wicked person, but in truth she completely falls short when it comes to harm others, either because of sheer incompetence at it or because she truly lacks the stomach and shrinks back when it's time for it. She's still got these evil edgelord dreams about herself, but in reality she just bumbles through somehow barely keeping her apperance of being dangerous and cruel around others. And when the War comes she basically just tumbles all the way through, saddled with this Servant she's so exhasperated with and who trolls her constantly without even realizing or meaning to, but she can't even give him a half decent torture session at the dungeon, and when things go to hell in a basket around her, she and Rider pretty much end up Team Rocketting their way to the finale of the war.
The only clear idea I have yet beyond that is Astolfo and her at some point stumbling across the Red masters Amakusa keeps jailed, and she gets the idea of using these merciless magical mercenaries as her minions. The problem being they're still brainwashed, so in this state they only manage being a gang of useless stupified minions at most, getting blown up one after another in increasingly ridiculous ways (which probably ends up taking a few of the Red Servants out of the table, despite that never being the actual reasoning behind the actions.) Just a very, very over the top thing, really, a 'Domino of Disasters' thing applied to the Apocrypha plot.
Great crack fic idea.
Random idea: Goetia - in his human form - survives the fight with Guda(k)o and starts a new life as a human. While working as a freelance mage, he tries to understand the modern world and what "being human" actually means. He's also accompanied by a homunculus girl that pulled a Sieg (as in becoming self-aware) that acts as his secretary

Not evilish, but he can't deal with people's bs as much as Roman
Hm, I was thinking about the homunculus being a completely new character. Perhaps she could be another of Gordes' homunculi

I was thinking
Xehanort but with Artoria(s) and her clones.
So Saber is going around the multiverse making more versions of herself? Like Jeanne was completely different looking until she lost a fight and got 'Turia'd? Nero too? And the only one to stand up to it is MHX and her party of a clumsy shield hero, Mash, and irritable caster, Medea?

More like Artoria inserts her will to other people with similar wavelength (Saberfaces) such as Jeanne and Nero, including her multiverse selves like Lancer, Alter, and Arthur. They get something2 conceptual invinciblity and power-ups, standard villains stuff.
She almost succeeds in doing whatever utopia plans she had, but then enter our heroes, AKA her amnesiac past-self Saber Lily and vengeful future-self MHX teams up to stop her.
Obviously, it would be a very OOC setting and plays more on the comedy part.
Why would Medea want to stop people from looking like Saber?
