That's fanon as far as I can tell. From what I remember of the interview where they discussed it, Nasu had doubts that an eroge with a female protagonist would work, so Takuechi was all "Let's make King Arthur a girl lol".
No, I mean they almost ruined One Piece for Spain, too. At the end, we ended with a mixed version, with the blood censured (I felt stupid watching the clean chest of Zoro after his first fight with Mihawk, instead of the bloodied and cutted one in the original) and other things, but at least we don't have the Lollypoholic Sanji of 4kids, nor the openings with rap (we have the adapted to spanish versions of the original openings).

But he's proto-Shirou's servant. It's kind of hard for him to be paired with proto-Rin or proto-Sakura (although, having said that, it is notable that Saber actually ends up as the servant of the route heroine in both UBW and HF, so...).
