I used to be in Fullmetal Alchemist fandom. Voice actors were, for whatever reason, a BIG DEAL. (I never even watched the dub so I was like whaaaat)
This guy had a cult around him. Probably still does.
I know that he has a cult, I lurk /cgl/ (please don't hurt me), but I still can't really figure out why they are worshipped so hard.
I mean, most English dubs I heard where everyone was "ahmygawdbestdubever" were below average for me, I guess that's because you get used to good dubs when you live in a country that dubs actual, real, american movies.

The older you get, the less dubbing you probably are exposed to. Most of Mignogna's fans are teenagers whose sum total of anime exposure might just be stuff on Adult Swim. And you know, teenagers (plus otaku, plus female) tend to exaggerate stuff...
I don't mind Mignogna myself, I liked the Ouran dub enough to get his signature on it. I can see where he is quite possibly the most overhyped American VA out there, though.
Localizationing stuff
Me too, clearly we have our priorities straight.
Is there another English VA that leaves a similar impression as Mignogna? I guess there's Dan Green and Richard Cox. Maybe.
You mean, vocally, or fandom wise? Because when it comes to fandoms, it'd probably be a fight between Mignogna, Crispin Freeman, and Steve Blum for most popular. Vocally, well, kid heroes tend to go to Mignogna, Yuri Lowenthal, Spike Spencer, and Brad Swaile.
Localizationing stuff
Oh that's true. Nowadays the only English VA I get exposed to is in my JRPGs. Anyone else known to be a dick other than Mignogna?
