Had my first all-Adept match today, FBW Reapers. I was a Drell, one Asari, one Justicar, one Human Sentinel, which totally counts as an Adept. Never before have I seen things die so quickly and so horribly. Spent a couple of hours playing Reapers with them, was pretty fun. Wish all my random groups were like that.

I'm pretty we randomed the map. It's actually kinda fun playing with pubs like that. It's really neat to have an great team but sometimes you just want to feel awesome pulling something difficult off.

Then again, I have the luxury of saying that because I've unlocked every class already and have both a Carnifex X and Claymore X.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Shepard is, like, the only character who doesn't get promoted over the course of the series? I mean, you've got Admiral Anderson, Admiral Tali, Major Alenko/Williams, Major Kirahe, generals are saluting Garrus, Wrex is the leader of his entire species...and poor Shepard is just hoping he'll make Captain before he gets killed.

A formal promotion to Major would have made sense, yeah, but it's not like she didn't get any kind of promotion. She may as well be the second highest ranked figure in the entire Alliance, considering the depth of her treaty powers and how she reports directly to Hackett.

Shepard is a Specter, I doubt he/she gives a flying fuck about Alliance Military Rank.

Actually, I think Ash only made Lieutenant, while Kaidan went from LT to Major.

Meanwhile, Shepard was a Lieutenant Commander. That's US Navy rank... which is followed by Captain.

Also, Captain is a significantly higher rank in navies than in ground forces (where it's the equivalent of Navy LT)

But aren't they all Alliance Marines (naval infantry)?

I guess there's a new military rank system in the future.

I would theorize a mixture of Navy/AF. Navy mentality (living away from any bases for weeks/months on end in confined spaces) seems to make the most sense. The AF would probably be a branch of the Navy based on carriers.

I would have to say Navy. The modern Air Force is really really ground based, whereas the modern Navy controls both the seas and the sky, why not add space there too?

Carriers and cruisers pretty much directly translate into the space setting at least in the Mass Effect universe.

Air Force, I would think. There's a reason the term Areospace exists (lobbyists, but it's still a term now), the US military space command is an Air Force division, the astronaut corps is either civilian or Air Force test pilot... What'll happen though is that there'll be a lot of study and culture, I think, drawn from the submarine ​arm.
