And yeah, Ammo was fucking stupid. But the skill system actually having an impact every level and not every 20 levels is a good change, and the weapons handling differently and not just being "better" is also a welcome change.

But I loved biotics, and I was seriously mad when they nerfed them beyond recognition in ME2. I can understand it not working on shields and barriers, but why not on armor?

You guys reminded me that I was interested in this, so I bought ME1.

After all, how could I resist with recommendations like:

    Lol.

It's very cool if you like science fiction, especially the more freaked out raced (Hanar, Elcor) made my inner SF-fanboy squeal like a bitch.

    ^Because it's a BIG STUPID JELLYFISH.

What I hated THE MOST about the ammo system was that the shotgun was hit the worst by it, on top of limiting effective range.

Yeah. Instead they force every grunt to have less ammo than friggin' 20th century soldiers.

Well, the thing is, after the heat sinks are empty the guns would work like in ME1 if my memory serves right, it's just not working in ME2 for gameplay reasons.

    Eh.

I don't mind the ammo counter.

    Overheating always had me raging.

I don't really care about the ammo system for gameplay purposes, but their justification for it was stupid in the context of the setting.

Really, they should have just retconned it instead of trying to make the change make sense.

Legion with the Widow Sniper Rifle, Grunt with the Claymore Shotgun, and Shepard with the Revenant LMG.

Together, they are Team Crotch Punch.

    *********

The Mattock rifle is probably my favorite weapon, though.

Also max their Geth Barrier & Immunity respectively while maining Legion's Drone, and you got a pretty tanky team.

    It's a pity you can't cram Hyper Rails into a Widow ;_;

It's a pity you can't even customize your guns anymore.

I am NOT counting that linear bullshit upgrade system as "customization."

They're bringing back a customization system in 3, right?

Yes, but it's actually a customizing parts system IIRC.
So no "what useless upgrade do you want to occupy the space besides Frictionless Materials" anymore.

Here's hoping it would be more along the lines of FPS' with customizable equipment(Brink, for example) than the old one-- which would make it a hybrid of ME1's and ME2's. No real need to bring back clunky inventory systems.

I wouldn't be surprised if the upgrades end up like Human Revolution, in packs that you can apply to different weapons, but no 'slots.'

IMO, that's barely a step above the linear crap from ME2.

Better than "press X for the only generic upgrade available."

Nah, I think they explicitly announced a slot system.

At least I felt the impact of those upgrades. But making it a tree system would be better than a linear system, I agree.

I remember back in ME1 where I put explosive ammo and a whole load of damage mods on my sniper rifle.

    So much lulz were had.
