It's kind of complicated and even I don't fully get it. Maybe when I get that far in the novel version it will make more sense, but I think it has to do with how he sees himself in her and he can't stand seeing it because of how disillusioned he is with himself, the concept of a hero, and his own methods.

You know, I think that what alcohol does is that it just brings out what you are. If you have huge problems, you are more prone to talk about them when drunk. After you reach balance in life, being drunk is just one situation you can find yourself in, like being tired or in pain. If either changes how you act, the problem is you.

Wasn't there something about not needing all 7 sacrifices for his purpose? I don't remember too well.

If all 7 are needed then what is there to think about Irisviel's relationship with Saber? Seems really fake.
