I recently bought a secondhand PS3 copy of DkS, so I've been playing the game unpatched and without DLC, as it was on release day in 1967. Some thoughts, having only previously played the PC version:
* I thought the notorious framerate issues in Blighttown were exaggerated but nope
* Lost Izalith is ridiculous. It's kind of boring to make the crossing over from the Centipede Demon arena in PtDE but I prefer that to pulling the aggro of every dragon butt in visual range just by stepping into the dome
* And they can kill each other, what the fuck
* Why does Gaping Dragon drop so many souls on NG+? I got 90000 with Covetous Silver active. It's way higher than anything else you're fighting at around that point in the game
* Interestingly, there are some areas which I find have framerate issues on PC but not on console, like the bridge that leads over to the boss fog for Ceaseless
* Not being able to buy upgrade materials at the giant blacksmith is mildly annoying.
* Being able to use the DWGR fliproll at 50% load and under changes the entire game. I can see why they patched it but damn it's fun to be a fliprolling Tarkus
* The Lightning upgrade path is really good!
* It seems much harder to get a Symbol of Avarice. I am on NG+ and one still hasn't dropped for me; tell me I'm an idiot and they were only added with AotA
* The Capra Demons on the way down to Firesage aggro from waaaaaay further away
* Only being able to warp to Covenant-related bonfires is a pain in the ass. The lack of an Undead Parish warp option is particularly hateful. Also Crystal Cave.

Gaping Dragon was a turning point in the game. It was the first boss that had a ridiculous amount of HP (for that point in the game, at least), and it was the first boss that could potentially oneshot you if you stood in the wrong place, or failed to notice its tells and such.

In the unpatched version it's a straight drop chance. In the patched version, the last mimic in the game will always drop it if it hasn't dropped for you yet.

I'm conflicted. On one hand, Namco Bandai didn't do a very good job with the two DS2 versions and the differences between them. On the other, the most interesting and most fun game in the series might actually become better than ever.
If it's just a graphical remaster, though, Bandai can go suck on a doorknob.

Though abandoned, forgotten, and scorned as out-of-date dolls, they continue to carry out their mission, unchanged from the time they were designed.
Machines do not lose their worth when a newer model appears.
Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
So much harder. I tend to either go with mental patterns or the boss's sounds for knowing when to dodge and hit and so on, and she screws all of that up. Hardest boss for me, tbh. She's killed my characters so many times I basically gave up on fighting her normally and just summon nowadays.
