Advanced Wars! (Blowing stuff up without a reason, oh yeah!)

Hey everyone I figured I should make a thread for one of my personal favorite games Advanced Wars. This thread is so that everyone who wants can talk about all things related.

Also would anybody be interested in playing a match of Advanced Wars By Web? It's a pretty neat idea and if we can get a few people it could be pretty fun. Here is a link to check it out: http://awbw.amarriner.com/

You aren't. Is Mil speaking of something else, then?

I had 1 and 2 for the GBA, but never got around to finishing the final campaign mission(or Advance/Hard Mode) on either of them, but I've played through the DS ones a couple of times.

I own every single one except the first one. I'm still eagerly hoping that a new one will come out soon.

I want another one to be released for 3DS. TT^TT

I especially liked Days of Ruin, but the others are muy bueno, too.

I loved Sensei and spamming lvl 2 CO ability. And his theme was pretty catchy.

I own all 4 GBA/DS games, so yes, glad to see more AW game fans.

I dabbled on that awbw back in the day, but it eventually boiled down to a crummy delayed chess match you would see in the park; like a guy would make a move, than you'd have to wait hours/days for the other to make a move, so I got bored of it real fast.

Oh, and OP rich boy ftw.

Colin and Hatchi was a poor man's team indeed. Now Adder and Koal can anybody say faster than the speed of sound?

Days of Ruin was really "meh" for me, it's too "darker and edgier" for my liking. As for favorite COs, Hatchi and Colin are my favorites mainly because you can spam units left and right with them. Favorite tag team though would be Colin/Sanya: spam cheap units to build up power, switch to Sanya and wipe out the opposition's CO power, continue with Sanya till tag is available, then move units into position with Sanya and wipe them out with a doubly powerful Colin (thanks to Sanya's Super doubling your currency available). They also have 3 star compatibility, so they get an additional 30% boost during tag. Throw in Fire Sale 1 and 2 on Sanya and both Tag CO boosts for Colin and you're practically unstoppable.

...Sanya? Did you mean Sasha by chance? Because yeah, she was fucking broken as all hell with Market Crash being only 2 stars for -1 star per 5k you had for the BOTH opponents CO Power gauges.

I feel that by Dual Strike, the difference between the great COs and the others had gotten so large they had to reboot in Days of Ruin and place a bit more of an emphasis on strategy.

Yeah Dual Strike while an awesome game has a lot of shall we say over the top things going on in it. Days of Ruin was pretty much a complete reboot to the entire franchise.

Definitely. Tag powers were an understandable thing to do, but they broke the game more often than not. DoR balanced things out quite nicely. (Although I HATE the art with a passion.)

The art is certainly a lot different but the story was a pretty good one. I like the sort of apocalypse thing they did though I still think it's impossible for them to have the resources to bring out fifty war tanks in one battle but whatever.
