The Army of Darkness: Quest One, Basic Training

The portal Sly ripped into reality shines with a dark purpose. Blue light softly glowed, while a soft wind glided through it. It is every bit as unnerving as the Army you have joined. But, even if you were to rethink your choices, the time for second thoughs has long passed.

With no hesitation you step into the portal.

    .
    ..
    ...
As congruent thought returns to you, you find yourself in a pleasant looking field. The sun is shining merrily, there is a kind breeze roaming though; it is the type of place anyone could easily live out their lives in contentment. Except for one thing that was out of place. Or more precisely, five things that did not.

Around the field were five Portals, similar to the one you just went through, but different. They each shined a bight color.
Red, Green, White, Blue, and Black (How does Black shine brightly?)

"Ah, the first contestant!" a voice gleefully said from behind you.

The only reason you don't jump is because you've long since learned to control your so-called involuntary reactions.

"I guess it's time to get this show on the road!" Beta said as he walked around you and towards the White Portal. If you were an ordinary person, the dark glee in his voice would have made you shiver. As it was, you just watched him warily.

"I'll be seeing you on the other s~i~d~e." Beta's voice stretched as he walked through the Portal.

    What will you do now?
    O==[[=========-
    Forsaken Forest
The wood is so dense you can't see too far ahead. The ferns and vine covered ground makes for slow goings. It would be easy to be ambushed here.

Your back and sides are secured by a wall of trees so thick you didn't even consider trying to force your way through. You are going to have enough trouble just moving through elsewhere.

The only thing you can make out is some sort of overgrown structure up ahead and to the right. Anywhere else you venture into the unknown.

    Empty Planes
You are in a desolate field. The grass is not green, nor is it a golden yellow. It is white. As if someone had bleached the color out of it.

The sky is clear, so you can see a fair distance if noting else. There isn't much to it. To your back there is a drop, as if off a cliff. But there is nothing to fall to. This entire area is just floating in space, and it's a fairly small area.

To your far left there is a distant structure. You would need to get closer to examine it.

Up ahead and to the right, there is something else. It's close enough to make out, but you're not really sure what it is. You will need to get closer to tell. As best you can see, it is an arch like at Stone Henge.

The only other thing to note were the other people. Within the plane you could count five others. Four in the area surrounding you, one further off at the distant structure. None look too friendly.

    Rocky Beach
The chill breeze is the first thing to come to you. Then came the sight. A mist fills the air, making it difficult to see. The sand under your feet is a mix of grey and black, with many dark rocks scattered about.

Directly behind you and to your right is rock the same dark color as those on the ground, going up as far as you can see. To your left is a Stone Henge like structure. You will need to get closer to find out more. To your right is more of the rock wall. Ahead of you is the unknown.

    The Graveyard of the End
The air is full of a cold mist. The chill seeps into your soul as you look around. The mist hinders your vision (and the half-moon does little to help), but you can make out the dark soil underneath your feet and the headstones that dot the landscape.

To your back is the corner of a ornate black fence. To your right is some structure, you'll need to get closer if you wish to examine it. A little ways in front, you can barely make out a shambling figure.

    Ravager Ravine
The hot air slams into you as you appear. It is so hot, you will lose 1 HP every turn you're here. Despite the heat, the air is clear and you have a fair range of view. You are in some valley between mountains, the red light cast by the top gives you a reason for the heat.

To your left is a Stone Henge arch structure. To your right and up ahead of you are some small greenish creatures. And to the right and far ahead you see a small hill.

    Beta Test
    50/50 HP, 5/5 BM
    Level 1 Soldier of Darkness
    The Empty Planes

Beta took in the environment in a glance, noting the others in the area. He then payed five blue mana.
Mind Control, targeting the figure to his right. The targets mind was quickly overwhelmed, and Beta ordered him over. Given the subtlety of it, none of the others noted the activity.
Glory Seeker has joined your party!
    Wise Up, Glory Seeker

    Glory Seeker, NCP
    30/30 HP
Weapon: short sword (1 attack, 10 damage)

Glory Seekers are people who left their homes looking for battle. The ones you find in the empty planes are those who were cast out into the void when their homes planes were destroyed. Even so, they still seek glory in battle.

As soon as Glory Seeker joined your party, the other three around you note your Presence. They began quickly running towards you.
    Wise Up, Party Presence

A party's chances of being noticed by enemies is determined by it's Presence. The Presence is determined by how many members your party has.
A party of 1 only has to deal with enemies in his area.
2 member parties have to deal with the enemies in adjacent areas.
3 member parties will be seen by enemies up to 2 spaces away.
    So on an so forth.

Be wary of increasing your Party's Presence.

2 small potions(20H) lay on the ground with the White Escape Key.
Beta Test 75/75 HP, 5/5 BM
    Level 2 Soldier of Darkness

    The Empty Planes

Beta gathered up his spoils and used the White Escape Key to leave.
    Wise Up: Escape Key
The Escape Keys are used to leave the plane you are on and return to Home Base. Where your mana will be refilled and yourself healed fully. But be aware, you need the correct color Key for this to work. And some planes are Multi Colored.

    Wise Up: Auto Play
There are some battles that are going to be truly EPIC. But if you don't feel like filling in all that fluff and all the back and forth. You may declare Auto Play, along with a HP number and the GM will play through the entire Battle until the point you asked is reached, or you win. Unfortunately, Auto Play does not include Fluff.
