Uh. I did not expect the Black Berserker Team to be this interesting, honestly. But both Franken and Caules are likable, and this little scene between them was even endearing. Caules might not stand out in terms of personalities, but he's a pretty decent and well-minded fellow.
Frankenmoe is indeed moe. Liked Caules too.
I wish they explained genderswap though.

Genderswap doesn't really need an explanation. The book got some details wrong. Presumably ol' Victor was a real dude who made his perfect little girl but then realised she was awful and monstrous. And Mary Shelley heard the story but either did not get the full tale or altered some parts to better fit what she was trying to convey with her story.
I doubt there's a deeper reason than that, but of all the genderswaps a writer changing a detail for her fictional novel is actually one of the easiest to swallow.
