Remember how in Fate a big deal is made about how all the heroes of the world are based on Gilgamesh, the original? In the Nasuverse, Saber Artoria is based upon an amalgamation of the stories of Nero and a unnamed Roman general whose identity we can guess. I can't cite the source, since I don't have the link, but it was from one of the tidbits translated from the character poll.
