This is a man who said in an interview that Dio and Pucci weren't actually gay, that's just how he thinks friends hang out. Shirtless in bed. Don't read too much into it, I think.

It's pretty hilarious how the interviewer keeps pushing her fujoshi lense while Araki is playing it cool but clearly getting progressively more uncomfortable. Although the suggestion that Dio sought to "become" Jonathan as a way to be part of his family and escape his own tainted bloodline (as it's clear he resents the blood of his drunkard father flowing through him) is actually really interesting and could add a lot to his character. Also that same interview pretty much confirms Dio is bisexual.

Tangentially related, but I guess the purpose of showing us Joseph at the end of Jojolion was to ease us into him having a second daughter, Barbara Ann despite the fact that she was not on the Joestar family tree given to us in Jojolion.

Personally, I always thought Pucci was just in love with DIO, both romantically and in the way a worshipper loves their God, and DIO definitely had some very fucked up love towards Jonathan, whether that be brotherly or romantic.
