Hey, thanks a lot for a reply! I really appreciate it!
I think I heard of Tarkin's fist, will definitely read it, thanks for recommendation.
I thougth about Root=The Force a lot before reaching decision to post about it, and I think you are precisely correct about general manifistations of the Force being more like Kara no Kyoukai Psychics. That's was actually part of developed backstory in my headcanon.
One of the point in story is that Nasuverse magic is not Jedi powers, but developed by local mages way to manupulate magical/Force energy without acual direct control over it. Without sensing the Root, mages of Earth lost their abilities to control magical/Force energy through willpower and focus, and instead need to rely on magecraft and ect.
Also, Magecraft of Earth in it's nature share simularities with Magic of Sith, Dathomir or other ones. They sort of bend the reality to perform "unnatural" mysteries, often without direct control over the mystery itself from the Force user. It is considered "Dark Side" by Jedi Order, but de facto such manipulations of the Force in SWL canon is not always DS, as in case with Dathomir Witches' Arts. Because Jedi instead kinda "worship" the Force and don't even use it without actually good reason, bending it to someone's will contradict their core beliefs, and any magic or alchemy (even those that don't use negative emotions) is viewed as unnatural and Dark Side. The difference is that Earth's Magecraft is limited by local consciousness of World, while magics outside Earth are defined by Force itself.
So, you could say that Jedi and modern mages approach the Force through completely different perspectives, that's part of the reason why their abilities and powers are different now. In turn, it does not make mages Dark Side. Without sensing the Force/Root, there is no concept of LS/DS in mage society, as sides of the Force can't affect them directly as well.
But here is interesting thing - ancient Jedi were experimenting with that, but because of clash with their philosophy it caused Fisrt and Secons Schisms, where groups left the order to study Force as they see fit. So, while some survivors of Shisms would settle on Korriban, what if another group stumble upon planet that offers perfect place to hide and practice their art? That's basically what I had in mind for origin of ancient mages on Earth in my story (don't bay for my blood pls )
But after this group found that their sensitivity to the Force is diminishing, they started to search for ways to bring it back. Here is where the idea of "reaching the Root" is born and passed through generations, with it's initial meaning partly lost in time. On the other hand, experiments with genetics and mutation are started, as one of the way to bring back sensitivity to Force. It could be how Psychics are come to be, as their mutations allow them to percieve and directly control to great extent limited parts of mysteries that would come from Force/Root.
So, this is what I have in mind for now.
I honestly have no idea which forum on Nasuverse is more populated now, but I heard good things about this one and that's why I decied to post here. And considering ongoing turbulence in SW Fandom, I keep myself outside of it's forums for now.
Share what you think about it, I'm always happy to discuss ideas.
