It would probably be best not to give him Thor's full power at first since when Thor in the comic book focussed all his power into a single strike he destroyed the planet he was currently on. Seriously Thor is like the Superman of the Marvel universe without the weakness of kryptonite and magic.
It actually makes for a good weapon.

Little known fact that, while somewhat divine, Asgardians are not gods since they age and die but at a rate about 100 times slower than humans. Also if this is movieverse then Asgardians are not gods but aliens since that is less offensive to the religious.
