a circle is when Kinoko Nasu , Takeuchi Takashi and that one programmer friend who`s name i dont remember off the top of my head cuz its usually shortened to 4 letters, like OKGS or something get together and make a VN called Tsukihime and publish at Comiket under a shared name like Funky Sun (or Typemoon in this case)...

except this post mostly refers to the guys making porn and non-porn doujins of Typemoon and Kancolle and Touhou

They create own stuff based on original thing (or they also create something entirely new, like Tsukihime). It can be everything, art, music, figurines, manga, novel and so on.

I don't really get what you mean by "helping regular manga artist" but the answer is probably "no".

I read all 20 volumes of Bakuman, it was a very good series. I had mixed feelings about the ending though.
